C99 harvest time?

This is a shot of a C99 i have going at day 52 of flower..

Due to low spare time during the week, i have to harvest during the weekend.
I have two options:

1. Harvest this saturday night, @ day 54. This will also help my other plants get more light, but it might be a bit early? I can get anxious from smoking.

2. Harvest next friday/saturday night, @ day 60/61. Less light for other plants, but possibly a better C99 experience for me? Plus i don't think the extra week flush would hurt. Only one C99 is going yellow (flushed for 10 days now) the other two are going purple from the flush.

Which would you pick and why?

Your plants don't have to look like they're dying to pick them...I liked my C99 at the 52-54 day mark, not too anxious for me, very much put my mind at ease, let it wander well. Its such happy weed. Its also very relaxing, and I'm sure that the longer time will enhance this. I've read from a few folks that say the long C99 is not as much mental thing, but not sedating, just relaxing. Who's the breeder, if I may ask?

So you would harvest this weekend?

They look like they could take one more week easily, I'm leaning toward option #2 myself but I keep seeing harvest day 50-55.
And if so many people prefer day 55 ish there's gotta be a reason for it.

I made some oil last time i trimmed fan leaves (5-6 day ago?!) it was amazing, wine red color oil and the high was all blissful happiness no anxiety.

The breeder is Fairlight (FLT C99 from seedbay). I'm happy with them but i thought they were supposed to be low yielders, they however have very respectable colas for only a 400w

Agreed, I just snagged a couple packs. We'll see how they compare to Mosca's stuff. I'd like to find a male for my mother. Another I'd like to see how the females do, of course...

I have two GDPxLemon Larry (very frosty!!) and one Lemon venom (Blue satellite #1 x Jack's cleaner 2) (hard plant to grow!). I'm looking for mothers on this grow. Was unable to clone the LV, she's a real sensitive little bitch

Quick dry a small bud @ day 54. if you like the smoke as is -> harvest. if not -> harvest next week.

Check em with a trich-o meter!

When the majority of the trichs turn milky ( 80-90% ), the plant is as ripe as it can get, regardless of how the rest of the plant looks.

When the trichs go amber they're oxidizing and THC degrades to CBN ( cannabininol, < spelling? ), changing the effects of the high to a more lathargic state.

For many years I ran a pineapple pheno of Cindy that would hit it's peak of ripeness in 50 days and a grapefruit pheno that went closer to 60.

This is a good suggestion. I will actually cut off a small bud right now from each of the plants and put some heat under it and a fan on it so it might be smokeable saturday. If it's good i will harvest.

Yes, but i think it's pretty hard to see with a microscope or magnifier, and marginally easier to see with a close-up picture. To my eyes they look 80-90% milky but my eyes are not very good and there's a bit of placebo effect as i want smoke as soon as possible.. I'm sure you can relate

I have more closeups in 3888x1152 resolution which is easier to see but icmag doesn't allow large pics..

Have you considered taking one now and one next week? If you do keep them separate so you can compare and will know how you like it.

Just an average growers insight, but I've taken wally c99 at 55 days and 70, smoked the entire harvests of both and I prefer the later harvest. I find it anxious at day 55 but at day 70 it's just a bit sleepy. I'd take it to at least day 60, makes for better taste IMO, The smell should change subtly to let you know.

Also, the trichomes on my C99 were cloudy when they first appeared at around 2 weeks flower, so I just harvest soon after I see amber, but not before at least 14 days of flush, if not more. Nice yield btw, way better than mine on the same size light. Is it the pineapple/tropical fruit pheno?

Experienced c-99 grower. Let em go longer and keep flushing! They are way too green. Great job BTW, plants look awesome. They look a bit different than the BG c-99 of old and appear to have some AK-47 in them. Seed or Clone? Where u get em?

I can't really separate the smells to well but my grow closet reeks of tropical fruit. My tricomes looked cloudy when they first started coming out too but it's put on some clear ones also. I have a good amount of amber trics on the small bud leaves.
I do not want sleepy herb, quite the opposite. I find bud that enhances sounds can make me uneasy, but not if the high is also euphoric. With the euphoria, i just find the noises amusing, not scary.

FLT C99 from seedbay. I agree they are pretty green still and i would like them to be less green, but i don't smoke anymore so I don't know how important it is when you only cook or vaporize herbs. I kept reading that you could flush less in coco so i thought two weeks would be OK, but reality proves different. But every new method needs to be learned, you can't read everything. From my experience with the C99's i have now learned that i need to flush longer, and my other plants will benefit from it.

It seems nobody really agrees, so personal taste seems to be key when harvesting C99. I will probably end up harvesting one plant tomorrow night and let the other two go a week longer. Maybe even an extra week on the plant with the purple fan leaves (seems to be a bit behind the other two) to get the full spectrum of effects.

I have only grown Moscas f1 and I have to say that both the early and later phenotypes are fine herbs in the jars. My choice of keeper would hands down be the late pheno. It had by far the best yield and the buzz is super. It has a more subdued terpine expression than the earlier phenos do it seems. A full three weeks later than the early ones.
The late pheno had very rich milky white trics with fat heads for nearly the whole last thee weeks. The very first amber tric heads were very easily noticed. That is when I chop.

Flushing....
It is my opinion that flushing times are subjective. If the solution you use to flush it initially an ionic fluid that will bind to the salts, then it should not take more than a week or so to flush most any salts taste that may be noticeable if not flushed at all.
I like to use Clearex for the first flush saturating with the solution for a bit, then flushing that out with clean water. Water from then on out.
Any ionic solution should work...sugars like molasses or something like hydrogen peroxide will help to bind the salts for the initial flushing. The latter insures oxygen supply to the roots while drowning things.

I'm sure yul figure out what's best fer you in no time. You should post up yer preference for the folks that read this in the future.

Bust out the scope and harvest when trics are milky and a few clears left. Great head high a lil racy for some.

If you wanna tone down the racy a touch and increased smell and flavor no more then 10% amber.

If that does not do it. You should just pick another strain to grow.
