ITryToGrow Tries to grow

I'm sick and bored, so I figure'd I'd get this thing started...

Not much to offer at this moment, but I'll update continuously.

Ok, first some background info/history.

I just finished my latest grow.

The setup was five DR120's with a 600HPS (magnetics) in each (3kW total).

I grow hydro.

Four was Big Bud and one was Northern Lights.

It yielded me 3#, not great quantity but real good quality. So under the circumstances I'm happy.

I've been growing for about 5-6 years now, so no rookie - but def not a pro.

I've spent about 3-4 months on here REALLY doing my homework, and I have some plans that are gonna materialize over the next couple of weeks.

I've bought a lot of new toys, and I'll be sharing everything with you as soon as I can get some pics.

What I can divulge is that for this next run, I'm gonna use one DR300W and it's gonna be 2kW's total.

The strain's are going to be WWxBB and some Extreme Indica (freebie from FS).

Here's a pic of a box I've built. The box seals around an open window and to it I connect all the ducting; A/C, hood-ventilation and grow-ventilation. It makes me control the environment a little better. The strap is there to make sure a tight fit against the wall.

That's all for now, hope you'll enjoy the show.

Unfortunately, it'll be almost a week before you see any updates.

No love huh?

I feel ya, more pictures... :D

So here we go...

The RO-system with the ASO (not currently working ?? ) hooked up:

Floatvalve in the 58 gallon tank:

And the soundproof box I built for my RVK 250 L1 fan (10" 640CFM):

picture.php

Hopefully that will provide enough airflow to cool my two Magnum XXXL's fitted with 600's.

Still sick, so things are moving slowly :(

Hopefully after this weekend I'll have more to share!

Small update (with pics!)

Small update (with pics!)

Welcome RS! Hope you'll enjoy the show. :tiphat:

It's been a slow weekend, didn't do anywhere NEAR what I wanted to. But I guess that's just how life goes.

Forget trying two hang two Magnum XXXL's in a Secret Jardin tent!

The crossbeams are to thin and weak aluminum bars joined together in the middle. And just by mock-hanging one reflector I saw that they were gonna fail at the joint. Like what happened to this guy! And he has a DR240 where the crossbeams are one piece, and it still failed! Crazy.

So the solution?

Making holes in the roof and putting in eyelets:

picture.php

picture.php

The roof in the room the tent is in, is concrete, so I put steel wires in the rooms roof and then thru the eyelets:

picture.php

I did this for both reflectors AND for the fan+filter combo:

picture.php

Now I don't have to worry about the tent imploding cause all the weight it has to carry is it's own and a couple of oscillating fans.

The filter is a Rhino Pro, formerly Phat filters, supposed to be the shit:

picture.php

With the steel wires in place for the Magnums we tried hanging them from Sun Lift YoYo's (easy rolls) but not even FOUR per reflector worked. They are truly monsters the Magnums!

Next attempt, chains:

picture.php

Problem there was that with a tent full with gear, plants and whatnot it's gonna be impossible to change the height (distance from plants). So FAIL again.

So what I've done is order a set of Sunlight Supply's Rope Ratchet system. They market them specifically FOR the Magnums, so hopefully they'll work:

Finally, the humidifier:

picture.php

It's a monster that puts out up to 1.3 gallons per hour! The beauty of it is that it's connected to a 26 gallon bucket, so no having to fill up 3 times a day.

Well, that's all for this time folks!

See you again in a week or so.

Be safe! :joint:

Hope you haven't forgotten about me just yet!

I'm sorry it's not progressing as fast as you may be used to, but I'm waiting on a couple of essential things.

But this I can share:

picture.php

It's gonna be four tables with four ladies on each, the thing in the middle is still the humidifier.

We tested it and it's THA BOMB! Talk about tropical.

Anyways, hopefully things will pick up soon!

:thank you:

Hi ShroomDr, thanks for stopping by!

Thank you, I think (and hope) it's gonna be an awesome setup when it's completely finished.

The goal has been to, as far as its possible, be able to control the environment to 100%.

The only thing that's really missing is CO2, but I feel there's no hurry with that.

Have you used the rope ratchets? Is it easy to lower and raise the reflector with them?

Welcome G!

Yeah, I have really high hopes for this one. A lot of new equipment and such to aid my green fingers.

I'm also very excited about the strains, heard a lot of good about them!

It's been a while-update

It's been a while-update

Right, sorry for the long wait, been mad busy.

I was waiting for the rope ratchets that I ordered and when it had been two weeks and they hadn't turned up yet I got in touch with the company: "Oh, we haven't sent them out yet." WTF!?

Well, I told 'em to shove it and I'm now trying to find another dealer. Any recommendations?

Anyway, here are some pics for ya:

Got the fan+filter combo sorted properly and the reflectors are hooked up with the ventilation.

As you can see, the hangers are less than optimum. I have to use THREE sets of yo-yo's for it to work, but it's a PITA! So I really need to get my hands on those rope ratchets.

This is the water-barrel for the humidifier:

picture.php

And this is the "power station", two lumatek 600's and two lumatek 400's. Then it's two air-pumps and on the bottom shelf is all the connections.

picture.php

The plan is to have a fan blowing across the ballasts to help out with cooling.

That's it for now, look forward to more next week!

Very excited for you...this room looks like it is going to be awesome. What size tent? What strains are you gonna run? Fill us in with more information...

Cheers!!!

Thanks for all the kind words guys! :thank you:

The tent is a Secret Jardin DR300W, it's 10x5x6.5' (300x150x200cm).

The strains are going to be BigBud-X-WhiteWidow and Extreme Indica, both from Female Seeds.

Nutes are Metrop, but I'm thinking of trying out the Lucas formula with GHE. But that's gonna have to wait until the next run. :)

What you can't see cause it's not there is that I'm going to run vertical lights as well.

The hoods are gonna house 600's MH or HPS depending on week, and I'm going to hang 400's MH vertically from each hood. So 2kW total.

Hopefully this will prove a good strategy.

Easter-update

Easter-update

Hello all!

Sorry for the long wait, AGAIN! HAHA...

Ok, where to begin...

This is what it looks like atm:

picture.php

The placement of the cubes might look a little strange, but the idea is to have the cubes (4+4) from two side-by-side trays make a circle. This is because I will be hanging vertical bulbs later on.

I've had 16 out of 17 germinate thus far, however one of them died after a day. Why does that happen?

Anyway, there are 2 Extreme Indicas and 13 WWxBB's.

picture.php

Lizzard view, haha

picture.php

Been having some trouble with condensation on some parts of the ventilation system for the lights. Not much to do tho, it's cold and damp outside atm. Hopefully the fan inside the box doesn't get effected.

Aahh, pure beauty:

picture.php

Trying to keep the pH around 5.6 and the EC is currently 0.7.

Humidity is between 50% and 70% depending on where I measure it.

Day temps are ~80f (27c) and night temps are ~71f (22c).

Looks good so far, feels good too. Since the pictures were taken I've put the lids on the trays and now its just wait and hope that all of the ladies peek thru soon!

Happy easter everyone!

This is exciting ITryToGrow, nice update!

If you don't mind me asking:

Does the humidifier have a control to slow down or shut off when a set humidity level is reached? That would be neat.

I also really like your reservoir posted earlier, I assume it's located outside the tent? How far away from the tent is it?

And I think that's a very excellent Idea to hang your equipment through the tent to the actual ceiling securely! This must take all the load off the tent.

Thanks for sharing your grow! Happy Easter to you!
