howdy all.... thanks for stoppin' in. this is my first grow journal, and i'll do my best to be thorough and detail oriented... i can be somewhat obsessive so i will try to be precise and not too long winded.

i have high hopes for this genetic... i have a magazine article featuring each parent strain, both authors speak very highly and both articles contain some spectacular porn. i purchased these beans from the farm, and had to pay for them twice...:wallbash: (100% at the boo and the bay...need i say more...?)...obviously i wanted 'em .... :dunno:

picture.php

this is a bit close for my cam it would seem... after a go with some lousy WL doublegum beans (frozen/thawed i think) i will be germing in a completely sterile environment from now on...

and 24 hours later.....
picture.php

this morning they went into beer cups filled with botanicare readygro moisture formula flushed with r/o water amended with 10ml. cal-mag plus...

this evening they will be moving into this 2.2 sq. ft. veg box under 3 26W cfl's....as soon as i evict the current tenants...fava beans and lemon cucumbers, the doublegum clone can stay....
picture.php

it's fully mylar'd, and pulls in 105 cfm of 75F air ...at the exhaust it's 85F...there's 2 35 cfm axial fans on makeshift stands that are moved around with the seedlings...... they veg stout and bushy in here with only 76W of light..... :watchplant:

this will be my third coco grow... the first was a complete crash-n-burn failure...my second is now gonna enter 4 weeks flowering and i could not be happier ....:dance013: coco is the bees knees..
picture.php

thnx again for stoppin' in.... be back with more pics as soon as we break ground.....

3 days later... 5 healthy, identical cannabis seedlings...

3 days later... 5 healthy, identical cannabis seedlings...

it was very nice to have an easy, synchronized germination with these beans...

i had to go through 2 weeks of nursing and babysitting to get the doublegums in my closet from bean to seedling, although i am very pleased with 1 of them now...

heres a group shot of everyone except seedling 'a'.
picture.php

and here she is by her self.
picture.php

monday evening, they all got about an oz. each of soil secrets earth ambrosia and earth nectar brewed with b.s. molasses, as it was brewing for another garden which made it easy...
this will get the root ball off to a healthy start.

for the next two or three weeks they'll get cycle watered like a soil grow with r/o + 5ml cal-mag plus. than when i think they have a nice root ball, i'll switch 'em to veg nutes and a daily drain to waste feeding shedule....

right from the get go.... i'm happy. :watchplant:

9 day old cannabis seedlings...

9 day old cannabis seedlings...

:wallbash: just spent hours typing an update... linking photos... freaking out cuz the photos wouldn't post... trying over, and over, and over... than stopping... shoving everything i possibly could in my bong... :hotbounce... only to realize i was linking the URL from the album page, not the pic .... :dunno: i had just figured that out too.... o well. enough of that.

9 days old and very happy.... cannabis 'a'
picture.php

cannabis 'b'...
picture.php

'x', 'y',and 'z' on the left... she's a little lighter in color and has smooth, round serrations on her fingers...
picture.php

...the other 4 are identical in every way so far... i would like it if she stayed defferent.

at this point they are consuming 1oz. of ph'd r/o every other day... almost wet / almost dry...16 on/8 off.

they're obviously gonna move along faster than the doublegums that are in the flower box now did. the cannabis kids future home. ...check pics here...

i may have a bit of a time crunch if they veg fast but i'll muddle through.

.... till next time.... :watchplant:

oops.....

oops.....

:sasmokin:well i fukin did it guys.... :wallbash:

i saw yellow cotylodons at week two and decided to give em a little food.....as i was feeding, i laughed and said to my dog "watch me burn 'em...."

so what happened....:wallbash: i burned 'em...

last time i tried feeding before 3 weeks or 4 nodes i fried the shit outa' my sedlings ........:hotbounce

i told and told myself never again....:wallbash:

it's hard to see in these pics, thats as close as i can get with my droid... going to 'the town' on tuesday to do some camera and hydro stuff shopping....i sure do like buying stuff:dance013:
picture.php

it's only gotten worse since i snapped these pics and it's not stopping yet....
picture.php

like i said the burny spots are hard to see on these....these pics are just not doing the burn justice.... it's creeping into the leave tips and i will loose a set or two of leaves no doubt (hopefully it goes no further)... and i'm sure this will slow us down a solid week or two...

i now have a ppm meter so i'll be taking a different approach to feeding....(once we get that far...lol)

ok..... gonna smash my head into this wall a few more times...:wallbash:...never, ever, ever, again.....AGAIN.

3 weeks later...done burning and growing again

3 weeks later...done burning and growing again

i must say that was a long growth stunt with some hard core frizzle fry...:hotbounce

i didn't want to stress myself out over the situation so i focused on getting my outdoor vegy garden up and running... i had starts in the window that were taking over and had to go out.....
on a side note i have/had a heated greenhouse .... teusday morning a tree broke in the wind and crushed it.... my fava bean stalks survived but are quite a bit shorter now... lost a tray of heirloom tomatoes though....

cannabis 'b'
picture.php

picture.php

cannabis 'a'
picture.php

picture.php

cannabis 'x'.... this one is a little bigger than the rest across the board... and stinks already, kinda 'sour milk'.... thats a male ( more often than not i guess wrong but i like to do it anyways).....
picture.php

picture.php

cannabis 'y'
picture.php

picture.php

cannabis 'z'... this girl started out looking very different from her siblings.... since than she has kept her lighter color but the serations on her fingers have fallen in line with the rest of the crew
picture.php

picture.php

the rained on pics are waking after an 8 hour darkness....the leaf reaching up picks are 10 hours later before moving under the desert sun for another 6 hours... and than back to bed in the veg box...
they get 10 hours of CFL inthe veg box than move outside for another six hours.... they sure do like the sun.

these next 2 pics are after the burning and stunting slowed and some new shoots started to emerge....

picture.php

picture.php

they're now feeding drain to waste daily when the indoor/CFL to outdoor/sun transition happens.... at the moment they feed on a hybrid nutrient solution.....the nute portion of the hybrid is botanicares liquid karma, aqua shield, PBP grow in my tap...mixed at 1 ec.

the tea portion of the hybrid is EWC, alaska fish ferts, happy frog all purpose dry fertilizer, soil secrets earth nectar and earth ambrosia and black strap, unsulphered molasses in r/o... the tea is assembled and brewed over 48 hours than combined with the nutes 1:2... the combined rez sits at 1.5 ec and is ph'd to 5.9.... i cut the solution with r/o to < 1 ec and feed drain to waste at 33% input...

prior to this grow i fed nutes on weekdays and tea's on weekends....thanks to our innovative member pray4pistils, i've taken a different approach to hybrid (synthetic/organic) feeding.........HyNT....Hybrid Nutrient Technique.... and have become obsessed with 'tea' brewing....

they sure don't look like it but they are on their 8th node... that burn took the bottom 3 or 4 sets of leaves from each....:wallbash:

flowering in the closet is taking much longer than expected (this is a very good thing) so every thing is gonna work out just fine as far as veg/flower transition... ...gender #'s will decide who's gonna live inside and who's gonna live outside as we have some young sour bubble's to work with as well....

any thoughts, comments, critique's or questions about my methods or fuk ups are very welcome....

picture.php

they're growing incredibly fast now, obviously enjoying pre-digested, ready to consume nutrients, and some real sunshine every day....

btw... thats my dogs nose in the pic.... he very much enjoys inspecting all the plants and hanging with me while i work in our vegy garden...

'a' and 'y' have pre-flowers today....:woohoo:...

picture.php

picture.php

this is 'z' ... still different than the rest... she's a much lighter shade of green... she has rounded serrations on her fingers, compared to her siblings at least who have shark teeth... her smaller leaves don't even have serrations... looks like basil. she doesn't get tired at the end of the day either, when her siblings are started to relax their leaves and get ready for rest... she's still reaching for the sky.

picture.php

...end of a pretty day... hot even... disregard the sour bubble sprouts, they will have a thread of their own in BOG's forum.

after killing my eyes for 12 hours staring at pre-flowers.....survey says.... 'a' female, 'y' male...

this is all subject to change of course as they are barely visible... flower box will be vacant mid week, few modifications and i will up size to 2 gl. smart pots and in they go...

4 female..... 1 male.

4 female..... 1 male.

this is 'z'.... she's my favorite, and the most indica looking plant i've ever had...

picture.php

when i took that pic 48 hours ago, her sex was still undetermined.... turns out she's female :woohoo:

these i thought were my males....

picture.php

turns out 'b' is also female :jump: good to be wrong... she didn't shoot out monster pistils like the first two females.... this gives me 4 females which happens to be my mature plant count, how convenient, it also makes choosing a male for F2's easy..... 'y', my only male, is gorgeous and stinky.... and identical to 'a' and 'x', even sexing the same night.

picture.php

'a' and 'x' ... identical females that sexed the same day .... this entire crew stinks like sour milk ..... thats what comes to mind anyways.

picture.php

this is 'a', 'x', and 'z' repoted in 2 gl. smart pots, FIM'd, and moved into the flower closet.... they will see no more CFL or high desert sun, it's LED and HPS .... i prefer late harvest, dick in the dirt, extreme couchlock smoke..... loose time frame... 10 weeks, the end of june. my next crop will be flowered outdoor, and this will give me july to veg.... i typically harvest outdoor in mid october.... this all seems like perfect timing to me.... hopefully it plays out that way.

:watchplant:

btw.... harvested my first legal crop monday.... A grade smoke if my little test nug, cut in mid flush is any indication.... she did me proud for a weakling i almost culled in veg..... in fact she saved my ass.

flower box... week 1. color coded cutting's.

flower box... week 1. color coded cutting's.

picture.php

these are my four females... they've left behind their letter ID's and from now on, they, as well as their corresponding clones will be identified by color... it's easier at a glance for an old blind guy like me...

picture.php

here's the four, color tagged cutting's soaking in K-L-N solution in an old dip-n-grow cup... 10 min... a little olivia's cloning gel and into 3" square pots of coco/perlite...

i remove or take half the fingers on the larger fans than i take the dip-n-grow cup which has 1 tsp. of K-L-N diluted 1:20 with r/o and add it to another liter of r/o... this is the clones first batch of food....

they're now in the veg box and get misted 3 times a day for about 3 days and their done...

picture.php

this is my male.... he's in the middle of 6 cycles of darkness broken by one day of sun... this will trigger him to dump pollen immediately which i will gather over the course of 2 or 3 weeks, or till he gives up. the plan is to pollinate a branch or 2 on each female for f2 seed from each.

picture.php

.... my never ending quest for a male encrusted with trich's continues cuz he's not the one... he is incredibly stinky though, more so than the girls in fact.... and very pretty... identical to the first female to pre-sex.

they're being hand watered to waste, twice daily with a hybrid nutrient solution at 1.25 ec...

my early flower hybrid nutrient solution consists of brewed organic tea (all purpose dry fert, high P. bat guano, EWC, maxi-crop liquid, soft rock phosphate, soil secrets earth ambrosia and earth nectar, and black strap molasses), mixed 1:3 with botanicare's PBP hydrogarden formula's lowest #'s at half strength (PBPbloom, liquid karma, sweet, aqua shield, and in place of hydroplex... humbolt's ginormous)...

this combined rez gets ph'd, and topped with a 1/2 tsp.of subculture b to insure diversity of microlife (or in case i killed everything i spent all that 'tea time' growing with my crazy ph'ing antics), and sits aerating at an ec of 2.5. i try to keep the ph around 6 but it likes to rise.

i take what i feed with every night and every morning and dilute to an ec of 1.25, ph, and feed... this will increase weekly till i'm feeding at 2.5 during week 6... the girls will feed on the early flower HyNS through week 3 or 4 and than the rez will change to my late flowering recipe, still in r&d....

if everything goes according to plan i should only have to brew tea and build the rez 3 times per grow...veg, early flower, late flower. this would be ideal, i love my time spent with my cannabis garden, even so, hand watering twice a day can be a bit much... my vegy garden is gonna be massive this season and already requires more time than my little indoor garden...

my most successful FIM to date.

5 new shoots at the FIM.... and 2 from the node below, right next to them.....

good thing.... i lollipopped her when i thought she was a male...:wallbash: losing 4 nice branches...

before 'yellow' here, my best was 3 shoots at the FIM, and typically 2, like a regular topping.

2 weeks into flower....

2 weeks into flower....

picture.php

my best FIM again.....here she is grown out a bit more... should be an interesting top on this plant.

picture.php

these girls are growing fast.... 'blue' in front, on the right, is obviously the lone phenotype... her leaves are very wide. she was the first to start growing resin glands, and the last to start growing flowers. she did not accept her FIM and grew 2 new shoots.

the other 3 girls are identical in every way, except 'white' and 'yellow' have multi top FIMS, and 'red' has a 2 shoot topping. previously i had decided not to top or FIM these girls, after the flip i couldn't help myself, why have one bud where i can have 2 - 5. i prefer to do this 1 week before the flip, not sure if these will stretch into branches or multi angular tops....:dunno:

i've studied many pics of the parent strains.... 'blue' seems to have the indica leaves of the spacedawg but seems much more squat and stout... the other girls seem to have several chemD visual traits.... lanky internodes, red petiole's, them jagged, sharp, sativish indica leaves with very linear veins. and a pronounced zig-zag in her stem growth...

picture.php

my studs double serrations....

picture.php

....he moved out into one of my vehicles today... i can't have the cats trucking pollen into the back room on them fuzzy little tails.... :kitty: ....

picture.php

....bananas. (i got a new camera, lots of macros on the future... :dance013:)

i love green growing things.... putting a plant on death row is tough for me. i like this guy, but i will be letting him go once i harvest some pollen. he sure does stink, if only he had some trichs....

2 weeks, 4 days...

2 weeks, 4 days...

picture.php

.... this guy opened the day after i took him out of the house... he's kickin' it in the cab of an old pick up truck for now.

'red'...

picture.php

... two tops. she's got something showing up in her lower to mid level sun leaves... i'm thinking coco calcium hog or wet feet something or other... no worries though. stress free grows...

wanted to do this without my bottle of cal-mag+, but i'm starting to toss the idea around a bit.

'white'...

picture.php

... future nuggets.

'blue'...

picture.php

... she has lots more leaf and much smaller bud sites... all the way to the bottom of every stem ... :dunno: she's very different.

'yellow'...

picture.php

... the top of the FIM... yellow and white stretched like crazy... started a bit of LST with yellow who looks like she's gonna have a good 7 tops up high...

i've always been one to ride stupid close to my lamps but i backed off on this grow as per advice of 'the rev', didn't seem to slow anything down but i'm wondering about the stretch...i am using less wattage and an LED in that wattage... i read chemD was about 150%... we passed that...

the FIM'd girls stretched much more than the topped girls... gonna log that away.

on a side note... i weighed my previous harvest finally...whitelabel doublegum.. single plant.. 2 gl pot.. over a 1/4 bow.. :headbange

super frosty, A grade, petrol, bubble funk... smokes like a dream post large container/pre-jar cure...she dried rock hard and heavy at 5.1 z's... twice what i was expecting. first time i dabbled with shock/on the vine ripening... gonna keep playing with that.

if i can pull half that per plant this grow, i would rack away my possession limit... 6 z's. and make a 1/4 lb. into bubble...

sleepy time... where's my cat...? :cathug:

quick pics.. 3 weeks...

quick pics.. 3 weeks...

these are both 'yellow'.... taken at lights on, 1 day shy of week three.

picture.php

.... i got my eye on her, she seems to the best grower

picture.php

...."yellow' again.

'white' is 'yellow's twin in every way.

'blue' has lost my interest...her little buds are about 1/5 the size of her siblings, her trichs match in proportion... growing alot of leaf though. lol

'red's issues persist and advance... i've backed off watering to once per day, that should eliminate any 'wet feet' issues... and i'm no longer gonna dilute my nutrient solution with r/o, but tap at 0.5 ec. this is my attempt to have sufficient calcium and magnesium (supplied by my very hard water) for the coco to hog up, without resorting to a cal-mag supplement... which i have but don't wanna use... i'm gonna get a r/o filter so all this will change at some point.

this week the girls will be feeding at 1.75 ec.

i was 'harvesting' pollen this afternoon and basically took a bath in it.... :wallbash:

so... i decided to move my male all the way across the property into a small workshop i have... and re-think my pollen gathering technique.
