Easy scrog + 126w LED + 150w hps

Hello micro growers. I want to share my xcrog setup. It may help some of you. I got a shoebox from Walmart and after some holes and zip ties, I came up with this. The screen is from a baby/pet gate I had laying around but also available from Wallyworld.
The posts can be mounted by zip ties to pots too but I recently started using the shoebox itself to grow in, drainless.



Here is what I have done with it.
OG18 last November



I rushed a Bluewidow into flower below.


Here is my current grow in veg taken Jan 7
126w Led and 150w hps. I recently doubled the cab size and used LED for the new extension. HPS side is 24w x 24d x 48h, led side is 26w x 24d x 48h



Here it is Jan 18. 3 days into 12/12. The superbud is at 6 days 12/12.



My favorite strain is HGS superbud.



I squashed my bosai mothers under a screen because I didn't have anything else to flower under the leds. I have new clones going to replace them.


Don't compare one side to the other, they are different strains, and veg times.

Actually, the HPS side containers are dark green with algae already. They have been vegging longer. But I just checked and the canopy is already thick enough that there is hardly any light getting to the containers and the floor. The first time I used these clear containers (last year) I rationalized that I like the clear containers because I could see how wet it was in there. They don't have holes and when I water, I put enough to keep a little pool of nutes at the bottom. I know what you're thinking... root rot, but I have been experimenting and so far so good. I use 50oz nutes every 3/4 days and the bottom pool seems to be gone by next day. Maybe next grow, I can paint them black.

Another question: what do you do if you need to flush the plants? I guess this is more of a drainage-less system than your specific setup, but I'll ask it anyways.

The only way I can see this working is if you have been doing this long enough that your plants never have any nutrient deficiencies or excesses. You'd have to understand your grow medium perfectly and have a very precise nutrient schedule.

Well, my plan was always to drill holes if and when I needed them. Then tape them up afterwards.

You are right. I don't claim to have it perfected but I have been following almost the same nute schedule on these strains, with very little variation. And I try to always be on the conservative side.

For flowering I currently use the tripack of FF. Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz and Chaching. I only use 1/4 per gallon all the time. My variation on this is alternating this with Shultz + Fish Juice Dr.Bud style. But I have not done that since my OG scrog last Nov (first picture on first post).

The only time I had a nute deficiency/lock out was when I used 1/2 tsp per gallon of Beastie, well at least that is what I suspected. Ever since then I only use 1/4 tsp.

My medium has been consistent for 3 grows now. 2/3 Promix Ultimate and 1/3 perlite.

Nothing exciting happening. All look delayed by 1 week. Must be the temps. Ambient night temp is only 55F. Anyway here is what they look like now.

Whatup, x.man. I really like the x.cab and the thread started out like an Indiana Jones movie (with a bang.) That OG looks mouth watering and everything else is clean and mean. Hope you don't mind, I'll plan to stick around and watch that monster on the HPS side.

I think I heard LEDGirl say those 126w LEDs compare to 400 watts HPS. I'm glad you have one. I might even spill retail if it looks like they'll kick a 150hps' ass.

Hey DiscoBiscuit! Thanks for dropping in. I too am excited for these LEDS but there is so much to adjust for LEDS. Right now I don't have enough heat and night time temps are dropping too low, into the low 50s. The ladies are not drinking enough. Well, we'll see... all the ladies are late. But particularly all the OGs. The superbud and BW are only about a week or so late. The OG looks 2 weeks late.

I am not going to add heat and let the grow continue as is.

And here is something I found the Home of DePot.
I saw a "New item" tag on these so I wanted to share with all you micro growers.
It is a new 2 foot T5 lamp. It comes in 1 lamp and 2 lamp configurations. The 2 lamp costs $24 and change. It isn't HO, each lamp is only 14w so each fixture is 28w. It fits my new homedepot Closetmaid cab exactly.

Hello to all.

One of my OGs developed balls so it got mulched.

Here is what is left.

Supebud at day 55. She isn't as fat as I am used to. But I will take what I can get. She gets her last nutes tomorrow.

Here is the last OG I have. It is around 2 weeks late.

112w of T5 goodness.




I will be working on ventilation/scrubber next.
