Massachusetts Super Skunk

Hi all,

Does anyone know the lineage of Mass. Super Skunk, or more about the strain? I'm growing it now for the first time, and I'm at day 59-60 right now. I just hit it with a tiny bit of overdrive and gravity to see if I could get it to harden, and it looks huge, but I don't know how long it's SUPPOSED to take. I talked to one person growing this cut and they cut at day 60 and thought they might be able to go longer.

I know that it's one of the parents of Sour D, but I can't seem to figure out who its parents are. Is this one of Sam's?

I'll barter with some shots of her from a couple of days ago :)

Nice buds there darookie , I used to grow exclusively MSS for several years and rumor was that she was an outstanding pheno found in 1986 Sensi seeds Superskunk .

I'm surprised that it's not more mature at that age as we used to take her at 56-60 days every time . It was the general consensus at the time that beyond that the flavor seemed to degrade a bit . Though sometimes things take longer to mature in the summer months .

Sick ass budshots, MSS has to be one of my fav strains playing such a heavy role in SourDiesel. Cant go wrong with the superskunk, she would probably go to a 60-70 if you wanna take her earlier I would just go with whatever the trich's are tellin ya

Thanks, I think I might have gotten off to a bit of a slow start - one day early on she wilted (I was using a 2 gal smartpot at the time - they are great, but you have to learn to water them correctly and religiously - I think I might use them in an ebb and flow table soon) and needed a quick transplant. I put her into a huge ("5 gal" rose bucket), so it took a little time for her to adjust to her new home, which may have delayed a little. This is actually the end of my first grow, so I probably made tons of mistakes other than the watering one :) I don't think she was getting enough light for part of the time, so I swapped out the cool tube and got a real reflector (magnum xxxl 6"). That may be part of the reason that it was delayed. It's actually fattened up quite a bit in the past 4 or 5 days (I just noticed the picture was taken a little longer ago than I thought).

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on them like I have been, just wanted to see if I was way off on my estimates :)

Great grow there bud.:joint:
Thanks man, would you believe it's my first? :) Beginners luck, maybe? I have a lot of good teachers, lol.

Here she is 5 minutes ago, I think she's getting ripe and almost completely done. Frosty as hell, and what an aroma! Glad I got the big carbon filter! Amazing genetics.

Yep, I'm really enjoying it, I've never grown anything other than a bonsai before this. Yes, it's a dispensary cut. I got it from harborside in oakland. What made you decide to stop growing it?

Very nice, running this girl outside, looks like the yield should be good from what I see here.

wat are u running her under, light/medium
600W hps with a couple of reptile lights for supplemental UVB. I vegged her for about 4-5 weeks in a smart pot filled with fox farms ocean forest, which I wasn't crazy about (the soil, not the pot), and after I came home one night and she was wilted, I transplanted her to a 5 gallon square rose bucket with Canna Bio terra. I think she was one of the few plants in this grow that I didn't stunt very significantly :) - she's pretty much been green the entire time. I'm about to cut my first branch, just sterilizing my equipment (and washing my scissors too :joint: - bad joke).

For nutrients, I used cutting edge solutions with H&G drip clean added, plus a small amount of big bud for a few feedings and one dose of canna boost (it may have been too late in the window, I talked to a rep from canna during week 3 of flower and he thought it might be a bit too late, but that it was worth a shot). I added some snowstorm ultra, which didn't seem to do much (I think it needs more carbs to work most effectively), and some bud candy, which I discontinued when my other plants all started to smell the same. I added VermiTea for the past couple of weeks, which is really good stuff, and for her last feed (since I wasn't 100% on the harvest window), I gave her Canna Bio Flores instead of cutting edge, since it's molasses-based and less likely to leave buildup imo). I gave her one tiny dose of overdrive (again, possibly too late) and gravity to see if I could finish her a bit faster, and I have used Sugaree for the past couple of weeks.

Well , I grew up in western mass and have been very fond of our heirlooms for some time now but this clone seems to have faded in it's dankness a bit . It just never comes out as flavorful as it used to . These days I have come to prefer the Chem . Don't get me wrong , I wouldn't turn her down in any way , I just don't feel the need to go home and find her . On the other hand if she popped up locally I would not hesitate to make some room . Stoked to hear she's available on the West coast .

Skunk#1 x Afghan (Mazar)
Released in 1990.
The parent stock were of sams materials, but it was bred by sensi seeds

check the sensi website for the whole story on superskunk

and the slowed flowering was most likely due to a growth issue unrelated to the genetics
