BOG Box of green, new take on SCROG

L

lysol

Obtain a recycling bin and fill it to the top with 2 parts perlite, 1 part peat moss 1 part potting soil. Obtain some wooden dowels and gorilla glue. Form a screen as show in the picture, Instead of just growing around the screen you can grow around the edges. If you were doing more than 1 plant you would get more screen coverage. You try to hang your lights in the middle so the side buds grow inwards. This screen has 12 square feet of surface area, I only filled the bottom of the screen and got 100+ budsites and a QP, and that is overwatering the whole time, only had the HPS for the last few weeks and vegged with CFL. The important part here is air flow. You will be trucking out ziplocks of dead vegetation & pruned undergrowth, you will need a good air flow directly under the canopy.

Why arent my attachments showing up? I uploaded them to a hosting site. When you clcik the htumbnail click the preview a 2nd time to view the full high-rez images.

bud smoked fine.

Ah, the old circular ScrOG. A tried and true favorite. Well done.

You may want to create an album here at IC for your pics.

What's happening underneath? That a Hempy Bucket?

Welcome aboard.

u should check out a vertical scrog,,its similiar to what u do,but much more efficiant,,basically u take chicken wire and make a cylinder around the pot, with the pots going inside,,the hid,or cfls go in the center hung vertically,,and u train the plants to grow around this circular vertical screen going around the bulb,,i have pics from another site,im not sure if im allowed to link it,,but i will start this grow in a about a week,,again yr method is tight,,you might wanna check out the V scrog though :p

v-scrog was my inspiration. It was planted in a recycling bin like I said and LSTd before the screen was built. I didnt want to veg just to grow all that stem to reach a vertical screen. This had buds 1" from the stem base. But yeah I made lots of mistakes, the first was the holes in the screen are too small so i snapped more stems then I needed to. I was stupid and vegged it for months and then harvested premy but still got 100g like I said. I would not recommend using 12 gallons of soil for a single plant, too hard to keep even moisture.

Yeah, I was thinking lastnight and I remembered I modeled this after a stadium scrog I saw on icmag a while ago, much larger full room. The idea is with a flat or v-scrog ( cylinder ) you get an "equator" where light is the most intense. Stadium scrog attempts to form a convex "bowl" equally around the light to maximize lumens, especially for CFL

"Vertical Systems" thread, meet this thread.

The Box of Green is actually not new really (not the concept or the name) - but besides that I'm 100% on top of this thread because, as some of you have read me rant elsewhere, this style of grow is the future of small-scale home growing IMHO.

Been investigating scalable variations on this too, as well as trying to find better materials with which to do it (especially screen & screen-frame supplies).

Hah the grow is over. That was my first plant. That was 8+ harvests ago. Now I'm on some other shit, hehe. FYI I Know its not new ( sorry for misleading title ), I just feel like I found a cheap way to implement, recycling bin = free, lighting cost under $50 for a minimal setup ( I got a little extra lumen though ), and medium, couple $1 dowel rods, some glue..

It was funny when I ask at home depot, where is the chicke wire, the guy goes CHICKEN WIRE? im like yeah mang i got these fuckin chickens man all over my house I need to coupe em up lol

Hey ok so now how do I upload my avatar. It showd me predefined ones but offers no option to upload a graphic. Does an admin need to unlock me?

a v scrog dialed in,,,is obviously much more efficiant then any other growing style, for micro grows,it uses every inch of the bulb,,how can u compare?
i see a lot of thread on v scrog,,,,and countless times i see the people set it up right, and hang the light vertically but dont train the plant right,,to grow vertically nice and uniform,,you have to constanly train the branches to grow around the back of the screen, kinda like a pinstripe going upward,,until u think u filled it in enough,,u flip continue this training against the back of the screen, and then when the stretch period is over u let it go and flower up,,this way u have it trained nicely :p sounds easy in theory, lol

Hey Floydfanx6-

Great point about the screen training. Would you care to provide more details for us, please? You mean training 'em so the tips always get woven into the screen towards the top?

lysol lookin nice! veg on that is going to suck but the result will be worth it.

floydfanx6, you gotta check out my cab before you say "everyone" in the doing training part. i gotta full screen with 3 weeks veg, pretty well spaced too.

vertical is the way of the future for efficiency!
