That Old Familiar Feeling

It usually happens sometime in March. I step out of the cabin and it hits me. She's coming around. Spring. A friendly nod from the Mom upstairs to get cracking....lots of preps to get in order. Gotta stay ahead of the curve (yeah right) and not get too far behind this year. 20 years and still learning.

What beans do I still have? Oh yeah, those. Ahhhhh, and the new generation of stuff out of Mendo. Oh, almost forgot the Mango cross I made too. Strawberry Cough IBL from the mystery man down the road? Nope, I'll save those for indoor. Hmmmmm. Oh yeah, the local crosses my buddy made before he moved to Cali. Gotta revive a few of those this year. No more finicky clones that trigger if you look at them wrong. This year is about pre-sexed seed starts. A challenge all their own.....

To the MANY that have come before me: You are my inspiration, as I lurked and lurked.......and lurked some more, you were here. Laying it all down at CW and OG, you are the global pioneers. My hat is off to you, and this is my small offering to the collective that is now ICMAG. I will sit by the wayside no longer.

So here in no particular order is a smattering of NorCal varieties and F2 crosses of NorCal varieties that have been grown for a few generations in my neck of the woods.

Blueberry X Hashplant- Has its issues but well worth the bitchiness. Massive colas, extreme flavor that makes me wonder if the smallest bit of Haze may have been infused many gens ago. Monstrous yield. A true KEEPER. Bred in Mendo by anonymous grower so a lot is left to the imagination.....

Burmese Kush- new variety for me in 2009. An Indica Dom pheno and 50/50 pheno are lined up. Fingers crossed, hoping for greatness. Aren't we all??!!

Pink Bush- An Afghani dominant that throws intensely pink calyx formations. Not all phenos exhibit this, we'll see what we get in 2009. Smell is on the crazy bubblegum end of the spectrum. Truly fruity, medium yields.

K1- Tried and true, a truly loyal girlfriend. Stable as granite. HUGE yields, freakishly aggressive root system, respectable potency. Built on NorCal genetics and acclimated to my locale. My "go-to" daytime smoke. I can still go to the bank and post office on this.....everybody needs a daytime girl right?

LJ-- Another Cali bred acclimated variety like K1 but a lot dirtier. Straight up grease and turpentine. Fan leaf frost. A bit finicky indoors but she was bred to be OUT!!! Excited to see what she does in 2009.

If you noticed I left out my own Mango cross, she and her 10 sisters are inside under 3X600W HPS.....stay tuned. I need to make more beans by crossing back to Mango male and she'll be a major player in 2010........

A note on updating this: I will try to do my best but expect one or two per month for now....I can answer questions easily but photo updates will be kept to a low frequency....

Now, after proper courting, I lift my skirt for you....:woohoo:

MP-- Thanks for the warm welcome and you can probably tell I'm a bit of a newb to the online deal!! I'm really excited to see how the gals do this year, I'm expecting them to really start taking off in the next couple weeks. Thanks for dropping in to my little spot, you're welcome anytime!

CBF- We could use a bluebird day round these parts, huh? All the moisture is great but let's see that sun again!!

Just fed the ladies and gave em a Kelp foliar spray too. Will start making compost and castings tea when the ladies start bushing out....

Hope everybody else is doing well on their current projects....

Hey there everybody, couldn't help myself and thought it was time for a little update on everything. Vegging along nicely now! I also wanted to get a few pics before I start installing supports, there's something about a completely untrained ganja plant that I just love. I truly believe in training to achieve a more productive and stronger overall plant but I almost feel bad everytime I go in and start messing with em, especially when they are just hitting their stride!

Best wishes to everyone on a bountiful 2009 inside and OUT!!!

Discobiscuit--plenty of chairs in the front row still :D

Oh well....on with the ladies...

Thanks for all the kind words folks!! They are certainly getting the attention they deserve...I've got some more pics of some garden friends (spiders and dragonflies) that I'll try to get up tonight too....

Cellardwellar-- I broke new ground this year and the girls live in what used to be part of a sheep pen. Prepared the entire footprint of the G-House by tilling and amending with my own compost, alfalfa meal and 15 bags of FoxFarm soil conditioner (Not the potting soil, this stuff comes in big blocks like you find PeatMoss sold in). So that was about 18" deep, then built frames on top of the entire pepared "bed". The frames are 30" by 12" tall and are filled with a blend of my own compost, native top soil and two full bags each of Happy Frog Soil and Ocean Forest soil.....and what's left of my bad back!!! I can't dig BIG DEEP holes here due to heavy clay not allowing water to move down.....plants sit in water and suffer...so I have to build the soil profile up as well as down to achieve enough root-space....

Big T!! Thanks again!! Glad you're enjoying the show!

Ninja---Thanks....in a "hate you too" kinda way ;-)

Colina---Many thanks, I know you understand....
