My Cfl Computer Grow

ok so its 2 cfl's @ 5000k lumens with an acrylic shield under them to cool them with the fans on the back, there is 1 intake fan and 2 fans that are just moving air around. what do yall think and what advice u wanna give a noobie? getting pix up in about 2 mins.

and what would be the best way to lower the temp i notice that its running about 78-85 ish when the lights are on?

Cooling comes from air exchange. Turn the fan around so it's an exhaust and give the cab an intake somewhere at the bottom. Because of the small wattage, an intake equal in size to the exhaust may do.

Yup, what freezerboy said. I'm pretty sure this has been done somewhere on here - you could flip the fan at top left so it's an exhaust, cut a slice of acrylic off the right (enough to equal your intake size I guess) and have an intake at the bottom left. So the air flows in bottom left, up to top right, thru the gap in the acrylic, then rushes past the bulbs cooltube style and exhausts top left.

Looks like you have some planted so best of luck!

Why dont you remove DVD/HD holder? You get more space!

where the dvd's are there is all the electronics for the box including power strip, timer for the lights, 2 power adapters for fans. the dvd drive area serves as a support for the acrylic glass and also completes its airway path.
i really dont need any extra room.

You're choking the cab. You can't suck out more than you suck in. "Venting for Dummies" is 3 holes per fan. One at the top for the exhaust fan, two open, passive intakes at the bottom (some here use 4 intakes per fan). As it is, you've placed the bottleneck inside at the exhaust rather than outside at the intake. This kills airflow, air exchange and cooling.

As to intake fans, you CAN pump in more than you suck out. That's positive pressure and it only comes from intake fans. The best way to avoid generating positive pressure is to remove the positive pressure generators, aka intake fans.

so you recommend either installing a second fan at the bottom for an intake or take one exhaust fan out? prob the best and what do you mean 4 intakes per fan

Sorry, disregard my post, I misunderstood how you had it operating. Would it be possible to draw a diagram showing the fan setup and which fans are doing what? I only see 2 and I'm not really understanding.

One other thing though in terms of safety, you have some pots resting on top of a power supply or fan controller or something? You're dicing with danger there, friend. Even if you drain the pots outside the cab, they could still leak a bit out later. Or you could be rushed one day or whatever. Even if you use a drip tray, it's still bad practice to have any water above electrics where it could spill. I try to keep all electrics, even 12v, off the floor.

LOL j/k ne way yea ill get some pictures up in about 30 mins imma rig up a secondary intake fan so i can have 2 intake 2 exhaust fants

alright, so its been 2 days since iv planted them, no growth at all so far keeping the cubes nice and moist but not over watered, and here are some new pictures with a new fan and ill explain the airflow.

the air intakes from the bottom 2 fans and through the case and leaves out of the 2 fans on the top. so far the heat has gone down significantly, but ill have to check out the heat in the day time again.

Personally, I'd recommend removal of all intake fans. You need to know your stuff for that.

Again, Venting for Dummies (like me) is 3 equal sized holes per fan. The fan goes to the hole at the top for exhaust and two at the bottom left open for intake. Some here punch 5 equal sized holes. One at the top for exhaust and four at the bottom, open for intakes.

I'm using 2X and my fan ramps up and down every time I close or open the door respectively. I'd punch a third intake but, my freezer is double steel wall construction. A 4" hole is an all day job.

well i installed that fan and i was going to look at the temp today but its overcast outside so my house is a nice and chilly right now.... its currently at about 75 F will report back with the temp tomorrow and still haven't seen any growth at alll

so far one of the seeds has sprouted the others havent yet tho... i really dont know why but im willing to give it more time, here are some of the pictures im keeping the 3 that havent sprouted in the top area closer to the light and the one that has sprouted in the center.
