September Finishing Strains for 44N

Hunting season starts on October 1st and I blame those assholes on ripping my crop last season. Good spot with good soil in a desolate location but they were around in masses when i went to harvest in October. I have a nice clone that finishes late september but I am looking for a more variety and also the chance for germinating some seeds at the spot.

I need some opinions and experience with these strains or other strains that i can now purchase. Must be low mold and finish in September. If you feel that any of these won't finish by october or the potency sucks then speak up. I won't be wasting my time or money on those strains. Anything I'm missing?

For begin/mid sept. finish: mighty mite, maroc, leb27, guerilla gold.
End sept. finish: purple #1, durban posion from dutch passion and maybe early sativa from female seeds.
I would grow durban poison because anything else has small production or weak potency

Biddy worked for me at around 44 and humid as hell.

I've got nirvana early misty, durban (loved the dutch passion durban I grew inside), and Hollands hope for outdoor this year along with Holy grail by verite.

Sensi star is mould prone and while there is one pheno that will finish by the end of sept. its not that common and your much more likely to finish out 2nd 3rd week of oct.

Damn what a list.
The sensi's hindu kush will just barely finish but really needs until the first week of oct.
the sativa pheno of mandala 1 will finish but the indica phenos are 10 days later.

Every northern lights strain ive grown finished but they will all mould in the last few weeks.
Orange bud will finish but is a mould magnet
Aurora indica will finish but the last 2 weeks will mould

my experience with passion #1 is that it isnt worth growing at any lat.

I think it should be mentioned that any hunter interested in serious hunting will most likely scout for spore or trace of the quarry they hunt in the weeks before the opening. Since your area has the main hunting season starting in October you may do well to account for a very early September or even late August plant.

You can always use a potent auto flower and use it to hit your cut and see if it then finishes before the rush. I think that it is likely to surprise you an singe cross with a new generation auto. My tests reveal progeny that is very similar to the original plant with the exception of outpacing the original in growth and flowering sooner and faster. As far as the smoke goes it was very close to the original strain in both smell and high. Believe it or not the resin content is up from the original plant. I was surprised by this but I have also seen that some well known breeders use autos to bring out certain traits. I am presuming that this increased resin and faster flowering time may be the primary reasons.

Since autos are affordable you may consider it. I am able to both clone and revegge my f1 crosses without a fuss and they are really vigorous mothers in my little mother chamber vegging happily on a 24h light schedule.

Then again that can take a few months to get some seeds so perhaps that's to much of a delay or bother when you can just get a pack, lol.

very true. i've seen them set up their tree stands and camp in the preceeding months. thing is there are soooo many bucks around here that they don't usually have to do much prep work or baiting. this season i caught an 8-point buck chewing on my crop.

my main concern with autos was that i couldn't clone them and potency. i see i was wrong. they stay in veg under 24h? i was looking at the auto ak47, from lowlife, which is 70 days from seed, maybe 60 after rooting? i could harvest all through august and september with that one. what do you think about this strain?

breeder description
Automatic AK47 Seeds per pack : 10 Type : Autoflowering, mostly sativa hybrid Height : 14 – 24 inches Harvest date : 10 weeks from seed Yield : 20 – 40g per plant Ideal light regime : 20/4 from seed to harvest Ideal pot size : 5 – 7litres Environment : Indoors/Outdoors Effect : Giggly/High/Mild Munchies

The new wave of autoflowering hybrids is finally here, and leading from the front is the Automatic AK47! Our first foray into the autoflowering world and still our favourite. Crossing the very best AK47 we could find with the autoflowering genes of Lowryder, we have produced a strain that is the perfect blend of the two. Everything that we loved about the AK47 has been left intact from its beautiful aroma and resin encrusted buds through to its unique bud structure and astonishing potency. The cross with Lowryder means that now it can be grown virtually anywhere. Balconies, patios, window boxes, indoors or outdoors, connoisseur grade marijuana is now attainable for every grower. Autoflowering strains flower in response to age rather than light cycle. Automatic AK47 will grow vegetatively for approximately 14 days then enter into a rapid, almost violent flowering period. For the next 56 days they will branch out profusely, throw out pistils in their thousands, calyxes will swell and a coating of resin glands will make the mature plant glisten as if dusted with fine diamonds. Odour levels are quite high and a large quantity of flowering females can certainly produce quite an aroma! There are 2 distinct variations in aroma, one is somewhat spicy and the other is sweet but both types produce the same effect. Previously, especially in the northern hemisphere, the average grower was limited to the strains one could grow successfully. Now with Automatic AK47 you can grow marijuana that before, many would have no chance of fully ripening under natural outdoor conditions. With a lifespan of a mere 70 days from seed to harvest it is not only possible to get an early harvest of high quality marijuana but multiple harvests per season. Indoors, a perpetual harvest has never been easier to maintain. The increased height compared to earlier autoflowering strains brings with it increased yield. Indoors under lights is the optimum growing environment for Automatic AK47, coupled with a light regime of 20/4 and adequate rootspace, yield can easily surpass 40g per plant but even outdoors with no supplemental lighting during summer, 30g per plant is very common. We believe that our Automatic AK47 is the most potent autoflowering hybrid available as well as the heaviest yielder.

they wont veg as they are...but breed them to your favorite regular strain, and the most of the hybrids(F1's) will hold onto the early traits as well as pick up the ability to veg under 24/0. the following generations starting with f2's will be all over the place, but the F1 generation is usually pretty even... the other benefit to a hybrid cross like that is the vigor the f1s have. they will grow twice as well and strong as either parent:woohoo:

Great reply Mr.Stinky. Have you had good results with F1 auto crosses? That's exactly my plan for this year. Lowlife Auto AK47 crossed with my favorite mothers. I may even try to feminize them with silver and grow from seed only.
If it works it would solve the problems I've had before with "photo sensitive" August/September strains that would revegg as soon as I put the clones out.
These F1 crosses should shave off at least a few weeks in harvest times as well as yeilding a heck of a lot more than 1 foot tall straight autos.
By the way, Mandala #1 was great and done in early september (44N) but molded bad for me due the the rock hard buds. I'm doing it again but will apply green-cure anti-fungi spray.

Six F1 Blockhead x LR#1

Six F1 Blockhead x LR#1

These girls were sprouted and grown outside and at about sixty days are starting to come into flower, number five actually started early and was done about thirty days after this shot while the rest would finish in July with 3 or more ounces each.

(gotta love cheap irrigation equipment, lol)

The unnumbered one in the black bag on the left is another semi-auto strain that gave a very nice yield with colas from tip to the main stem thick as can be. I will run more of that this season.

Number 5 harvest pics:

as Mr. Stinky describes the autos can not reveg and wont clone with any real yield. You would cross the auto male with your cutting and use the seeds from the cross. The seeds would finish sooner than the original cutting and still be quite similar to the original cutting in smell, taste and potency. The could be cloned and revegged.

If you were to get the auto AK I would use a male on your cut and expect an an early harvest in late august or perhaps the first week of September. I'm not sure how the cross would turn out as I have not grown the auto AK. It would probably have very good vigor, the examples above are sixty days from sprouting and you can see that they are doing very well, even in the small containers.

I can get away with very dense colas like the #5 above as the weather is still great in this part of the season. Later in the season I would not be able to harvest something like #5 without a percentage of mold loss in marine layer moisture.

Eight points, that would fill a freezer pretty well no?:yoinks:

excuse my ignorance. what about fem. auto ak47 pollen x my cut? would that create 100% fem auto seeds this F1?

i order seeds today, receive in 10 days, germ in 4, colladial silver sprayed at 4th node, pollen in 30-40 days after germ, another 25 days to harvest my female plant. 1-2 month seed dry. like 5-6 months total for a seed run. maybe ready by june-july for planting. almost not enough time for this season.

we got some of the best huntin and fishin around my parts. can't blame folks for trying to feed their families that way. not for me though, i can't kill.

Ready1, You just descibed my game plan for this year, except I'm a bit ahead of you with my auto ak soaking in a paper towel today. I thought I was right on track but you mentioned having to wait 1-2 months for the seeds to dry? That had not occured to me. If that's the case, there may be not enough time for our late summer harvest of F1 hybrids.
Do seeds really need a drying out period?

id like to hear others take on the seed drying time, but i actually had 2 seeds germinate in moldy heads before they were harvested 3 years ago in that warm november... gives new meaning to "auto" huh? :D

seeds typically do better after being stratified, and i always chill all mine for at least a few days before i germinate. i dont think MJ needs stratification, but it sure doesnt hurt because i usually get 100% germination rate. i keep seed in a chilly crawl space, and any seed you order in the winter gets a good chill sittin on the mail truck...

i dont think there would be any loss by germinating seed right out the cases... i will be finding out for myself soon :)

You don't need to dry the seeds at all really; I've had seeds sprout right on the bud before....What will help the germination rate if you don't have time to dry is putting them in the fridge in a zip lock with some uncooked rice for a few days. The short cold snap seems to help....
