Had the surgery last Friday and this time had a chemo treatment that made me kind of sick for a couple days. All the blood work and urine says negative cancer but waiting the the biopsy to see if i need more treatments. So I'm at my house in Bogota with a catheter for 7 days. My partner decides I need a nurse to hang out all day with me and make sure i take the meds (which I do anyway). Don't really like having someone hovering around but I can't get out of it so I deal with it. I expect full recover in a few days and then it's back to the finca for construction.

The nurse

The nurse

Maybe she can do the important stuff, ya know, massages and joint rolling:)

One of the more challenging aspects of have a catheter in for a week is to not get an erection because they are super painful, as I'm sure one could imagine. And almost all the medical people that work on me are female from the doctors to the house nurse and as you can also imagine they are all young and sexy. So I spend 95% of my time NOT thinking about sex and avoiding and type of wood provoking situations. Not an easy task, but the alternative too painful to disregard.
I vape all day long just to be able to stay quite and not move around but I need time to work on/be with my plants. The nurse doesn't seem to understand that I need time in the garden to heal, not laying in bed all day.

Right now I'm pressing forward with my finca, last week in spite of the rain we were able to grade the greenhouse area. Now trying to get the two greenhouses up and ready for the license inspection due for next week. It's an incredible array of bullshit to sift through to set everything up for the legal requirements that only the lawyers seem to know.

The doctor recommended that I not travel for a week so I'm stuck in the house and just got to wait it out. While at the same time try not to get aroused being massaged by a 25 year old university student. Ha ha ha, the shit one must go through just to grow a little smoke. I really appreciate all the good vibes and support as one day I hope to have some really nice vintage Colombian to share.

Something rotten in Bogota

Something rotten in Bogota

Back to 100% after 10 days with the catheter and now I'm going to take a short break with my kids while their out of school next week. Their mother has another cannabis investor (Colombian) that wants to take us to a finca in the llanos where they got swimming pools and activities for the kids. Also where they want to start a licensed cannabis operation.
But here's the deal, my "business" partner got wind of where I'm going and suddenly decides we need a "contract" but gave no details about it. Now that's not what I was lead to believe up to this point, she told me we were partners in the company (still pending licensing). I was under the impression that I would be a 50% owner of the company, not a contracted "employee". Now my business associate called my ex (they hate each other) asking for health insurance info. and told her she was going to offer me some sub par contract. My ex told her to get fucked and then my called me in a panic. She said (business associate) she was worried because her "investors" needed me to be "contracted" without offering a reason why. I responded calmly by saying not to worry about my ex and that I would need to review the contract before committing to anything. And I told her that I was under the impression that we were going to be partners in the company, not a contracted employee. And she said oh yeah I would "own" a percentage of the company, without saying how much of a percent. Sensing bullshit, I said great, not to worry but that I only needed time to review the contract before signing. She responded with added bullshit saying her investors were in a big hurry for my "contract" and would need it no later than this coming Monday, again not explaining why.
So here I am, I'm going to pacifie her until I can check out the other deal in the llanos because I don't want to have any problems with them while I'm gone on my trip with the kids. I have all my plants seeds and clones in her house in Bogota (where I live alone) and I can't risk losing my work. But the deal is foul and I won't accept any super low ball contract when there are many opportunities here. I can smell the bullshit coming and I must say I'm very disappointed that once again I am being duped. And now I wonder how much truth my business associate has actually said about all our other projects.

There's an article in High times about Colombia being the new cannabis seed heaven, might be that people are sensing this and going a bit crazy in advance, so beware of capitalistic wolves with hidden agendas. Hopefully the contract will be good for you and the company percentage too.
My fingers are crossed,
have a great weekend Red!

P.S. that hash fruit looks so gooood :)

Red rider good luck with your recovery and bussiness venture.
I’ve been taken advantage of enough to get the same familiar sick feeling just reading your story.
Never for large amounts of money or twice from the same person though.
Trust is important but so is confirming the facts involved. Stay smart about it.
Hope the involved contract is fair and everything works out, looking forward to reading more of your endeavors.

Hey redrider! Sorry to hear about your health issues, hope it turns better for you soon.
On a more positive note: Nice thread you got going on here, loving the pictures and Colombia stuff :)

Did a small tour in Colombia a couple of years ago, Bogota, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Cali, Taganga & Tayrona. Gotta say Colombia is better than her reputation, would totally go again. Only trouble we had was in Cartagena when a couple of young cops saw my pal smoking weed and threatened him with deportation and shit, tried to shake him for money.. Heard a lot of stories like that from other travellers, too. Not the safest place in the world to be a cop, prolly double that if you're a dirty cop. Oh well, what can you do.

The street bought weed there was kind of a bummer too, not that it was bad, most def not expensive. But like in Santa Marta if you think you're gonna score some authentic Santa Marta sativa smoke, you prolly need to know some guys. The commercial stuff was mostly hybrid nuggets that had a rough fertilizer taste to em. Got you high pretty nicely tho, and a few thousand pesos bought you a nice handful. Every weed dealer sold cheap coke on the side, too. Or maybe every coke dealer sold cheap weed on the side.. Whatever the case, you didn't have to search with cats and dogs if you wanted to score some smokes or blanco :) Always felt safer talking to the street peddlers than the local cops there, that's something they need to work on as a nation. Also, during my last two days in Bogota, there was some civil unrest and rumours about a possible riots, so the government sent military to watch the streets. I guess it was to calm things down, but when I see young dudes patrolling the streets with Galil assault rifles, and I'm unarmed.. I don't really feel safe. But when in Rome..

Anyways, get healthy and stay safe out there, mang! :)

Thank you all so much for the fantastic reply's!
We had a meeting today with my business partner and a few investors. I was amazed at how much of a dick I can be but I had to cut the bullshit and get right on point. I don't need anybody, they need me, so I needed to know what benefit I got out of signing a contract. They replied that it was necessary to obtain the licensing. And how does that help the rider? They replied it will help me in the future. Not good enough, I told them and they started getting agitated. But they know that I know that I don't need them, I can make more money without they, why should I help them? Now they were really doing anything to defuse the situation but I was calm holding fast. They offered 3% of the company and I stood up and started walking to the door. Quickly my business partner ( I don't know if I mentioned this but she is super hot) grabbed my arm and said that % would be increased to 30. I sat back down with her still clinging to my arm and sipped my coffee. I said I wanted a percentage ($) of every plant I grew as well as the 30% ownership of the company, in writing. Then I changed the mood by joking and encouraging words about our success and they relaxed a bit. This meeting took place in a big office building in downtown Bogota, them in their fancy business suites and me in my hoody and flip flops (just to show extreme confidence and don't give a f---k attitude). I nicely told them that I would never compromise my principles and I had to have total control of quality. They bought it and I walked out having what I wanted and they are happy. Of course I had to go right home and burn some hash fruit to get the stench of the investors off me and now I'm right. Tomorrow I'm going to Pipa to see my kids and chill for a week then they want me to go to California for 12 days. I will be in Bakersfield the 21st if anybody wants to meet the rider. Of course I can't bring anything but I guess there's some decent smoke up there. I got all this work to do here and they want to go party. It's amazing what one must go through just to grow a few plants.

Thanks so much, I really hate acting like that but if you don't they will walk all over you. I'm sure it's pretty much like this everywhere but more extreme down here. They try to "buddy up" with me or give me some sad song and dance, but it's easy to see through. Anyway now I got what I want and everybody is more respectful but I'm sure we will have another flare up in the future. I'm ready for em.

I packed up some flowers and I'm heading out to spend some time with my kids and relax for a few days. No trip to the llanos as it's too much with the rains there now. I have to vape now since the doctor wants me to have no smoke of any kind but I brought some papers cause I like to burn now and then. I hope I can tolerate the ex since I'll be in her house, we try to be friends but I really can't stand her. Lots of opportunities for female companionship now (money attracts them like fly's) but I'm not looking at the moment (trying not to). I feel 100% better and after this time with the kids I only want to work. I got some new seeds I'm dying to germ from the university (un named Colombian) as well as a few CBD projects i need to finish up. We will be registered to export seed this year according to the lawyer dude.

Back from 9 days with my kids (and ex). Had a really good time and I'm back up to 110% health wise. The time with the kids was important and really help's our relationship. Even the ex was tolerable, borderline pleasant even at times.

It was nice to get out of Bogota for a few days but was good to get back to my plants. Two clones died in my absence but that's why I have more than one of each. I don't like anyone 'taking care of" my plants while I'm gone so I try to never be gone more than a week.

I think we are going to California soon, not sure exactly but they really want to go so I'm sure we will leave soon. I just want to see what the legal weed looks like in southern California and other products that sell well there.

The madness never ends, now they want me to grow hemp. I can almost deal with the CBD plants but I don't think hemp will grow well here much less where the new farm is in the Amazons. It's like a run away train with these people, we are still filling some additional requirements for the Zipacon license. I had a meeting with another rich guy (Colombian) and he really wants to produce fiber plants in the jungle. I was polite but not interested in this project for no amount of money. Might be cool to check out the natives but don't think I want to grow anything there. They are insisting that I go there and just check it out but I have a lot to do here and don't need the distraction. Not to mention going to LA and the llanos, it's mildly annoying. I've got over a thousand un named native Colombian seeds from the university that I'm waiting for the licence to plant at the finca, that's the only project I'm interested in.

What did I say long ago ?
Build it yourself . Sprout seeds - grow - harvest - re invest . Maybe 1 farm hand for the 1st year then re evaluate .

Why do you need these people who want to profit from your IP ?
Do it yourself ,100 % yours .

The 3 % to 30 % partnership share is a red flag bro . They don`t have a plan . If they can give up 27 % of it like that.

Thanks for sharin

I agree with you, I haven't signed anything yet and many things are pending. The situation is I can do it all from seed to sale with 20 plants but it's not legal. I have to be licensed to do what I really want to do and that is grow thousands of plants. I turn down really good offers because I don't want to grow 90 day strains to be exported. It's a complex situation (which is somewhat frustrating) and never the way it should be.
The green houses are finished at the Zipacon finca (so they tell me) and expecting the licencing any day now. At the same time my investor lady friend is starting more projects in different locations and I have to go meet more people. I met one of the Indians from the Amazon yesterday and now it looks like I've got to go to the jungle (where the cocaine grows) for a visit. In this place there is only Indian law and although I'm coming as an invited guest this is where you get kidnapped. Also they (the Indians) don't need a license to grow there. Just too much going on but I'm always ready to walk away and do my own thing. I'm going to go to the jungle and take a DMT trip with the Indians to find out which direction to go. I just need to get my thoughts together and move forward.
As always your advise is greatly appreciated.

Update

Update

Lot going on here, of course I can't talk about everything but I had an interesting week. First I met the leader of a tribe of Indians from Putumayo last week and not a big thing but they are now growing my Punto rojo and SMG seeds I gave them. Really interesting to me because they are only want to grow native strains, not the crippy. We are buying a finca there for future canna tourism, I'll be going to Putumayo in a few weeks to meet everyone and check on the plants.
Another exciting thing, yesterday I met two top neurologists from Medellin. A husband and wife team in their 60s and expert in their field. The man Andres wanted to try cannabis for the first time in his life (the wife was scared). He asked me the best way and I loaded up my new vaporizer with my best Mangobiche and showed him how to hit it. He only took a couple hits but wow how it changed him. He relaxed with a permanent grin and started telling jokes. Total transformation, from a stiff up tight over thinker to a chilled out funny guy. Even his wife was impressed with his change in personality and when I mentioned the "aphrodisiac" qualities of the cannabis they quickly exited my house saying they would be back. I felt good that someones first experience was positive and now a doctor knows the truth.
Anyway greenhouses are built and awaiting licence approval at my soon to be home in Zipacon but still waiting. In the mean time I'm just growing a few plants around the house here in Bogota.
