Fertilizers

Yo,
Ive found three fertilizer regimens I think would be good. I'm wondering what people here think is the best to use (I'm not so worried about ease as I am about what will give best results). I have been considering BioCanna, Advanced Nutrients, Bio Bizz, Earth Juice, and Foxfarm.

Thanks all.

Peace,

I used Fox Farm Grow Big , Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom last grow and really liked all 3 but the Tiger Bloom isnt organic so ive decided to switch to the Bio-Canna line. The Canna will cost a bit more but true organics.

As long as you start off with about half the reccomended application then any of these ferts will work well.

I usually start at between 20% and 25% strength because I believe adding a little with every watering is better, less fertilizer more frequently gives you better levels, better uptake and way less chance of a burn. So, if cost isn't much of an issue the the Canna is the way to go? Do I get any yield loss using the organic fertilizers vs. the "scientifically formulated" stuff at Advanced Nutrients?

Here's what I use:

Fox Farm Grow Big (Veg)

Alaska Fish Fertilizer (Veg)

Pure Blend Pro Bloom (Flower)

Liquid Karma (Throughout)

And that's it. I know I'm probably missing a lot, and could do better but this simple nutrient lineup has worked great for me in the past.

Just my two cents, good luck!

None of those ferts are high enough in P for my tastes, you must live in a fert challenged area.A good fert ratio for a bloom fert is approx 1-4-2.Thats not set in stone, but you do want both P and K to be higher than N and you want P to be higher than K.No BS lol

Ya like soilman said, you want the P and K to be higher, and the N lower for a flowering fertilizer...

This is my first real grow. I transplanted same tiume I went 12/12.

The soil had a good organic load in it. I did use, and continue to use, Fox Farm TigerBloom and FF BeastieBloom. Although as of today I cut back to just Beastie Bloom which is 0-50-30. And I mixed it 1/4 teaspoon/gallon this AM. Plants are in day 45 of flower....and really doing well so everyone tells me. Buds and colas are beginning to bulk up now.

I never used either of those at more than 1/2 the strength of that listed on container. Dunno about the others, but I wouldn't use FF products at more than 1/2 strength, especially if you have a good soil with organic nutes in it like I did.

Hi guys , i got another fert......2:3:2....higher in the (P)
I couldnt find it in liguid form so i got the granular one....
Here's the g/kg ratio

64 N
94 P
64 K
5 Zn
71 S
144 Ca
7 Mg

they suggest 60/m2 in soil when planting
and 60g around shrub and repeat 2-3 times in folwering season....

now....i,d like to dissolve the granules in water and water feed them...
any sussegtion how to use this fert to its optimum without burning the plants..???

oh another thing ive got 12 plants in a 50cm*45cm*90cm(h) box...
planted in compost and grass cuttings bags

and another thing i noticed is the plants started getting slightly lighter at the growth tips......after a 8 days of 12/12
is it lacking in nutes or is this natural....cause the other veging plants is keeping its green..

pls help......!!!!

Really all the brands you are considering are good choices and you can do fine with all of them. Fox Farms is probably significantly less expensive then the others. So I personally would go with that one. It's very widely used and has consistently gotten good reviews from growers during the 4 years I've been aware of that brand.

Any help o the 2:3:2 fert...?????

Really that 2:3:2 fert is not right, I usually go with a 1:3:2 ratio because in flower you don't want too much N, just enough to keep the leaves green as most of the new bud growth is working off the P and K. A 1:4:2 ratio was mentioned and would likely work, more P is generally felt will produce bigger buds since so much P is used in making bud. However you need to be careful. High P concentrations can cause premature leaf drop as it can interfere with the uptake of other nutrients. As much as the plant needs lots of P to make big fat juicy buds it also needs lots of light to be photosynthisized by the leaves. So if giving extra P causes you to lose too many leaves then you're just shooting yourself in the foot using it.

Someone observed that you appear to live in a fert challenged area. Unfortunately that means your best bet is to order a good fert online and have it shipped to you rather then trying to figure out how to combine what you got to make things good. All the products the thread starter mentioned are well proven brands that many members of ths community of growers uses. Any of those brands would be good. They are considered designed more for cannabis and as such tend to be priced a bit higher then normal ferts you get at the hardware store. If that is a problem or if you fear ordering such items might clue people you know in what you are doing there are other brands that are not considered canna specific but yet have the ratios you want, unfortunately these are mostly chemical ferts. For example there is a brand called Peter's, they have an All Purpose Plant Food that is 20-20-20 which is fine for veg but they also have a 30-10-10 product that's considered better. In Veg you want lots of nitrogen as this produces lots of healthy leaves, the more leaves in veg the more light it can absorb and make use of which yields bigger plants and bigger plants usually yields bigger buds. If you ordered a product like that most should not suspect anything unless for you to show any interest in growing any plants is unusual for you to others. Now when you go to flower you do need a different fert that's where the 1:3:2 comes in. Peters also makes a 10-30-20 product which is perfect for that. The problem with Peter's though is it is a chemical fert so if you're an organic purist you'll not be happy with it.

If you are challenged and getting those kind of ferts is difficult and/or you don't have much money to work with then another way to go would be the hardcore organic route of making your own organically enriched soil using things like worm castings, fish emulsion, bone meal, blood meal, kelp, seaweed, bat guano, etc. If done right this yields a soil where pretty much everything a plant needs is in the soil already and all you do is water.

I cant believe some of the stuff I see and read over here reminds me why I never leave Advanced Nutes site.OK Sky Fox Farm is total garbage thats why its cheap.PLEASE DO NOT use this stuff on a product that is intended 4 smoking.Advanced nutes are the only ones the market currently made for and doing tests on and are willing to to tell people Marijuana! So why would you use somthing intended 4 growing flowers and vegetables on yer pot no thanks.People talk smack over here about AN its expensive this PH flucs that its all USER ERROR .Pros using this stuff get UNBELIVIBLE results.I suggest you go to youtube and watch the Nute Challenge and some Urban Grower videos with a little luck youll see the light. And Mobius even a bottle of Fox Farms would be better than ANY of that crap yer using. Its ALL chems and NOT intended for what yer doing.two words bro Mail Order if there is no hydro shops in yer area look around on the internet . Google Hydoponic Retailers and youll find a zillion some with free shipping which is a plus nowadays. And get yerself at the very least some guano wormcastings and some sort of liquid to use as a GROW formula albeit some Liquid fish fertilizer and heck you should be able to get that stuff local.Cmon people help this kid somone send him a leftover jugg they gott somthin.Geeesshh!
