mini dwc reverse scrog

This is my first thread, but I thought that I'd throw up some pics of my current grow just to get started. Obviously from the pictures this is based on the Red Greenery grow tub. For this grow I'm going with hydro, I have done a few soil grows in the past, but I wanted to try something new. Lets get started with what I've got. I was gifted some seeds awhile back, was told they were ww, not sure but I like the high so what the heck. A few grows ago I had a male that snuck in and polinated everything, so more seeds for me. These three were originally started in peat pellets, when they were a week old I flushed the peat and placed in the tub, sorry no pics. They are roughly 5 weeks old from sprouting, didn't keep track, have each been topped once, and are now less than a week into 12/12. so another week or so to start to see who's male and who's female. hopefully the latter of the two scenarios. The grow style if a combination of two different threads that i found here on icmag, the first was strain searcher's 1 gallon dwc 3 plant grow under cfl'sshown here, http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=41017, the next is twowordz's reverse scrog grow shown here,http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=57887, so far so good having fun that's all that matters. I'm feeding AN 3 part grow, bloom, micro following the chart on the an site. Later on tonight after the lights come back on, I'll be doing some more training and tucking of the fan leaves under the net to expose more grow tips. Any advise or questions feel free to provide or ask, I'm still what I would call a noob, so I don't feel I know what I'm doing yet, so feel free to chime in and provide any suggestions that you may feel necessary

Last night I did some more tying to the net and tucking fan leaves out of the way to make room for more sites, still a few straglers shooting off into space but couldn't find any place for them. In the next few days should be able to find a good spot to tie them to. Incase anyone's wondering in the background that's a 175w mh. I tried that light for a little bit, but it ran to hot. I like the cfl's much better. Not much to show, just snapped a few just after lights out. Can't wait to see where my ladies are in there to know for sure what I'm working with. I cut a few clones of each prior to putting into flower, so that way I'll atleast have some cuttings of the ones turn out to be female. Here's the pics.

Hey Steve,

GREAT grow. Nice to see people who like to experiment new things.

Have you switched to 12/12 yet? If not, now might be a good time to do it. For my grow I started the clones strait on 12/12 and they finished a little bit larger then the size of the screen. I thought next grow I would fill the screen 30% before going to flowering.

So you are growing ww william wonder or white widow?

keep it up ;)

When you guys do the rev-scrog, how easy is to to get into the reservoir, if need be? Are you attaching the screen to the lid of the res?

Thanks for the replies everyone.I'll throw some more pics up once something starts happening with the grow.

twowordz- I switched to 12/12 a week ago, and it's white widow

rabo karabekian- the design has the screen attached directly to the lid of the resevoir, so getting into the res is simple.

Rabo:

I use two reservoirs, I do a new mix once a week and just move the lid from a reservoir to the other. Then I wash the old one.

Steveblazer:

If I still do it DWC next grow, I will use hydroguard. I don't really trust the DWC system. Last week, just before harvest, the roots were starting to get slimmy and the water was filthy. You might want to try that with your grow.

twowordz- thanks for the suggestion on the hydroguard. I'll keep an eye on my roots, I don't have a thermometer to take a temp reading of my resevoir, but it's cold. I have the grow in my basement which stays a bit cooler than upstairs anyhow. I'm just running a comp fan for ventilation and the box stays nice and cool for now. I'll keep an eye on my roots for sure and if anythings starts to look out of the norm, then I will pick some up (hydroguard).

I had taken two clones off of each plant, so far one clone from each plant has shown some roots. Here's some pics. Still no sign of sex from the plants, hopefully soon. will put up some more pictures later on tonight

hempknowsis: You can do any training on your plants (LST, ScrOG or Rev ScrOG) at any point that you need to. It seems to be a general rule to leave them alone after they finish the stretch period 2-3 weeks into flower.

The important thing to remember is not to do too much too quickly as you can stress your plant. I am trying to follow a general rule of thumb to let the plant grow how it wants and then just move/tie down what is needed to fit my space.

As with most things, how and when to train your plants is a questions that you could ask 10 people and get 11 answers.

hempknowsis: i did it on the second week but you can pretty much do what you want. If all the other variables are fine a plant can take a beating once in a while.

hempknowsis: Any training that I do, I usually start in veg after I've gotten to about three nodes. I've only ever done lst in soil before. As soon as i felt it was big enough i just bent it over (no nasty comments please) and tied it down.
I agree with twowordz that plants can take abit of abuse. As stated many times on this site "It's a weed, don't forget it"

Just thought that I'd throw up some updated pics. No sign of sex as of yet. They've been on 12/12 for 2 weeks as of yesterday, so I guess that's good for no signs of sex cause males normally show themselves first. So no news is good news for the time being. I have no light leaks so just assuming taking a bit longer to show the goodness.

twowordz- using advanced nutrients, micro, grow, bloom. came with little packages of big bud, carbo-load, and bud blood. not ever using bud blood again. used it last grow and it just turnd everything bright red, the roots, entire res, airline. it didn't find it actually did anything at all. this feeding i'll be starting the big bud and carboload.
