Dry Ice?

hello fellow ic'ers!

a verry nice person at a med club was telling me that i should try putting a piece of dry ice in a small plate inside my growroom besides my plants. she said it made a great difference in health/vigor and yield! said dry ice gives off lots of co2 for the plants!

i'm thinking of trieng this! :chin:

anybody tried it yet? if so, what did you find/gain?

From what i've read concerning dry ice ... The price to life ratio of the ice sucks compared to a c02 tank ...

Then again its only what i've "read" so maybe my info is wrong.

yes dry ice gives off hella cO2 but to properly give your plants this it would need to be placed directly over the light when lights go off. all fans should be turned off also because the O2 produced from dry ice will form a small cloud and rain down ever so gently on the plants tops. it is very expensive compared to O2 tank which can be pumped in via a hose, another good source of cO2 is to open up your grow erea 10-15 min 1-2 times each day exchange all the air at once.also if your ventilation is adiquite then your O2 is replaced often enough

but ifn ya have the duckets lol money then do a O2 tank and give it to them that way

nah, i have a passive intake and my fan is on 24/7 coninually exchanging my air so i guess the dry ice is not an option i guess and its expencive i guess also.

would it still work if my fan is exchanging my air all the time? i use a c13 w a passive intake. if i put the dry ice in the fan will suck out the co2 the ice is releacing wouldn't it?

yea, i've never bought dry ice or neither know where to find some

? my plants are growing good anyways! they live right next to me. my cab that is. hehe, lots of co2 from me! thanks everybody! :joint:

everything ive read has stated that plants do not CO2 when the lights are off..... but yes the block would be needed to be placed above the plants so the co2 which is heavier than air could then sink onto the plants. not sure how effective it would be, especially with a exhaust fan running....

they also sell it at UPS shipping stores. unsure of prices though. im with Delta 9 and Mexican Mafia, breathe on them! i sit and smoke a blunt with my girls every chance i get!

they have dry ice at most major supermarkets...

...ask one of the guys behind the counter at the meat or seafood section

it's something like 1.99 a pound here, but i always...just walk out with it after they give it to me...

i paid for it once, and it took forever, i had to take it to the service counter, and it took like 5 min. to ring up, mostly cuz the 17yr old kid didn't know how to do it, but still...

i always figured if anyone stops me and says "what the hell, you gatta pay for that" i'de just be like, "oh, sorry, i thought it was free, you gatta pay for it?!"

...i've never used it in a grow room, i use it to add to a punch bowl when we have parties, doesn't water down the drink, keeps it super cold, and looks cool

hehe! kingspade! can i put a "dry" ice cube into my glass of coke? that would be pretty cool! i'll check wassup @ albertson's to see whats up with the dry ice! its been pretty hot these days here! high 80's and hit 90 today inside my cab! i might gets some to lower the temps a bit

Dry Ice will NOT work since it evaporates WAY too fast. Also, to run CO2 the room must be sealed.

Figure out a way to get a small block to evaporate evenly over a 12 hour period and maybe it can work.

If my co2 monitor is working correctly, just me being in the grow area for 20-30 minutes working and breathing will hold the ppm levels above 600 so keep breathing and you'll be fine. :wave:

Great idea 2Buds,

We can rig a gas mask with a tube running into the grow room from our bedroom. We'll wear the mask at night while we sleep.

Or, we can keep hamsters in the grow room. Give them a motorized thread mill so that they get breathing heavy.
