P-Bud...Please share what you know about this strain!

A friend recently gifted me some P-Bud seeds. He grew it in the mid to late nineties. The only info he could give me was that it's maybe a skunk#1 crossed with something else. He wasn't too sure about that though. There's not a lot of info that I could find other than it was a colorado strain that does well outside.

Hopefully someone here has some info, any info would be nice...Thanks..SW

called pbud.

https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=pbud strain

^^ lots and lots of info.

pbud is also the avatar name of the ic mag member here that sourced the original bagseed that chemdawg originated from. you can pm pbud here after you get 50 posts (private messaging privileges).

Pbud (another local line) has said it was bud from some bikers outta crested butte. ive smoked Pbud (Paonia Purple Paralyzer) have never heard of CO Dog or chemdawg local. ive asked quite a few of the old local growers around here (used to be a hotspot around here for outdoor growin) about Pbud or chem seed, and noone has any, or heard of CO Dog or Chem.

lots of the local growers are growin a line called redlands here. sorry line imo. good ole days are a memory around here. Feds had a big wing ding around here 12 or so years ago, and many a grower lost there land and homes. and i believe that was the demise of the Pbud. i was suprised to hear chemdawg actually had seed of the Pbud, as the story here is the grower of the Pbud, either was busted, or skinned out when it went bad here. and he was very protective of his line.

Idiit, thanks for the response. A guy by the name of P-Bud was on the Adam Dunn Podcast a while back talking about the history of chemdawg. He did briefly talk about the strain P-Bud, he said it was an incredible outdoor strain that he believed to no longer exist.

The guy that gave me the seeds says he's got a friend that still has cuttings of it here in colorado.

The 50 post thing drives me nuts, as I don't really do the whole posting thing much. I joined in 2012 and only have 20-ish posts...thanks a bunch..SW

lmao :)

interesting that none of those growers heard of chem or dawg or pbud. i always thought chem/dawg came from a pbud bagseed but it seems that may not be the case. whatever it comes from im glad its around!

Hey relic, thanks for the reply. Seems like a lot of people think that chemdawg came from p-bud but according to the dude P-bud it came from a bag of dog-bud. Anyways if you want to hear the story, Adam Dunn had this P-bud on his show. It's pretty damn interesting and worth listening to...SW

the story is pretty interesting.

there is a possibility that dog bud (named dog bud because the toker would roll around on his back like a dog due to the high effects, not poor bag appeal) was renamed colorado green bud:

^^ link

there is another strain thought to be possibly be dog bud renamed on hawaii as "the dog"..

ic mag has pbud as a member. he thinks that if someone could source the "renamed dog bud" buds for him plus pictures of the plant he could authenticate. remember it is established and accepted as valid that pbud was the source of the bagseed chem was originally sourced from.

ozg at southern star seeds has cgb. i swap with ozg and am trying to get the cgb and send pbud some pics and bud to sample. this is the only way to authenticate or disprove the speculation about cgb.

another ic member is tryng to get pbud some "the dog" bud samples and pics to see if "the dog" is renamed "dog bud".

there are plenty of links and info to follow in the link i supplied above and reposted here:

It would be interesting to get the low down on the P Bud.
I was just gifted some seed myself. The dude that gave them to me said they were not more than 2 years old. He said that the guy that gave them to him had been growing it from seed for the last 20+ years.

I've got to look at zee links above still as well.

Thanks to all that have contributed to the thread.

I am rarely on this site anymore. First off Joebrand sent the dogbud to Chemdog back in 91. I was at Deer Creek with Joebrand when we met and sold him an 1/8 of dogbud. When we got back to crested butte Joe sent him 2 oz. Chemdog found 13 seeds in one of the ounces. I have learned from a very reliable source of the possible origins of the dog. Only took 23 years. Lol! As far as the Pbud goes. We went through a lot of Pbud in the 80's. P stands for Paonia, one of the towns it was grown in. Famous area for fruit. Perfect elevation. Hot days cool nights. This is the story I heard back in the 80's. Growers from nor cal were run out of California in the 70's and brought their genetics with them to the western slope. I haven't seen pbud since early 90's. The most unique piney skunk smell. Different grades back then. I like the grade A! Lol. I was just gifted some pbud seeds from someone on the western slope. A lot of pbud batches were full of seeds so I'm sure there are lots still out there. I'm gonna grow some outside next year. Hope that helps a little? But the dog was the best cannabis I've ever smoked to this day.

^^ it's been said allready what the dog bud was .. the truth is out there . read a little instead of misdirecting a fine pbud thread lol

paonia purple paralizer ..

closest looking plant to deep chunk i've seen... and definitely not related to any dog ... that about says it all

didn't get that piney smell pbud describes at all though .. it was straight up coffee ...

got her crossed to the pre98bubba , kept her in veg for a while and am about to taste her for the first time soon enough ..

Oh hell yeah!!! Finally! I knew someone out there was growing P-Bud. Sounds like maybe you already finished a round with her?
If so, how is it? I keep reading that it's a great outdoor strain but nothing about it being grown indoors. How was she to grow??

im glad ya happy with my two cents.. she's a classic indica.. i would say its a paki or afghani ..

finishes fast , stays short , extra wide leafs & tight nugz with nice violet/purple colors and plenty o hermies and males in the seedline as well as many different smells and grades of frostiness ... much like a landrace  so if ya have seeds theres no way o telling what ya have until you grow them .. :ying:

i had the chance to grew it outdoors in colorado last year and am currently testing the outcross :smoke:

Thank ya much for the extra tid bits stix~.

What percentage of plants, would you say, exhibit this hermie trait?

Also, did you observe nanners or balls or both in your grow?

& THANKS AGAIN to Pbud for the info you've so kindly provided to the community. Info is priceless.
