if people use 3 600's why wouldnt 3 1k's work? i would assume you can cut down the plant count and still get the same yield if not more?

..... Or to reduce the need for super ventalation and energy costs, why not use 2 1000 watters? Each 1000 watter will cover a 4 x 4 foot space easily.

I agree that 2 1k lights would work best for that space. I have grown with 1ks in both 4x4 and 4x5 closets, and I have to say that this is almost the perfect amount of light per square foot IMHO.

I have had some bleached tips due to too much light - so I think that 3k in that space would be overkill.

However, what I might recommend is using 2 1k lights with hoods and then add 50-100 watt CFLs as side and bottom light.

My 2 cents...

do three its less than 100 watts a square foot more light = more bud its easy with proper ventalation you cant have to much light, just to much heat proper ventalation and ac your good.

I would stick with 2 - 1000's. I think 3 would be over-kill and not produce much more bud for the power consumption usage. You probably would make more yield with the extra 1000 only if temp's were controlled and proper ventilation utilized, but the difference would not be worth the extra work or hydro. Just my 2 cents.

i mean does anyone here have tried that 3000w on 4x8?? hmm thats weird cuz a guy told me the more litz the plant get, the more weight it will be

I have a buddy that runs this setup regularly. I have seen him pull 7 pounds.
He doesn't even air cool his hoods or air condition.

There are a lot of 100 Watts per square foot people out there, just not as many as the 50 watt per square foot people.

The 100 watts per square foot guys don't loose any efficiency in grams per watt, so why not?

I think strain and growing style make a difference. My above reference was a leggy 10 week sativa (ISS) 20-25 plants.

During the winter maybe...Its not even that hot here yet, and Im having temp problems running 2k in a 4x8. A lot of it is due to my ventilation problem but I couldnt even imagine running 3k right now.

I use 3 1k watt light on 2 4 *8 tables next to each other and it seems to be just perfect lighting, I think on one tray its just more then is needed but I still have yet to try it so I couldnt say for sure

I like the overlap idea. I use 2-600s in a 4'x 4' and even 2- 600's and a 400 in a 4' x 6'. There is a point of diminishing, where as more watts won't be more herb. Yet, I do like to have around 75-100 watts of light per square foot myself.

3 1k over 4x8 is overkill if the lights are kept too low.. but IMHO if you keep the lights higher than normal you would see more benefit.. especially if you are dialed in... also depends on how big your plants get..

do you plan on running C02?

well lets see how much can pull this time cuz last time was 2000 on a 4x8 then my boy told me its better weight with 3000w on 4x8 so let see wassup...i will keep ya posted
