BLACK MAGIC

Tried it once

The Black African I had 40+ years ago was unrecognizable as we know weed today. I found it too strong to be enjoyable for routine use. Perhaps as a blend it might be ok, I would not use it otherwise.

Here is a black rose strain, not sure if this is what you are looking for. I don't think this is on the open market though.

Ive heard of African Black before, there was an article about it in an old high times.

I had some black Jamaican herb in the mid 90s that was similar to what you described. The bag that is was in looked like it had crisco rubbed on it from all the resin, so cloudy you could barely see through it. The buds had been bricked, covered in black resin, and were starkly contrasted with tufts of really pronounced dark red hairs, just really exaggerated bunches of long red hairs I remember. I dont know if the strain was naturally like that or laced with hash, but I remember my friend and I practically tripping after a couple tubes, mild visuals and all. I dont think it was laced or the guy(older deadhead, first turned me on to the 'kind' back then, when I just stared smoking) that shared it with us would have said something. I remember him saying it was "Jamaican red hair", lol. Whatever it was I never saw anything like it again.

A heartfelt topic SOZE, this is a sharing of a perspective or two. No spite or hate to be spewed only love and loving kindness that shine bright as the sun. May these words find you well friend.

Traditionally a lurker, so forgive the quick departure. Also, speaking to hype, it begets the mindset. Hype is only allowed if one allows it, or allows themselves to buy into it. Perhaps this is the reason for lurking more than posting here. On to sharing with a positive and open heart.

Black Magic as detailed in DJ short's book is the closest comparison to a smoke found one day back in the 70's. SOZE your description also meshes with the experience.

Somewhere around 40 years ago picked up a hitcher as a good deed for the day, and along the way toked the guy out on some joints. Upon arrival at his destination, he insists on returning the favor and politely decline. The favor returned was simply doing the good deed, however he insists. "Wait right here, I'll be right back down." he says, as he quickly enters his place. It is rude to decline a gift, so for a moment the car is idle and waiting near the curb.

Back in a flash, the mysterious hitcher returns with a small bag of what appears to be black shake. Very similar to the descriptions of both DJ and SOZE. It had not the appearance of the green type, and looked very different. Taking it with a smile, and with a smile in return parted ways.

Later that evening a small pin joint transformed a small get together into a gut bursting, laugh fest. The giggles to the point of water eyes, and an overall great feeling of happiness and joy. It was a special day, and one remembered where so many have been forgotten.

That was the only association with the black magic, until reading a passage in DJ's book.

It appears to come from Africa, and your reference to the Dogon shows you are on the right track. I would not take any source as legitimate unless it comes directly from the soil and under the sun on the continent of Africa.

Soze, you are familiar with the sweet spots? This seems likely, and again on the right track.

Having searched high and low, the only route that seems legitimate is to travel. There are a few opinions on the country of origin, however it could be suggested to disregard the traditional man made borders and focus on a specific latitude and altitude. SOZE, you mention about a curing process and question the origin. In Africa many opinions seem to originate near or around the equator, from here the opinions vary between lowland jungle and highland varieties.

For all that is known cannabis in Africa may be nothing more than one species that has traveled and found itself in a multitude of environments. It could do nothing more than try and adapt to these different environments and the possibility for showing and expressing different traits such as the black magic you speak of.

Places of interest are but not limited to:Congo, Gabon, Tanzania, Kenya, and Ethiopia. Many times the origin gets lost in translation as much product travels across Africa, so the exact origin at times get's distorted. Meaning, some may pick up a bag of the black magic in one country, but the country of origin the plant was grown in being a bordering country.

As for the curing process, this is something that many believe to highlight the character of this special variety. Traditional cob is most likely from the research that can be found.

A topic that is very fond to discuss, however the words are running long and without travels and personal experience it will be a discussion of varying opinions.

May your search be fruitful, and seed bearing!

A few in house links, although traveling and networking would aid in this very much so. Similar to how hype begets the mindset, like minds with loving kindness begets the same loving kindness. Get in touch with some friendly people and live with a loving heart, you will not even need seek what you desire; but those around you will desire to help you. Funny words, but true friend.

Its incredibly strong. Ive been in search for some time & just cant get it anywhere, youd have to go to Africa & seek it out.

Everything you two noobs to this site say about the strain in question might be true. I have no problem buying into that. However, there is also a product on the market using the same name that is about to be made illegal by the feds. (Its in the paper today.)

I find it interesting that this topic was started at this time by a guy with no posts and backed up by another guest with no posts.

The fact remains that this thread will help sell more bogus weed substitute before its outlawed than assist with uncovering any mystery weed coming out of Africa, imo.

I've got a friend who still talks in mystical terms about the herb he got from some african immigrants in the port town he lived in, dark brown to black, compressed, not particularly good smell. He said it fucked him up something serious, after smoking a J he and some friends got lost in the fog, in a small forest, said he's never been more paranoid or confused..

Black Magic just sounds like a name someone made up, he knew it by the place it came from, congolese if I remember correctly. It's not the first time I've heard about dark very strong african weed before.

Well, I know a ton of folks from South Sudan and Congo. They are adult students of mine and I don't broach the topic of mj too often with them. However, a couple of guys from Sudan told me a few years back that there was weed in their country that was unlike anything here in the U$. I never got the specifics from them, but maybe its the same thing mentioned by the OP.

This strain is real, too many people including myself have described
this strain to a t, the black color the white smoke and it only comes from Africa.
Ok this is what I believe it was given to us by higher beings
hence the Dogon tribe for example they said that the two dog plant came from the two dog star. The two dog basically means a man and female or yin and yan
or right and wrong, It means all of these. Now a dog can be male or female good or bad.
It was given to us for agriculture use for all it's uses from rope to oil to medicine the list goes on. The name is what it is Black Magic or juju etc there's different languages in Africa so of course there would be different names for it but they all have some thing to do with magic. This strain is the original decentdent of the two dog plant. The dogon tribe have been pretty accurate so far so I don't think what I'm wrong here. This strain is a gift from
our watchers some abuse pot some make profit of it when it was truly the tree of life
and a holy sacrament. For those who have been to church you ever wonder
what kind of incense they burn you know what I'm talking ever wonder why purple haze and kush smell like church on Sundays. It may not be the same thing but I remember going to church as a kid and the smells from the incense,
when I got older and started to come across some haze kush etc I noticed that I know these smells just can't put my finger on where I know these smells from. Then
It hit me church that's where I remember these smells from.
It sounds crazy but I knw I'm right you don forget a smell like haze kush and any
very not normal hemp smell like skunk etc. Softy abut that just had to be said but back
to the black magic. This strainis the strongest that I have ever encountered. The word magic is exactually what it is, when you smoke it you feel the magic like your body feels light as a feather your eyes get like budda i mean like the little budda statue notice how the
Budda statue is smiling with his eyes looking like there closed but they are not he is high but he was using it for mediation. Ok when you smoke pot doesn't make you think more you catch your self closing you eyes and then your mind starts to wonder or imagine hint hint. If you know how to use the plant in the right way you can access certain parts of your
conscious and subconscious. Hope u guys understand.

"try to avoid shit on a stick when offered to you."

Words to live by! lol

I was sold some bud in the early 90's that was black and greasy, thought it was fake until I smoked some and woke up with
drool all over my shirt.

One hit of salvia from some dipshit head shop and you won't even know what planet you are on. I imagine this black magic is the same sort of poisonous bullshit.
Find some good weed to smoke, kid. And try to avoid shit on a stick when offered to you.

This is one of DJ shorts smoke report on Black Magic African.

This herb is the strongest ever. Although I have only smoked the Black Magic a very limited number of times, and I've never had more than a joint of my own, I feel it needs mention. I did once get to see a bag of this herb that belonged to someone else. It looked like rotted, black leaf, some leaves intact but crumpled, plus a powdery black shake. It had no particular odor other than sweet spicy moldy hay, and rolled best into thin pinjoints.

The smoke was slightly harsh, but with a very deep, rich flavor. I also recall that it produced lots of white smoke. Anyhow, this stuff was dangerous! I often questioned if it was truly pure herb. I have, however, sampled the same product from different sources at different times, all with the same story.

It was equatorial Black African, the supposed herb of some tribe, Pygmy group, or another equally incredible origin! It was likely an indigenous Central African herb. One pinjoint between three or four people was more than adequate. This was truly the most devastating and consciously inebriating herb I have ever smoked.

I do not recall ever passing out or losing consciousness, but I did have to let go in order to come back . This stuff alone could cause one to reach 3.5 pluses on the Shulgin psychedelic rating scale!

I never was able to acquire seeds from the Black African, though I have tried. It is one of the few indigenous strains that I am interested in working with.
