Looks like I may have introduced fungus gnats into my Smartpots from the seed starting mix. Hit everything with Gnatrol (BTI), high P guano, worm castings and high grade compost with beneficials and mycorrhiza. The plants are yellowing a little too early and showing nute deficiencies from the gnats. I'll hit them with more BTI today and then more next week and that should knock them out.

The Ice Cream clone that I transplanted in 3-4 weeks ago has exploded with new growth after being topped and is stretching nicely too. Nice, healthy plant and I think she'll yield well.

I already transplanted the Afghani seedling into a two gallon Smartpot. She was stretching too much under the CFL, so I figured she might as well get used to HPS and let her legs spread out comfortably.

The high humidity has incapacitated my scrubber, so it's doing a half assed job; fortunately I am also venting outside from the room so the odor doesn't leave the room.

The first two Ice Creams look like they'll be done in two to three weeks, then the Skunk, then the Satori. The Satori has just blown me away with its vigor and hardiness. I'm very glad I have a clone vegging in the wings. Hopefully it's good smoke when I harvest (I'm sure it will be)!

Afghani seedling continues to stretch...looks like it's too far from the HPS. More BTI today. Temperature has dropped again, but it still stinks. Today I noticed the ducting from the fan to the outside of the tent is deteriorating and full of pinpricks! I'm going to have to replace it. I have a spare scrubber, so maybe I'll switch over, change the ducting for new stuffand let the other one dry out, then tape everything down with duct tape so there are no leaks.

Ya, the stuff I got is more like Gorilla Tape than duct tape...I just thought it was marketing. Didn't realize it was actually stronger adhesive!

The tape worked a treat. It looks like I had a leak in the ducting from the scrubber to the fan, and stinky air was getting sucked in and blown out without filtration. I wrapped the ducting and base of the fan and it smells great in here now--that fresh Mountain Air experience all over. :) Now all I can smell is the Ice Cream ashes in my ashtray!

The smallest Ice Cream looks like it has another week or so to go; the larger bush needs maybe two or three and the Satori needs a month or more (!). The Afghani seedling is really stretching; I guess it's too far from the HPS, or starting it on 12/12 is making it stretchy. Let's see if it slows its stretch once it's on its second leaf set.

Decided to go ahead and harvest the little Ice Cream; around 60% red hairs. She should yield around 7 g dry I think. The trichs were about 50% clear. I'm curious to see how this IC pheno differs when harvested earlier. I may have gained a few grams of yield by waiting, but no biggie. Perhaps I should have let it go for another week since the seeds aren't developed yet--I picked off a seed pod and it had a green seed in it that popped when squeezed. I went ahead and ate it and it tasted like delicious sweet canteloupe! Hopefully the larger multi-top Ice Cream has a few beans from the Skunk pollen, but then again I don't really need them and probably won't get around to trying to germ them for a few years, so no major loss if there aren't any.

I'll let the other plants' trichs go almost entirely cloudy before harvest.

I stuck a very healthy, fully rooted and happily vegging Ice Cream clone in the little Ice Cream's place and took another cutting from it to replace it. I expect that clone to EXPLODE; it's been growing very rapidly.

Smoked some great scissor hash after trimming...I love fresh scissor hash. :)

Gelado,
When growing a new [to me] strain, I'll usually harvest some buds earlier to see which week I prefer. Have you harvested the Satori? -granger

Granger, I've run the IC (same pheno) before, but harvested later. I decided this little plant would be a good test. It was the furthest along too. Looks and smells good, but my plants aren't getting enough light because of the ginormous Satori! I shoulda tied her down when I had the chance!

I haven't tried the Satori yet; looks like it has a long while to go! Not many brown pistils at all (maybe only a handful). The big, long central bud is very impressive indeed. She's thicker than a soda can in the middle and at least 18" of her is one solid bud. She absolutely dominates the tent!

I have grown satori and that is exactly what it does. One very large cola, some branching, even when topped. I let mine go far too long and the glands got brown. Still very pleasurable. Doing some now in my aeroflo. What an incredibly consistent plant.

She is a beaut--going to have to LST her on the next run though. Can't have her stopping my indicas from getting the light they need! ;)

Yes I do know about that cola thing.....it is quite impressive. Mandela has unbelievable seeds at unbelievable prices. I love their hashberry-some have a lot of blueberry in them.

I have Beyond the Brain and their Safari Mix waiting in the wings, but may need to pick up more of their strains!

Ice Cream is chunking (and funking) up nicely. Gave the flowering girls a 1/4 strength feed to keep them chugging along. It looks like it will be Ice Cream, Skunk, and then Satori (which still has almost entirely white pistils).

The earlier harvested Ice Cream is definitely a more up, clearer high, but I'm sure I sacrificed some yield. I won't take anything else before its time. :)

Just sowed a Durga Mata into moist coco; I want her ready to replace the big Ice Cream after she's harvested and trimmed. :)

Yeah that BOB, I am very interested in too, bought two packs. I have done the safari mix-cheap seed, nice varieties. Yes a new fridge may be in order-growing our favorite plant is by far the greatest hobby of all!

New fridge and I'm picking up a powerful LED light for the summer--I'll save so much by not running air conditioning/HPS that the light will pay for itself!

Gelado! Hows it going?

Havent stopped by in awhile - actually haven't done much ICing at all lately. Sounds like things are going smoothly, all in all. Hope the bigger pots pay out for you.

Hey WG! The Satori in the five gallon is sharing with an Ice Cream, but the Satori is absolutely dominating the pot. It's still putting out fresh pistils; according to Mandala it will still have white pistils at harvest like a pure sativa would. The Ice Cream and Skunk should come down on 4/15 at the latest I think since I'm going out of town for a while.

The Satori looks like it will need another week or two beyond that; I'll be watching trichs closely of course. No amber trichs visible on any of the plants yet.

I have an unsexed Afghani vegging right now and I just sowed a fem Durga Mata. I also have a Satori clone that is really rearing to go! Looks like I will have a nice harvest in a few weeks.

I just hit everything with worm compost, regular compost, trace sea minerals, molasses, high P guano and calcium carbonate. Since my mix is 1/2 coco I really should be feeding supplemental Ca and Mg more often, which may explain why I always have symptoms of Mg deficiency in late flower. Something to remember for the next run! Can't wait for the LED light to come in so I can grow through the summer without having to use air conditioning all day.
