ah.....

anyone remember "The Equalizer" from about 2002-2003? sounds like the same exact thing....

cant find anything on Google....

it was a black box with some lightning bolts on it.....'

it was bullshit back then, lost a chunk of cash on several of them.....

never heard of the equalizer....

here, i get to post up on a new page:dance013:

so i just got back from the store, took a few pics of the machine in question. as well as the instruction manuel(not much of one, lol)

what sucks is i got the same old dude as last time so i didnt get much of a better description other than: they sell these at costco as well, but theyre much smaller, were the first hydro store in the whole province to have this." he then goes on the explain to my friend how it works...."see this unit is a 4kw, you have to use the full 4kw to be able to save 50%, if you plug in only one 1kw light you wont be anywhere near 50% savings."

so basicly what it sounds like TO ME is one of these http://www.greensaverus.com/howitworks.html and http://vegas-electric.com/powermax.html but i would like other input as to how this works from you guys which im sure know more than the guy at the store

and again on the net i cant find any ionfo about this company or their products.

heres the pics, might not be in order for the instruction manuel, im doing my best(suck with cameras)

Interesting pictures, Joe. It still really doesn't shed much light on what the hell it is though, does it :) . I'm inclined to agree with both you and Foomar that it is some kind of a "line conditioner" similar to the links that you posted to the bogus crap from Vegas.

Power factor correction is necessary in industrial plants because the high percentage of inductive loads (motors) causes the sine wave voltage & current components to shift away from each other. Under ideal conditions, the two should overlay one another, but with excessive inductive or capacitive loads, they shift apart and the difference between them becomes waste heat. This is not picked up with standard residential metering - it takes special metering that the utilities use in industrial applications because this wasted capacity isn't taken into account by conventional metering, but reduces the capacity of the utility. The utilities levy charges against the industrial consumers to compensate for this reduction in their capacity, so p.f. correction is a big deal for these consumers.

It should be mentioned that p.f. capacitors on the power lines can raise hell with sensitive electronics, particularly if the capacitors are being switched in and out as loads fluctuate.

In a residential application, this is analogous to taping cow magnets on your fuel line to increase your fuel mileage.

Long before the interweb thingy , was flogging exactly this device through adverts in the Exchange and Mart and local papers at vast profit.

Cilindrical magnet pushed over the fuel line by the carb , with a couple of wires to connect that are fake to imply an electromagnet , improved model replaced the magnet with a bit of turned steel dipped in plastic , absolute scam with no chance of working.

However , had a dozen genuine testimonials claiming that it did , which was enougth to keep tradeing standards off my back , and refunded the 5% returns in full without question.

I see it states twice that it's important to only run it for 8hrs before resting an hour. Charging??

Thanks for the pics... :D

Noticed the 8 hour runtime and an hour to recover , not enougth time to effectively charge any mainstream battery , guess the dodgy chinese components will overheat if used longer.

Some induction lights carry a similar instruction as the power supply is barely adequate in quality.

Its not going to take a 2000w input and turn it into a 4000w output sustained. Never going to happen. I am surprised this thread is still active.

phoned the number; "nothing like an old fool - eh?" got a nice young lady that answered in french and when told her im canadian and would like information on the piece of equipment in broken french, i was told that there were no english speaking personal in the office; in broken english and that quebec only recognizes french.

i was given another number to leave a message in english on and that some1 would get back to me next week.

so i told them; are the units cheaper by the dozen? and the wholesale price plus shipping on 1 - 12.

only pay 3.5 cents a minute on my computer phone. they do not have a website yet but are working on it.

Those people crack me up. I've noticed in the past when trying to get tech support for control systems that their English skills get much better if you tell them that you are a customer from the U.S.. Must not be so much ego involved if they aren't dealing with fellow Canadians.

im guessing its the same product but marketed differently?

Pro energie has german hits for a company promoteing wind and solar there.
Business is good , giveing up nuclear power means buying it in or pushing renewables regardless of actual efficiency.

Lots of chinese industrial kit is finish assembled and rebranded there , sold on to other european countries who often assume it was completely manufatured in germany and of quality.

Stuck on labels and reverseing some letters like those r,s in the name , is often a sign of knockoff kit.

i got clobbered for saying that you can run 2 - 1000w bulbs on a 20 amp breaker and here is a piece of equipment that says you can run 4 - 1000w bulbs on 30 amps.

then using 4000w plus but only getting billed for 2000w on a 30 amp breaker.

i run 5 -1000w bulbs 240v on a 40 amp breaker off my dryer connection to a light board and timer. so why spend $800.00?

i really have to start learning how to READ INSTRUCTIONS. i use $25. to power 1 light per month so i would save $50. a month right? after 16 months this would pay for its-self but if you have to shut it off after 8 hours; this would throw your light growing cycles into chaos.

you want to spend $800.00 on a piece of equipment that is advertized as pulling 2000w out of a household 120v 15 amp source.

then turning the 2000w into 4000w by inserting a 240v plug into the machine. then it mentions a 30 amp breaker. conflict of terms here.

i run 5 -1000w bulbs 240v on a 40 amp breaker off my dryer connection to a light board and timer. so why spend $800.00?

you plug this into 120v and watch your house burn = buyer beware

just thought id clarify, it says in the instructions that you need to plug into a 240v power source, not 120v

and in a grow room 30 amps is enough to cover 5 lights(23 amps about)

There are FOUR lights!

So the thing draws 3600 watts and can output 4000w for 8 hrs. I still
don't believe it, and it's a far cry from the title.

it should be 'Use 3600w to produce 4000w'. And it would still be against the laws of Physics and Electricity.
