Sealing up my grow closet, question.

I have been using a walk-in 5x10 closet for my grow room for four grows. My last grow, just finished, was by far my best yet. WOOHOOO!! (sorry bout' that)
Anyway, my room mate says that he could really smell my girls at the end of the grow, his bedroom is right next to my grow room, they share a wall. My whole house has paneling not sheet rock so I'm sure there are very small gaps top and bottom. I use a good carbon filter and vent up to the attic so I thought that would work but I couldn't run the exhaust fan 24/7 this last grow do to low temps.
OK, heres my question. Can I use a good caulk to really seal up the room? Should I be concerned about fumes?
I'm kind of worried about it becouse I'm hoping to be adding a second 600w light soon so I can utilize the whole closet space.

Opinions?
Thanks y'all. :tiphat:

you could use caulking, most are crazy stinky and fumy...
you could splurge just a little on it and buy gasket maker called "the right stuff" they sell it for automotive purposes and you can buy it at most auto part stores, although its kinda expensive. however, its good shit. but thats the only sealant that i can think of off hand that isnt going to stink like hell. aluminum tape, or good quality duct tape works well too.

Got a friend who uses the filter inside his room not blowing out. That could work for you when its cold.

I would seal the seams with goop stuff then staple some reflectix over top of everything after the glue dries for a few days. $40 for a 4'x25' roll and worth every penny.

*If you use caulking it will shrink as it cures so you may want to give it a second coat.

You can scrub the room. Push the air through the scrubber in the room. No ventilation needed, just the fan and scrubber.

Plus, I'm sure you could caulk it up a bit. dont they have low fume caulk?

What about just using white duct tape to seal all the corners and holes? I did this to an old closet years ago and it worked.

i dont know why you're trying to use caulk

try getting a role of black and white poly and cover the walls with that then just tape your seams up

I second the idea of using panda film, make the seams on the flat part of the wall not the corner and they will be easy to tape up.

i'm with mellow on this one .... panda film the whole closet & foil tape all the seams . even do the door .

Do not vent into your attic. Warm air blowing into the cold attic will cause condensation to builds and it will mold. Not good if you own the place.

Do the panda film on the walls, and get a speed controller for your fan so you can turn it down, not off, when it's cold outside. Then you'll always have negative pressure to keep the smell from getting out.
