bumpin this thread because its a current favorite right now. I been offered $100+k to work as an employee of a very reputable collective to grow their pot. It's not enough for the risks associated, particularly under the spotlight of the law. collectives sell pot for the same or less than the street, or no one would buy from collectives. duh. I consult collectives now. I design, build, maintain and manage a few collective grows as an independent contractor for a pretty good hourly wage, & I grow my own of course. now I have no salary cap and I'm not a board member of any of these not for profit orgs. People are growing and business is booming. The demand is high and people will pay. they need to so they can afford all the overhead involved when collectives have to grow their own and cant.

As far as I am concerned....we VOTED for this law, and anyone who has any of these problems, and can get MEDICAL marijuana RECOMMENDED (not PRESCRIBED) to BETTER there life or ILLNESS or PAIN or WHATEVER, is NOT in ANYWAY EXPLOITING the law..

What are they saying mj does for all those ailments I know for a fact that mj does not cure any form of cancer I have melanoma and have been through chemo and interferon treatment mj helped the side effects of treatment bigtime but did nothing to fight off the cancer. And when I lived in so-cali I hate to say this but I seen peeps come out of clinics after purchasing mj walk over to a parked car and hand over the mj to somebody that was waiting for them I was like wtf is this crap idiots like that are hurting the cause badly and I think when the feds to make it legal the assholes will make it not legal for us to grow it their going to give all the growing business to big corporations just like after booze was made legal was everybody still allowed to make their own.

In 8 days los angeles will declare open season on collectives that are not incompliance with New Rules that were voted into the los angeles city meetings.

Even the mayor doesnt know if they can close the collectives yet, he still signed the action tho.

Collectives must grow on site, collectives must have pre i.co. status and be open to inspection of records of donations, payments, medical records of patients and etc.

How will these new rules play out here, and other medical states?

Unless you were ingesting large quantities... I'm not surprised. Nobody ever said smoking/vaping or eating a bit of cannabis cured cancer.

Glad it helped with the side effects... sorry you had to go through chemo and all that.

Stay Safe! :tree:

Looks like the sh*t is starting to roll down South. Pretty soon folks will have to travel to the bay area to find a dispensary...You know SD County is even tougher on dispensaries than OC or LA.

SANTA ANA – The owner of a Lake Forest marijuana dispensary has been arrested on charges of illegally selling marijuana and laundering the profits through banks.

Mark Gregory Moen, 50, Westminster, is the owner-operator of 215 Agenda, a marijuana dispensary on Raymond Way in Lake Forest, according to a news release from the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

He was charged with 38 counts of money laundering, one count of possession of money over $100,000 obtained from illegal sales of marijuana, three counts of the sale of marijuana, one felony count of possession of marijuana for sale, and a sentencing enhancement for money laundering over $150,000.

Moen also faces two sentencing enhancements for crime-bail-crime because he was out of custody on bail for felony burglary charges in Orange County from October 2006 and felony transportation of more than $25,000 obtained as the result of illegal drug sales in Mendocino County in June 2009, prosecutors said.

If convicted on all counts, Moen faces a maximum sentence of 39 years in state prison. He is being held on $500,000 bail and must prove the money is from a legal and legitimate source before posting bond.

Robert Adams Moody, 23, Mission Viejo, a manager and operator of the dispensary, was also arrested and charged with sales of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, and cultivating marijuana. He faces a maximum sentence of eight years in state prison if convicted.

Marco Enrique Verduzco, 23, Foothill Ranch, another manager of 215 Agenda, was charged with sales of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. If convicted, Verduzco faces a maximum sentence of six years and eight months in state prison.

The three defendants are accused of selling marijuana to any person with a physician's recommendation, without any relationship to the purchaser and without requiring or requesting them to participate in collectively or cooperatively cultivating marijuana, according to the news release.

California law allows qualified patients with a physician's recommendation and their primary caregivers to "collectively or cooperatively ... cultivate marijuana for medical purposes," according to section 11362.775 of the state's health and safety code.

"We don't believe that was occurring in this situation," said Jeff Schunk, a deputy district attorney who is prosecuting the case. "We believe the way they were selling marijuana was illegal."

215 Agenda and another Lake Forest dispensary were raided Nov. 13 by Orange County Sheriff's Department investigators with search warrants. Investigators seized financial records including receipts, buyer sheets, member lists and check stubs from 215 Agenda and The Health Collective, looking for evidence that the two dispensaries were profit-making businesses and not nonprofit collectives, records and interviews showed.

On Sept. 30, Moen was stopped for a traffic violation while driving in Huntington Beach, prosecutors said. He was found to be in possession of more than $145,000 in cash. Moen told a Huntington Beach police officer that the money was the proceeds of eight days worth of sales at 215 Agenda, according to a search-warrant affidavit filed by investigators in connection with the Nov. 13 raid.

A phone call to 215 Agenda went unanswered on Monday afternoon.

An advertisement for 215 Agenda has appeared in the OC Weekly, according to the District Attorney's Office, that reads, "FREE MARIJUANA First time patients receive a free edible and a pre-roll with mention of this ad," and "We carry the Best Weed in the entire World!"

Moen and Verduzco were arrested Friday at 215 Agenda by investigators from the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Moody was arrested in a nearby store.

Moen is separately facing charges in a 2006 commercial burglary of a business in Santa Ana, Schunk said. Moen was linked to that crime by DNA evidence and charged in 2009, Schunk said. He has pleaded not guilty and was free on $20,000 bond, online court records show.

No mention of charges stemming from running a dispensary in the same building as a preschool-- only this trumped up charge:

"...The three defendants are accused of selling marijuana to any person with a physician's recommendation, without any relationship to the purchaser and without requiring or requesting them to participate in collectively or cooperatively cultivating marijuana, according to the news release..."

Seems LEO doesn't want cheap (free in this case) MJ either. OK with over $6.5 in sales (by extrapolation) they can afford to give some away. However, by enforcing participation in a collective, the DA's strategy could be to make sure that groups of people cooperatively growing their own medicine provide production cost only competition to undermine dispensary prices in the event they get too high. Safeguards against price gouging med patients and serves to reign in any profit margin dispensary earns.

No doubt, though, that some of these folks running dispensaries shouldn't be.

Yeah, there was another thread saying Budtending is now a dream job sought after by many.

My response was that the budtenders were taking on as much liabilty as the owners and getting paid squat for it.

Toohighmf turned down 100K when these greedy D operators are paying their budtenders minimum wage and when the shit hits the fan they just hang em out to dry.

Good. These types of people are the last types of people I want running a D, no matter how much they make.

He shouldn't even be allowed to get a job much less own and operate a D.

Take the Power Back!

Take the Power Back!

LA District Attorney Steve Cooley believes that he knows what is best for the people of California; yes the citizens who have already decided by vote that they want medical marijuana shops to operate legally within the borders of their beautiful state. The founding fathers and framers of our Constitution feared that in the future of america there would develop men such as LA District Attorney Steve Cooley and they put in place worded protections to guard the citizens of these United States from creatures of government such as Steve Cooley. Steve Cooley believes he knows what is best for you and I, while he hides under the guise of justice. Steve Cooley operates and interprets the law as he see's fit, completey ignoring a Presidential order to cease and desist prosecutorial activities against medical marijuana dispensaries that operate within the laws of the the state of California. Steve Cooley has become a "Master Of The People" and is spending citizens tax dollars to pursue his personal and hasty generalization of state and federal law. Men like Steve Cooley should be removed from office, and the manner in which they can be removed is through the voting process. Never before has it become more evident that the power of the people rest in the power of the voting process. The people of California must once again rise-up and utilize the privileged power given them and vote Steve Cooley from office; the people must show that they answer to no master except God almighty.
Steve Cooley must be voted out of office and replaced with a servant of the people for the people. God bless America the state of California and the medical marijuana community.
