Here are the Type II/Indica leaves of my reverse engineered Northern Lights. I think it's safe to say there was a _little_ Afghan history in the creation of NL 
:
But NL is definitely not pure Type II/Indica, like they used to say in the '90s:
Doesn't look much like a Type II/Indica, does it?
And before you young, smart Millennial whipper-snappers comment on either over-watering or over-fertilizing, you always have to keep in mind the _environment_ the plant/photo is in _before_ you make snap judgments and comment.
Posted this pic in the how do you sativa people do it in a 4x4 thread in the forum we don't talk about, and one of the "elder experts" there expressed his opinion that I was either over-watering or over-fertilizing my plants.
Btw, the temperature inside the tent when I took this shot was in the mid-30s Fahrenheit and the RH was in the '90s, hence the clawed leaves.
I ain't saying I've got the _best_ Afghan, and I've never sold shit to anybody, so nobody could get it anyways. But being the proud Papa I am, I'd like to think that _my_ shit is better than everybody else's.
But unlike the typical NL, it definitely _stinks_.

From last year Kentucky blue grass (Afghan landrace x skunk #1 ) and some have been back crossed through the yeears...stock from circa. 2001ish
These buds retain heavy Afghan resin and heavy smoke, musky a bit. Will turn dark and dense.

The frost level is insane on those plants, no doubt they would make some great hasch plants

Afghaan 90 is excellent. It’s one of my favorite all time smokes. Really old school effects, doesn’t lay you out on the couch but the buzz is definitely Indica in nature. I wish I knew more about the origins of the line though, I think all we know is what is listed on the RSC website that it was acquired in Amsterdam in 1990 but I would love to know more such as what area in Afghanistan was it originally collected from and whenI have some Afghann 90 from the real seed company waiting to be popped..

I’ve got a grow journal on them and the rsc c99. It lost a few photos in the website migration, but all the info is still there. They grew very true to the rsc description. I still have 6 I want to use in crosses, they cross out very well too, I have a great afghan 90 x c99 I’ve been running lately that I almost always keep as personal smoke.I have some Afghann 90 from the real seed company waiting to be popped..

Hi all, just about to start the flower cycle on my latest grow. I have 2x Afghaan 90, 1x c99, 1x GG4 x SFVog females and 5x C99 males, 1x Afghaan 90 male. Aside from the GG4 cross, all seeds came from kwik seeds/the real seed co. Germination rates were all good, put 6 c99's down all six...
