What's new

zero skunk smell?

Hi Dubi - I have been admiring your (and CBG) strains and your commitment to good customer service for many years now. Finally getting settled into my new growspace and getting ready for a run of some long flowering sativas. I have run some "super stretchers" before and so am somewhat experienced.

I am thinking that my first Ace seeds adventure should be around the 14week mark, so I have been looking at the Panama and the VietBlack/Thai, but am very open to any of your lines.

The most important factor for me right now is finding strains that do not smell like skunk at all. This is not about security - I am very legal and live on acres and grow in a sealed room with overkill filtration. I also don't want hay - I want strong terpenes. Woody, incense, fruity smells are all good, but I want ZERO skunk smell.

Which of your strains fit that criteria?

Much thanks in advance for your assistance.

The few Panama I am growing have a lovely electric lemon smell. Really looking forward to harvesting her. No skunk smell at all from the Panama.

A few Orient Express have a slight skunky type smell, not much, but sounds like you would notice it. The Orient Express is still a nice plant, but I would not recommend her for you.

My Bangi Haze, Congo and Nepalese Jam have no skunky smells to them either. I cant recall China Yunnan at the moment though.

I think Panama has the potential to be my favourite strain at the moment. She becomes a large plant, but the colas are an absolute joke! I am around week 9 at the moment and have 50+cm colas completely joined up. Going to be a very good yield.

I have never found a strain out of the hundreds if not thousands I have tried that didn't have at least undertones of skunkyness to it. What I can say is that some are far more musky and skunky than others and out of the small selection of strains I have growing the Nep Jam is the least skunky. It has a complex smell which varies from day to day but it's sort of like an astringent floral smell with a rich sweet undertone.

I can second that Orient Express does have a slightly musky and skunky smell although there is a sweetness to it like overripe fruit. It's nowhere near as skunky as that damn Auto Cheese I tested the waters with. That thing stank by the time it was a week old.

I should add that the odors I am reporting on the two Ace strains are only up through the start of flowering. I don't know if they will change as they finish maturing.

The skunky auto cheese went from super skunky smells during veg to a sort of wet hay and blueberry smell with a taste very similar to that of burning vulcanized rubber by the time it finished flowering. I would not recommend auto cheese to anyone except people who are looking for a high CBD strain and who don't care what it smells and tastes like. It was however a tough little plant that was easy to grow so it wasn't all fail.

Thanks for your kind words :)

All our strains have 0 skunk influence so you wont find the skunky/afghani smells that are so typical nowadays within the dutch/north american commercial lines. You are looking in the right place if you are not looking for that typical skunky aroma.

Panama, Orient Express, Nepal Jam, Pakistan Chitral Kush, Malawi, China Yunnan ... they all have deep aromas and their own personality, not related to skunk.

Let us know if you have any other doubt.

Best regards!

Hi everyone, currently growing panama and Malawi. Prest1 and dubi, do you guys mean there is very little marijuana smell given off by these strains, I have almost loss my sense of smell so I am overly paranoid about smell issues. Do they have much less scent than the more mainstream dutch strains?

Looking at the lower flowering times from Ace, I've only run the Bangi Haze. Not a skunk smell, but it was very strong during flower (maybe the strongest smelling plants I've grown). It was onion, animal, lemon and body funk. It would get on your clothes and would linger for quite some time. The flowers ultimately cured to a lovely lemony funky sort of flavor.

The haze and haze hybrids smell delicious in flower. Woody, spicy incense with floral notes.

Best luck in your searches...

I had to go and smell my Aces...none of them has strong smell.
Panama gave little citrus smell, when I rubbed it.Black Domina X Vietnam Black thai doesn't have much smell either.
Ace Mix did smell grass and Kali China smelled bit musky, when rubbed...
I don't think you need to worry about smells?

Panama smells like cannabis to me but certainly not skunk, like fine earthy lemony, spicy deliciousness.
