hi guys,

i took some cuttings from a blueberry that had just started to flower, which i know is ok,but she turned hermie on me a week later due to an embarrasing light leak.
i was about to throw the cuttings but i stopped to think...maybe once they root and return to veg mode, this would almost 'reset' them, therefore reducing the chances of them turning, asuming they are not stressed again?

hope this makes sense

If the plant hermied easy, the clones will do the same thing. Are you sure that the plants arent male. When they first start flowering, some small balls could be mistaken for female flowers. How old were they when you started flowering and how far into 12/12 until you noticed the balls?

hi JJS,
the plant was a feminized blueberry, she was 2 weeks into 12/12,i caused her turn almost definately as i had a heater in with her and i had forgotten that the switches on the side of it glow bright fucking red,i only noticed when i had to stick my head in during lights out... :yoinks:

If it where me I'd pass and root something else. If a plant hermied because of low red glow of a heater and rather quickly I'm assuming, then the plant was shit to begin with.

Good Luck

i am also rooting 8 ak-48's so i'm gonna stick with it just to see.

incidently,i am exteremely unimpressed with my fem seeds,so far i have had 3 out of 4 seeds turn out to be mutants,i was aware of their hermie traits and was prepared for that but the rate of mutants is ridiculous.

no more feminized for me

What strain, from what breeder, if you would say? :chin:

i'd blame the seeds if they hermed that easily (assuming no other stress was induced). Feminized seeds are a joke me thinks, raises the genetic instability of the plant. IMHO you are better off buying the regular seeds and sexing than purchasing seeds that you know are going to be female but have a higher rate of mutants, hermies, and weaklings so by the time you weed all those out you would have the same amount of healthy girls as the regular seeds

IMHO

dociron-they are dutch passion feminized blueberry

i have been growing for 3 years now and i have always used reg seeds,i got a christmas bonus at work so i thought i would treat myself, and since a grower friend of mine had had complete success with his dp seeds i thought they would be a safe bet, plus the fact i already had a veg room full of ak's and could only squeeze one more pot in.

if i get 2 good bitches out of this lot i'll be happy.but as i said, never again

i will post the outcome of this for anyone thats interested..in the meantime i'll crack another bean...hopefully it wont be any worse than a 60% failier rate :chin:

Hush, yes i would agree to just go with normal seeds. Femisized seeds have a higher rate of being female yes, but i've heard too many stories how they dont add up to what they should. Blueberry is known to be a weak feeder, so who know's , it could be a number of things that could have stressed them enough to turn them hermie on you. If i were u , i'd just vegg out them ak's , find the best suitable mother, and go from there. By the way, what is your grow room dimensions, what medium are you using, what size pots, light, etc. -Opt

yeah i think you could be right guys,i'm lucky enough to have a big garden,i'll put one outside,i'm still curious.

Opt-i'm sure the bright red light next to her certainly did the job,i've grown many blues before thanks to a donation from a friend so i'm pretty used to handling them with kid gloves.

anyway, heres a pic of a very soon to be chopped ak-48

she was a mother i was using for a while until she got infested with spider mites,i found spidermitecontrol from growell and this is the result i can highly recomend it

Does anyone have some macro shots so I can tell the diff between. Hermie and male. This would help me out a lot.

personally, i use to get the occasional male flower on my fem seeds, until i realised that i was flowering too early, and it stressed the plant, also took 5 nirvana nl x big bud fem seeds, and femed one of the stronger females by using ga, and ended up with over 100 femed seeds, and my last grow, had no male flowers, i actually vegged them to maturity this time before i flowered and 100% success

i popped another bean the other day,its opened up but its still too early to tell weather its gonna be another freak or not...heres hoping

btw that pic is from a jack flash x buddah,i have hundreds of those beans but so far i have had none that have been any good, ironicly the ones i have given to friends have been great,6 foot buggers

Feminized seeds hold about as much appeal to me as getting my dick sucked by a transvestite.
For what they cost you can buy twice the amount of regular stable seeds and as a plus have a males to breed some F2's with.
I'm sorry for your ordeal, it's hard to speperate practicality from hype sometimes.
