your homegrown better than good street bud?

just wondering as my plans are still on track for first grow to begin soon. before all u guys and girls grew, did u get really good bud from other people? like real deal sour d, AK, bogglegum, etc, good? if yes, then how does your homegrown good bud compare to the bud you bought before? and what are/were your favorite grows, in terms of potency, then appeal, then yield? i'm planning my first grow of either BB or bogglegum. just wondering if it will be as good as the shit i get now, like the one's listed above... that would be pretty sweet. free sick buds.

pre medi mari in cali, I had smoked one strain I knew the name of that I had not grown myself.

post medi mari, have smoked a whole truckload of strains that had a name.

Now does my home grown match up?
hmm, no doubt that i have harvested a strain or two that at least compared to the best ive had from the coops.

Everything i have grown has been better then pretty much everything I ever obtained "without a name". Although to this day, the one strain I knew the name of pre medi mari, is still the #1 strain ever for me. it was called M10.. afaik clone only to a small group of growers (if more than 1)... (after the bag was depleted, there was such a thick layer of trichs stuck to the baggie, it looked like the baggie was filled with coke....) a legend in MY mind

...running down to the local "co-op" is just not an option for the majority of us...and even if it is an option, it is too expensive.

...Trust me when I tell you that I have never been as high as I was when I smoked my first "sunny-grown" bud

I think I get high from the whole process...the planting of the seed/clone....the caring nuturing the growth, the beauty....smoking almost becomes a non-issue....

It's rare that I get something better than I grow myself. It's never cured right. That's the biggest problem I see. The genetics are good but dickheads want to sell it wet cause it weighs more. I wont buy that shit. I just got a couple oz of some alleged "Super Skunk" that was pretty good all the way around. I was impressed with it and I thought it was on par with my homegrown shit. I paid 360/oz for it and I consider it top notch. Usually, the only way I buy something is if it is better than or equal to my own stuff. Or if I had a period where I didnt grow, like I'm now waiting for my first crop in a while, I'll go out and get something like the SS above. Hillbillie is right on the $ about the whole experience too.

I still have one freind that only comes around the holidays....that still gets some killer outdoor Kentucky Skunk every season (huge 10-15ft tall plants)

...I can only grow indoors
but imo: the taste/smell of a properly grown full season outdoor plant can't be done indoors


but thats not really "street bud"...unless you know the right people and live in the right area
...most of the people in my area can only get highly compressed mexi brick weed...and that stuff dosn't even rate on my scale


and my stuff is better then all of the highest priced street bud that I've bought in the past 15 yrs or so
...and like others have said the people that do indoor grow for profit reasons, never seem to get it right cure/taste not anywhere near as good as my indoor organic buds

I sometimes wonder if the kind I bought before becoming a grower isn't on a false pedestal of some kind. I remember a couple scores that were so memorable they belong in my pantheon of great bud. But how good was it really? As a midwesterner, I smoked only the California rejects from Mexico for decades and on a trip to San Francisco, I got a $60 1/8 (15 years ago!) that blew my mind! But the odds are very good it was so spectacular because I had been smoking Mexican schwag for all those years. If I had it now would it measure up? I kinda doubt it.

but i'm not sure about 'good street bud' the commercial growers around here don't seem to care about anything but weight - so it ain't difficult - just give it enough time to finish,flush it properly and dry it properly - and you have them beat !

cool, that's the answers i was looking for. i can't wait to grow my own good buds. both my reliable, but expensive, connects get their stuff from ny. 1 from staten island and other 1, better 1, from brooklyn. of course u know he's blaming his price now on the recent big brooklyn pot bust. i know he deals w/ people from brooklyn that move alot, but 500 for an oz of haze...? seems fucking crazy. pretty much everything i get from him is around 500/oz.. haze, sourd, nycd. other guy gets good shit too but is a bit cheaper. 400 for oz of AK-47.
-msteelers,i read above what u wrote about curing. until i started browsing these boards a few months ago, i didn't even know about curing. i really can't wait. if my wife wasn't due for birth in a fewweeks i would be started already. i think i'm gonna start once baby boy is home, settled and once we're back into the swing of things.she's due 5/2, hopefully i'll be able to start by end of may. i'm also thinking of getting it started before he comes, don't know what would be better. until then i'll just keep getting robbed i guess.

word up bro. I know one local grower who does his girls justice. Still, its a commercial op and doesn't get the care that a hobby grower like myself gives their garden. For him, its a bottom line, for us, its a passion :friends:

unless u know good growers that really care about the quality the majority of homegrown is pretty bad imo, in the uk most growers are innit for cash and thats it ,most the crops are hurried and not dryed right and some of the trimming is disgusting ,,,thank shiva i never have to buy none,,,,,but growing your own should be better than anything u can buy imo

that would be sweet i must say. no that would be fuckin sweet! i think once i start and learn how shit goes while growing, i'll be hooked.

vin, just do a grow and see how it turns out, I think youll end up plesantly surprised. My first grow ended up far better than anything I can get locally. Some people were saying it was the best bud they had ever seen or smoked. We're talking about top44 on my first ever attempt to grow ANYTHING.

First grows are fun, and yes vin, yes you will get hooked.
