What do you guys think is the best cerebral SOG favoring strain... I'm not big on ak47 or any bland lame stuff. I want something with some real complexity, and stimulation.

These come to my mind as the top of the line.
NL #5 x Haze
S.A.G.E
Jack Herrer
Super Silver Haze
Pure Power Plant

I am about to germinate some S.A.G.E beans as we speak, but I'd still like as much information as I can get. I always love to have a contingency plan.

there is no such thing as a sog strain, almost any strain will work well in sog it just needs to be flowered right away, from seed or clone, and it will grow one tall stalk with no branching, it's as simple as that. sure there are a few strains that are just excessive branchers and you may have to do a tiny bit of pruning to keep them single stalk, but not much.

pot is like clay, it can be grown in any shape you want, trained to do all sorts of things, but if you are good at the style you are growing in(sog, vert, dwc, scrog) you will find that almost all strains will work just fine for you...

I have to to respectfully disagree with ya on there is no such thing as a SOG strain. I for one dont' like this style of plant, ie; single main dominant cola. I want mine branching out heavily. there are most definitely varieties that exhibit this trait. I will agree with the rest of your post though for sure.
I find The Grape Ape cut we run would be stellar in a SOG. the entire branch, no matter the number of them, turns into a cola. Not really fast in veg though.
White Rhino would be the one for commercial production. Huge colas that provide some very worthwhile hash the color of brick. Potent as well. Bland in the flavor department.

Peace

I still reckon an indica is the go.

Only use known female clones for a SOG. Plant at 4 per sq/ft. I believe veg time is a waste of time in a SOG. I put my clones straight on to 12/12.

But if you really want to veg I wouldn't go longer than a week.

Trim any lateral growth that does not stay close to the main cola.

Have a read of this link.

I'll bookmark that link, thanks mang!!!

I know how to SOG lol :)

I use 1 liter Fiji water bottles which are square (more root capacity than circle). They are 3".

I don't veg at all unless need be. I just take clones, and soon as they root I put them in flower.

I just wanted a thread for you guys to enjoy coming to, and looking at
. I figured what better way than to have a little structure to the thread. (List your favorite strain, List your favorite yeilder, List your favorite Indica, List your favorite Sativa) All SOG related off course, and pictures being required so we can see how those strains do (people love seeing a strain they want, or have, in action).

This is my strain I call Sweet 16

I used Mikado from Federation Seeds and Sweet Tooth #3 from Spice of Life. Took forever to find a pheno that had a low leaf count in the buds and very little branching for SOG.

The last pic is the strain flowering in dixie cups just for fun.

I've been away for a while, but I'm back. With a additional years under the belt.

Just wanted to bump the thread, and see what you guys got!!!!!

I'm starting from scratch. I've gifted all of my seeds away. I'm going to have to do a order soon. Probably Papaya/White Rhino from Nirvana just to be cheap, and get things started.
I'm nowhere near dispensaries to have access to clones to play with.

Lets see your favorite SOG strains!

HSO Purple Trainwreck.

Definitely stood out as a SOG type strain - minimal side branching, didn't crowd the other plants, just stayed in about 1 square foot and made big thick buds.

Not sure about NL x Haze type strains, e.g. Amnesia. Lots of side-branching.

Maybe more a SCROG (bush) type ? ... if I have the terms right.

Got an Amnesia in the bathtub/ closet now, about 7 days into 12/12 ... REALLY branchy.

I see people posting pictures of mainly exclusive genetics. What about from seed companies, I'd really be interested I'm seeing SOG grows from seeds that are commercially available.

The latest version of Dr Atomic's NL is the modern day sog master for mixed a balanced indica. The pics of the most of the members here doesn't look like his version either. Everyones version on this site look more sativa leafed. I have my guess why but I'll leave it at that. Smells are pine, sweetnes, and indian Spices... Trichome production is perfect 8-10 weeks. Don't like the high? Choose males from his pack and bastardise your favorite kush,or whatever you fancy and go through the resulting seeds to find that stick of bud with the mothers cannaprofile. Considering that he linebreed both the mom and dad for multiple generations and practically gives it way...People don't get it; his NL is great breading tool.
