Yellowing of Leaves

This is my first attempt at organic growing. These are pics of my Bubblegum @ 24 days. My soil mix consists of: 2 part Ocean Forest Fox Farm Organic Potting soil, 1 Part Perlite, and 1 Part Vermiculite. My concern is what's causing the yellowing of the bottom leaves. Any help would be appreciated. This has all come about in the last 3 days, and it looks as if the yellowing may be moving up the plant.

I'm not sure if there's that much of a problem - those two leaves kept the whole plant going, so it's only natural that they will be discarded as new growth takes hold. Think of them as the solid-fuel boosters on the space-shuttle...:)

I would sit tight for a couple of days - I don't think it's a deficiency, and may be exaggerated from over/under-watering, but I think it's OK. The top leaves look perfectly healthy...

Thanks guys for your help. I'm thinking that the Fox Farm Ocean Forest is about to give out. From the research I've done, it seems that the soil only lasts for about a 3 weeks. I'm going to hold off for a minute. As far as watering is concerned, I only did it every 3 days.

I quite agree with you.....

Whenever Im doing a new mix.... And dont really know how much food is in the mix.....

The plant can tell you in pretty short order how many ferts are available....

The cotyledons are sort of like a feed me guage.....

When they begin to yellow is when I normally begin to feed......

And this is even more true if the chlorosis spreads to the first real leaves.....

It looks to me like you should have fed about a week ago......

You have standard N def.....

Best thing...

a square meal.... with all micronutes included.....

I totally agree. I went through the same thing with with my plants in FoxFarm planting mix. As soon as I gave them a "square meal", the yellowing stopped spreading.
Peace. Evl :sasmokin:

do all the nutrients wash out of the FFOF after 3 weeks from watering mostly,

or does the plant actually suck all of the good stuff out of the soil in that short a time? Is this largely because containers are used, I.E. things would be different outdoors and the plants would not require nutrient water (which could just as easily be dumped into some bubbling buckets? ? ? i want to try. i have all stuff. just hesitant because the soil seems to do well with any water regardless of PH) if they were instead planted in a patch outside that had been amended w/ the OF?

i ask because i've had the exact same experience with the FFOF soil. after about three weeks, if every other watering isn't guano tea, ahhhh nitro deficiency city man! i use gh flora nutes after that, the micro and bloom. no grow.

i say those plants look fine. just feed them with something with nitrogen + micros soon, and they'll pull out of their sickness very soon. i use mexi bat guano tea made with tap water bubbled for a day or so to feed vegging plants.

FiveSevenZero, from the research that I've done concerning the FFOF, the soil has more or less a 3 week supply of nutrients for the plant. It's not that it's washed out during watering. I gave the babies the "square meal" that was discussed earlier. The chlorosis of the leaves seems to have ceased. I'll watch them closely. I'd like to thank everyone who has responded to this thread and been there for me while i'm still in my organic infancy. So easy to :fsu:
