Yellowing/Brown Dots

Guest

My first grow has been plagued with issues from the start. These plants are well over 2 months old and look very small for their size. I have thrown 10 out of 14 of these Casey Jones away over the past few weeks due to yellowing. I attempted to stop this by using 1 tablespoon per gallon 5-1-1 fish fert, which burned all of them completely. What I have left is one plant(first photo) doing some-what okay now. The rest have lost most of their nodes to yellowing. My question is, how can I stop this progressive yellowing from claiming more nodes of the only somewhat heathy plant I have right now? I didn't fert this plant at all so far. It is in moonshine mix. Would a 1/4 dose of 5-1-1 green up the bottom leaves? Is my problem even nitrogen? The other pic has yet another plant that developed these dots after using the ferts on it. This is nute burn, correct? Thanks

The problem was you need to not use so much fish emulsion; 1 tsp per gallon would have fixed it since you are in a rich soil mixture. How often were you feeding when you were? When was the last feeding?

You need to feed them plants; they have both nitrogen and phosphorus issues going. Either it's caused by pH or you not feeding enough.
You gave your plants a boles dose of nutrients which was not good; you need to start feeding light then work your way up; the smaller the plant the smaller they need fed; bigger plants need more food.
They can only take in as much food as the size of there leaves are.

The yellowing sounded like it was nitrogen; nitrogen sucks leaves dry and the plant drops them or it ends up shriveling up and falling off.

Have you tested the ph of your mixture?

I need a little more information can you fill out these questions?

SOIL:
What STRAIN are you growing?
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?)
What is the age of your plants?
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc)
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot)
What substrate/medium are you using? (percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?)
What Nutrient's are you using? How much of each? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
What method of pH test was administered?
When was your last water?
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding?
What size bulb are you using?
What is the distance to the canopy?
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity)
What is the canopy temperature?
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range)
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?
Is your water HARD or SOFT?
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?
Are plant's infected with pest's?

What is the age of your plants? Too old; probably 3 months.
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? Veg
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc) --
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot) 6 inch dia.
What substrate/medium are you using? (percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?) Moonshine mix w/30-40% Perlite
What Nutrient's are you using? How much of each? 5-1-1(only fed once and burn, did NOT fed yellowing plant)
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used? --
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"? 6.5ish
What method of pH test was administered? Strip
When was your last water? Today
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding? Never on the NON burned plant(moonshinemix)
What size bulb are you using? 6x26 watt cfl
What is the distance to the canopy? 2 inches
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity)35-40%
What is the canopy temperature? 78 F
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range) 78-80 day, 55-60 night
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.) --
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? Not directly
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist? Um.. not sure? water by pot weight. so a mix of wet/moist/dry
Is your water HARD or SOFT? Not sure
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched? no
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when? just 1 no pest strip
Are plant's infected with pest's? not that i know of, no

Ok, this is very simple; start feeding her now. What nutrients do you have to choose from? Your pH is fine; you just need to start feeding weekly.
She needs a balance; fish emulsion will work for the nitrogen issue; but since your plant is deficiency in phosphorus too you need something stronger than fish emulsion, it's only got 1 P and 1 K

Do you have any other nutrients besides fish emulsion? You also need to make sure you have micronutrients in her too; so you need mostly 2 to 3 kinds of nutrients making sure they all have a balance and making sure they all do not contain NPK; otherwise you double up on them; so you want something like grow bloom and micronutrients if possible. A lot of them out there have most of them in one bottle; do you have access to hydro shop?

well if you can get ahold of canna terra products get those; it's a matter of preference; but canna you can go by there directions on the back of the bottle.

Pure blend is a good one to use, I used pure blend grow and bloom with earthjuice feed weekly 1 tsp per gallon and earthjuice micro every 2 weeks at 2 tsp per gallon. microblast and pure blen had a total feednig regimen; but one thing was missing was calcium; microblast has no calcium but if you use tap water you should not need it if your water is semi hard.
You would have to have a TDS meter to tell if your water was hard or soft.
Do you want organics or chemical nutrients?

I can't get ahold of Canna Terra. What I am confused about, when looking for a complete feeding regimen, is the difference between the Pure Blend Grow/Bloom and their "Pro" counterparts. Would I be looking for the former non-pro jugs? I am also confused as to whether or not you are refering to two seperate earthjuice products or just one?

Am I missing anything from this list as far as "completeness"?

Pure Blend Grow
Pure Blend Bloom
Earthjuice Microblast

Also, should I be using the bloom during veg too? As in, all mixed together?

You do not need to use bloom in veg, but you are deficienctso I would use both for a few feedings then back off on the bloom till flowering.

Yes earthjuice microblast is one product; the company that makes it is earthjuice the microblast is the products name.

pbp there is 2 different kinds one for soil and one for hydro; it's made differently. Like I said though it's all personal preference when it comes to nutrients it's up to how your growing style is.

Pure blend products are very good though. I reccomend you reading up on them a bit before choosing which one you want to use.

I used PB grow and microblast in veg and veg bloom and microblast in veg using 1 tsp of each weekly, but the earthjuice I still used every 2 weeks.

Well, I decided to get the package of Fox Farms Nutrients(Tiger Bloom, Grow Big, Big Bloom) because of a sale off Fox Farms products at my local hydro shop. What I didn't find was microblast. They had alot of earthjuice products but that wasn't there. Should I be looking for anything else to go along with the grow big during veg? Liquid Karma perhaps? Also, should I use any Tiger Bloom at a low dosage for a few feedings like mentioned? The grow big is 6-4-4. I realize the set isn't completely organic, but I am okay with this at this point - Still learning.

Yes, go ahead and use tiger bloom and grow. Use 1/2 teaspoon of each into a gallon of waterl those damaged leaves will not recover so you want to make sure newer growths are not affected.

Tiger bloom has trace minerals; will have to find out which; but your plants get calcium and magnesium from your water; depending on how soft your water is is when you have to suppliment with calcium and magnesium,
If your water is semi hard you may not have to suppliment. Since you do not have a TDS meter you will not know how hard or soft it is.

Microblast is very good stuff I never got a micronutrient issue while using it; I had one micronutrient issue and that was magnesium.
Nope you got everything you need for now;

Do not listen to the directions on the back of those bottles; FF has a ridiculcous feeding regimen that will fry your plants. FF big bloom is strong stuff I used it towards the last few weeks of flowering to help put on extra weight on the buds.

REmember always start out small and work your way up; you should only have to adjust your dosage 2 or 3 times 2 times in veg and once in flowering.
