hello my first grow moving pretty steadily now after the catastrophe at the start. i have thinned out the crops to 2 female 1 white widow and 1 satori. About 5 days ago this problem started and thinking it was an Mg def i started to water with 1.5 tsp of MgSO4 (Epsom salt) per gallon of water. Well after the 5 days the problem has gotten worse and i feared a lock out caused by the salt so yesterday i flushed the plants because it was their day to get watered. im not sure if it helped or not because as ive learned there is no instant cure so im posting to get other insight into the problem and cure it. here are some pictures of the affected areas

Hiya C6

Your problem is a lack of Nitrogen, which is one of the first problems you get in flowering as, the plant uses lots of Nitrogen for healthy growth and most bloom nutrients don't contain enough of it.

You've made the problem worse by flushing - don't flush on soil, there's no need to, and all you do is wash out even more nutrients with the dissolved salts! A simple plain watering with a small amount of run off is usually sufficient to flush out any dissolved salts there might be, in any case in this instance that wasn't your problem - it's a lack of Nitrogen.

You need to use a grow nutrient in combination with a bloom nutrient to help put some of that Nitrogen back, but forget about the already yellowing leaves - they're dead you wan't correct them, but you can slow down and stop any more going yellow.

You'll also have to figure out a more precise measurement system than 1 tsp per gallon!

Hope this helps.

so where do i go from here. seeing as how i flushed yesterday is it safe to give them a good feeding or would it be better to wait and how much. i havent even switched to the bloom formula yet im still using the grow 12-6-6 cuz i was hoping to avoid this very problem. and how much should i give em? my measuring system is all that i can afford so i got to make it work.

Fertilise it at the next watering, but let it dry out first after your flush. Can you not get one of those little plastic pipettes or small plastic syringes with Mil marked on them? They don't cost a lot and you can get them from most hydro stores.

You really need to have a more accurate way of measuring your nutrient solution.

Stick with your grow formula for the moment, 12-6-6 has decent N in it and I'd probably be feeding something like 2 or 3 mil per litre, which would be about 8 or 12 mil per gallon. A teaspoon is about 5 mil, so about two teaspoons per gallon.

Give it a next feed of about 2 teaspoons per gallon of the 12-6-6 and then see how the plant looks and adjust it either up or down.

I had a similar problem with younger plants and was told to start feeding them and now they r fine. Theres no point giving them any more Grow formula, so find out the amount of bloom formula is recomended if u know the make?
And i'v just checked and a teaspoon in my house is 5ml i'd imagin they r all the same ;)
thats what mine looked like.

im an engineer so converting isn't difficult just annoying. but i like the idea of the pipette didn't even think of that and the fact that i work at a chemical supply store will just make it that much easier to get.
so riddle me this, how long before i start feeding with the bloom formula?

YUp, simple nitrogen deficiency there; time to start feeding them. If I were you I would be transplanting them soon; they are looking a little crowded.

transplant again. their already bigger then i can handle what will transplanting them do to their growth? and what size am i shooting for now

Good question! Let's get back to basics.

Why fertilise at all? To replace depleted nutrients the plants needs for healthy growth. When will you need to replace primarily bloom nutrients Potassium and Phosphorus? When the plant is producing heavy flower growth and using those nutrients in large quantities.

At the moment, your plant is depleting all the Nitrogen store, and it's still only early in flowering. You've still got about 50 days flowering to go yet, what's that plant going to look like at the end if you don't continue replacing Nitrogen?

I'm assuming that plant has been in that pot for some time, so you have two options open -

Repot now and allow the plant access to new stores of Nitrogen and then wait to start feeding bloom nutrients later in flowering when those stores are depleting or, continue with grow nutrients high in Nitrogen until such times as you need to start replenishing bloom nutrients in the middle to latter stages of flowering.

I'd repot personally - it's easiest in the longer term, and it's still early in flowering - just don't disturb the rootzone any more than you need to.
