hello everyone. for the past few days these spots have slowly consumed fan leaves starting from the bottom up..does anyone recognize this? please help!
i grow all organic in soil, and i wouldnt say i over-water..i've been utilizing the "lift the pot" method of watering..though i do mist my plants a fair amount because of somewhat low humidity.
Do you have small pots? Have you checked for rootbinding? It definitely seems like a nutrient lockout, the trick is finding out what is causing it to do that, what are temps like and what nutes and PPm do you use?
thanks for the quick responses! i just transplanted from a 1 gallon container to almost a 10 gallon, and did not notice roots spinning around the bottom of the pot so i think i transplanted before it became a problem..my room stays around 78 but it might get a little lower because of the cold nights, though they are still under 24hrs light. as far as nutrients, they are only getting what is in the soil, which is supposed to be very light.
Yeah, the temps are fine, I bet it could have been from the root boundness, mine seem to start feeling sick when that happens. I bet that will solve some problems, remember that old leaves will still look hurt even though the problem is fixed, but the new growth should not suffer this, and it should not spread to the rest of the leaves either once the roots start growing into new soil again. Are those the lower leaves? How many leaves are looking like that?
I also noticed my plants were happier under a bit of a dark cycle. 24 hours light is just unnnatural. IMO
yes it is just on the lower leaves, very mildly until about the 4th node so if it doesnt progress any further i'll know it just needed a transplant..thanks again
Going from a 1-gal to 10 gals is quite a large jump. Be REALLY REALLY careful with your watering. It's easy to end up with soggy soil because the plant simply can't access the whole mass of DIRT and use up the moisture in it.

Are plant's infected with pest's?nope
few problem I see with this... your jump into a bigger pot is a mistake... leads to over watering like stinky has stated....
what soil brand are you using?
I would get some ph test strips since you are on a budget.
do not use soil testers they always say your ph is 7 even when it's acidic as hell.
ph test strips from hardware stores, garden shops or pool supply shop will help way better than soil tester.
since you have not fed them any nutrients and you just transplanted...... I would need to know what mixture you are in first.
Either ph is off a bit, but I know they are hungry by now,... they need to be fed nutrients; but you need to be sure the ph is not off before you feed. Otherwise you end up adding more nutrients to the soil when there already was in there to begin with but the ph was locking out absorption of the nutrients.
the soil is about 1/4 master gardener(similar to ff ocean forest), 1/4 ocean forest itself, finished off with miracle grow organic and added perlite. i think i have some pH test strips...should i test the soil itself? or should i wait to water and check the pH of runoff...i'm a noob when it comes to checking pH legitimately...and your right those cheap soil testers hardly differ in a reading.
now i'm all paranoid about over watering lol...the pot is still very heavy, should i wait a little before i do the test? or does this need to go down sooner rather than later..
I'd just pull a soil sample and test it instead.
mix a few tablespoons soil sample with about 2 ounces of distilled water in a clean jar, cover it and shake well. Wait a while for the mud to settle down in the water and dip your pH test strip.
wait a while and see what happens. You transplanted, so now the plant needs to recover and you will be able to notice if it gets better or worse on the new growth and of course if it gets worse on the old leaves etc. PH is not such a huge issue in soil IMO due to all the ingredients in FFOF to buffer that, it is a complete soil mix, I still think it's a mix of rootbinding, and/or genetics. I've had a plant that did that, got brown splotches on a bunch of leaves, it was very sensitive to under/overwatering I believe, since no other plants did this. I even cloned it and tried again (bullrider) but had the same results. It seems like it spread to alot of older leaves, it was quite annoying so I ditched the plant and never had a similar problem....maybe genetics is the problem, you even added perlite which would give it great aeration....hmm
