A few weeks ago I got a note on my door saying the landlord needed to put up some sort of device to measure the amount of radon in the appartment.
In the note it said people would come sometime during october, but another letter would arrive specifying what date.
My plan was to wait and see what day they would come and then put the plants away in the basement for the day as well as being home.

Today when I tended my girls, 5 weeks into flowering, i noticed something odd hanging on the wall. A radon-meter.

Those fucktwats never did send a note they just came in when I wasnt around.

The tent was closed but with small lightleaks, the carbonfilter was not working properly so there was smell and I also had papers and a bong out.
To make matters worse, I also had a fairly large growbox of mushrooms next to the tent which they cannot have missed.

It hurt my soul but the first thing I did was to dispose of my girls and give away all dried shrooms aswell as the growbox.
This makes me sad but better safe than sorry right? Anyone who had to dispose of beautiful genetics 5 weeks into flower (with just another 3 weeks to go) know how it feels.
How long time before I could start growing again? 2 weeks is enough or more?

dude, you threw away all your stuff, and you think 2 weeks is long enough

The first thing I would do would be to lay low for a bit. Then find your landlord and kind of feel him out on the whole situation. I think at that point you can look at starting again

If he is paying your electrical bill or buys into teh whole crap about mold and grow ops, then your going to need to move

Good luck

I used to have several maintenance contracts for rental property owners. Anytime work was scheduled to be done, I was given the building's master key and told to knock, wait, then enter if no response. On more than one occasion I have seen grows or scales or drugs or some other evidence of illegal activity.

Yeah you're probably right... Just kinda upset right now and wants to get back on the horse.
It wasnt the landlord that entered the premises, it was contractors.
Its not just a landlord its a big company im renting from (owning houndreds of appartments)

Anyway staying low for a while does sound like a good idea. thanks

Thats no fun. Has your landlord said anything to you since they came by? Was he there to let them in? If he saw or smelled it and was worried about it he probably would just kick you out, unless there is a reward for turning in growers in your town. Even if he knows and doesn't care, I wouldn't want anyone knowing I'm growing.

I don't know if I would ever grow there again, that is a huge security breech the way I see it. If your lease doesn't run out for a while, I'd see what kind of terms you can arrange with your landlord to get out early. It might cost your deposit or more, but its better than being in jail and the fines you'll have to pay.

In 1989 I made the fatal error of not breaking down after a security breach. 9 days later they served a search warrant and I got 5 years of probation + piss tests. You did the right thing.

I would wait until you live else where. That location is dead in my mind. But like everyone is saying, you did the right thing.

If anyone knows, then out the grow goes.

You did the best thing in breaking down and disposing, that is if you want to
stay free.
I had a beautiful grow with some of BOG's genetics is Arizona in a special built
room-in-a-room. Was doing some 12 pounds each 4 months and making a few
bucks. I was buying the house from a bank. The bank sent a letter making
some maint. claim need, but also stated they would send out a date to be
expecting the contractor. I never got the date letter, but I did find evidence
of the maint. contractor doing the work when I came home. Your story sounds
so similar to mine that I wonder if it is history repeating.
The girls were in 6th week of flower(bogglegum, lifesaver) and I literally died when
I hadda take em down early. I hadda sell em for early bud, still wet and lost my
ass.
BUT, the room was squeaky klean for any and all purposes. In less than ten days
I had a swat team kicking my door down complete with warrant. I was at work,
and when I got home, they slapped a warrant on me.
They found dick. The red faces looked like cherries and the leo's were REAL upset
that they found an obvious grow room with no-grow. HA!!!HA!!!!
I never grew again at that location, reasoning that since they made a failed raid that
they would be monitoring and watching for any suspicious activity. I saw a shitload
of cops and helicopters in the next few weeks. I finally ditched the house on the
market and booked to a new safer location.
Just goes to show, landlords can't be trusted and neither can maint. contractors.
Stay Free.

:yeahthats

I'd be looking into new digs as soon as possible. Preferably in a different area of town, perhaps closer to work? :D

When in doubt get a storage unit and lay low. I don't think relocating to a different living space is by any means irrational. Then again, you may have to wait for your lease to finish up too. Best of luck

What he said^^

I wouldn't feel to safe to grow there ever again just wait till the year lease is up and get a new apartment if possible have someone else signed the new lease for you then you can grow with peace of mind again.

As others already said stay low, have nothing incriminating on the premises, do NOT contact your landlord about anything regarding that and IF there is some sort of inquiry about potential "activities" (your past grow set-up) then just ask back: "What are you talking about?"

Just wanted to give you guys an update

Last week LEOs came knocking on the door, asking permission to enter my premises (no warrant needed where I live). Since I completely cleaned out all my stuff i invited them for a cup of coffee, maybe being a bit too snug i dont know.

Immediatly they went to the former grow-room, no doubt they knew what they were looking for. They didnt find anything except a pipe lying around and, they did not press charges and they were both very polite.

I exchanged my appartment moving to another place this weekend, i just dont feel comfortabel living here anymore, never the less growing.

New setup in a few weeks - new place new setup new landlord.

thank you for your support, i evidently did the right thing.
Best regards from the fish

No matter what you should be the ONLY PERSON with keys to your house/apt or grow.

I know they say don't change the locks and it can cause issues sometimes but it's damn sure better than coming home to find someone was in your house. Even worse, coming home and not knowing they were in your house. That's the worst case scenario.

Change the locks with a high security deadbolt that is pick-proof like a Medeco or Mul-T-Lock.

When you change the locks keep a spare key for it just in case there is an issue with the landlord and he demands it. You can say that someonee broke into your old apt/house and you don't trust regular cheap locks. Treat it as an upgrade for them you are paying for. Then after you have to give them a copy of the key just get it re-keyed right afterwards and if there is ever a problem after that just say something like "oh it must be a bad key" or "yeah my key has been giving me problems too, sorry you could'nt get in" and then repeat the re-key if necessary after a day or two. They can't snitch on what on they can't come in and see. (or steal) :joint:

Also, there should be multiple doors to get through to reach a grow. Don't rely on just the lock on your front door. Any bedroom or walk-in closet should definitely have a deadbolt as well.
