ww from seed

i germinated 7 seeds in a glass of water. one i damaged a bit and took it out after few days, one other has weaker root growths than others lets see how that turns out. i let the seedlings grow at least 0.5cm root, then i gently place them in the hydro near dripper holes. these are from regular seeds, not feminized, so i will have some males to take care of somehow. what do you guys think is the best thing to do in etola dripper/bubbler hydro? i've thought about making some seeds maybe so i'd have them ready for next grow if these turn out good, but i don't want all seed crop maybe just pollinate one bud if possible.
7/7 seeds germinated which was great result but two suffered a bit because of me 5 looking good and one showing some promise.

i put another 6 seeds goin, at the moment i have 5 seedlings in the first hydro, i'm gonna put another one up as the rest of the seeds germinate (hopefully).
toked: i got 2 dripper bubbler combos and i can fit two lights in the cabinet, i have 250w, and 2x 400w that i can use, not sure which i'm gonna put in there, last grows i've used 250+400w.

problem is what am i gonna do with males since these are regular seeds, i want maybe pollinate one bud, but maximise yield at the same time so i get enough smoke for the summer.

Nice one!
Next time I suggest you place the seeds in rockwool cubes before going to the hydro-stones (the roots are better protected in the first days...).

franco.gh: yeah i know its a weird habit heh well, i never seem to have rockwool cubes handy and on the other hand i like seeing them grow from seed to seedling straight in to the rocks. of course i must be extra careful when planting the seeds so they dont drop or i dont damage them too much..



all of the rest six seeds germinated eventually, they're all in seedling state now. 5 in the new hydro and one competing with the firstborns in the other hydro.



some mis-shaped leaves at first but they seem to be recovering with the latest leaves.



i'm on 18/6 and i have only 250w hps on now. seems there might be space to fit all three on at flowering. but i wonder if my electric system can take it ... i just got my ghe one part fertilizers that i've tried once before plus diamond nectar and topmax which i have never used before. i'm switching to ghe from bio nova, nothing really wrong with bio nova but i have been missing some potency i had before with ghe nutrients.

i'm having some problems with green algae (re-using hydro stones, didn't sterilise), what you recommend? i started with flushing with alkaline water and blocking light from algae with aluminum foil will those help?

also, if i wanna save electricity, do you recommend using less or more light during seedling stage? i'm pondering if i should switch to 400w or even more but will it be a waste at this point?

here's an update on this little project. i've been fighting algae with h2o2 and i'll keep using it every few days to keep roots in shape. growth has been quite slow at times, but it's getting better.
ec is still low 0.6mS

yeah another update on this experimental grow. day 3 bloom. lotsa preflowers appeared in 18/6 veg period, but no hairs visible yet and no sure males yet either. i built a bubbler where i'm gonna put cuttings once i see which are females. still not sure what i'm gonna do with the males.
if this grow blows up on my face i'll take cuttings from the mother plant when i get it going and start over again. i just want some smoke for the summer. as a backup plan i planted 4 lowryders in soil under 250w. now i've been smoking for two years with no real breaks so i guess i can go straight till then . well anyways here's a pic of what it looks like now.
