WTF, no roots, Cloning Problems, please help!

WTF, I've tried every method of cloning from a dys bubble cloner, Root to Jell cloning and regular rooting dirt with powder rooting solutions. I have only managed to successfully get one plant to root out of about 50 or 60 over the last year, What am I doing wrong???? I read all the different threads and watch buckets full of roots for everyone else but for some unknown reason mine just sit there for about 2 weeks and then wilt and die with no roots.

Any suggestions would be welcome

Thanks, Nickel

Hello,

skip the designer drugs and only use plain water or willow bark tea! It should be rooting within two weeks.

ive tried them all at one time or another, and by far the fastest healthy roots iv got were from my diy aero cloner, it pops everything even hard strains. just plain water and put em in, about 5 days i see roots, 10 or so they go in the dirt. i have put a 4ft light over them now, and the clones are as healthy as can be. :joint: good luck to you

Most people that have problems usually overwater the medium. If you follow the principles in my thread and be patient you will get the hang of it. What are you using for medium, light and humidity dome?

Bubbler= the shit, literally!! Roots in 10 days, unless you have some stubborn rooters. Plain water that sat out 24 hour to dechlorinate , PH 5.8,water temp around 78-80 degrees and a timer, on 30 off 30. An old school hydro vet showed me this and I have doing the 30 on 30 off ever since.... Thats just my method.... Different strokes....well ya know...

Good luck!!!

Wow you sound just like me, I also tried all the methods and struggled to get a single clone going. What works best for me is rooting powder and oasis cubes.

BUT the biggest thing I found that made a difference in rooting, rotting or stasis (damn things don't die, but won't root either) is TEMPERATURE.

I'm not really talking room temperature, I'm talking temperature of the medium in which you are trying to root. If the water is too cold, the roots won't form. if it is too warm, your plant will rot.

If it is cool where you are, try using a seedling mat (put a towel betwen it and the clone container).

If it is hot where you are, try putting the clones in a cooler, moister area (use a humidity dome).

Take JJ Scorpio's advise , I was having poor results at 1st. Pay extra attention to keeping the temps & humidity right & stable. It greatly improved my success rate.

Thanks for all the replies. JJ, I think I will try your method, I was using Jiffy Mix Growing and seed starting mix, it says A soil less growing mix good for starting all seeds and rooting cuttings. It is very light weight and has good drainage. I have them under 2, 40 W fluorescent shop lights, and I have a heating pad under a humidity dome. I do think you may be on to something about over watering the medium and it doesn't seem to dry out very fast after its too wet.

I cannot understand why my bubble cloner didn't work, I thought it was going to be the saviour of my problems but had no luck with it either, (may be water temp was the problem). It looked like a fail proof method but not for me.

Then I found these clear jell to root things this spring and thought I couldn't fail with them, but I was wrong.

I will succeed at this, I think, I just have to keep trying ,even though I am getting tired of failing.

Thanks again

You need to get rid of one of the shop lights. 40 watts is more than enough.

If you use the rapid rooters, they should be just wet enough to where you get a drip of water if you squeeze the bottoms. To much water in the medium does them in. If they get to dry, add a half dozen drops of water from an eyedropper. If you read my thread in the sticky, and follow it you will get clones to root.
