The new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll produced a surprising answer. Sugar. When Americans were asked their opinion on the most harmful of four substances, tobacco (49%) and alcohol (24%) came in first and second place, followed by sugar (15%) and marijuana. Only 8% said marijuana was the most harmful substance.

In another good sign for the cannabis industry, young adults in the poll said they are following the news about states legalizing marijuana more than news about Obamacare, the Ukraine or same-sex marriage.
The poll found 57% of adults between 18 and 35 years old have “seen, read or heard a lot” of news about marijuana, compared to 44% who were well-informed about Obamacare, 39% about Russia sending troops into the Ukraine and 34% about courts overturning bans on gay marriage.
