wrapping hood exhaust fan in insulation from insulated ducting?

got a 10" max fan mounted in the attic sucking the heat from 6 1k hoods (blowing out of the roof), using all insulated ducting.

i pulled each end of the insulation on the ducting up over the fan, so it's basically part of the ducting now. trying to cut down as much noise as possible.

problem? haven't fired it up yet, don't know what kind of heat these fans can take. i can always put another max fan on the other end to keep the velocity up.

heat of the attic + heat of the bulbs might be a little much, especially if you have many twists and turns in your duct or a really long run.

why not put the fan in the grow room blowing into the hoods? fan stays cool and you are less likely to exhaust unfiltered stank outside when the hoods are under positive pressure.

the way you propose doing it you have the hoods under negative pressure and that is begging to pull in stinky air from the room. my 2 cents, good luck!

we're getting into winter so the attic will be cold, even freezing at night (attic in a garage). i could spend more time this winter figuring out a better system before spring, as long as the house doesn't burn down from this setup

i would go the other way to begin with but space is a big problem for me, so a single exhaust fan would be ideal. smell isn't a problem, but the room is sealed with co2 so any major leaks sucking co2 out would be lame

you could keep the fan in the attic and run duct both ways, cold air down through the hood and back up and outside.

You will be fine. I got an 8" cooling 6 1k's. Saw your pump board for your irrigation system on the blumat thread. Shit is nice. Pretty much what I am looking to set up. What size pump are you running on that thing?
