And so if you had no choice but to select one:

would you rather know how you were going to die, or when you're going to die?

peculiar discussions may prevail....... :dunno:

I selected when, and so wtf, if I were to find myself feeling well 30 days or so prior to my departure time I might be inclined to try a few risky things, given my already infirmed condition that is.

If you knew WHEN, at least you would have time to arrange your affairs, and plan a 'Going Away Party'..

If you knew HOW....and say it was in a car accident, then naturally you would avoid riding in or being around cars for as long as is possible.

I'd be afraid the 'how' might be a heart attack, then every minute would pass like a lifetime, until of course the stress became too much; 'when' is better for me, I live alone & would want to get my dog & goldfish in safe hands, I already have a will made out.

I imagine knowing 'how' allows you to pretty much safely say, "Hey! hold my beer and watch this..." if you're not partaking in your particular area of risk or, "Go ahead, take your best aim, betcha you'll miss!"

If i had access to this info it would drive me mad. I would prefer not to know either. But if I had to choose, I guess when would make me less crazy.

I prefer to know how. Then it depends if i like the how. Say, i do believe that being hit by lightning or a bomb or something very quick would be the best way to die, specially if you don't know when will that happen. Then again, if it'd be after a degenerating painful long illness, i'd start taking paliatives like if there's not a tomorrow at first symptom, and assisted death is also on the menu in more and more clinics. No need of wasting time and money in fancy chemotherapies and shit.
Knowing "when" would be like saying "today", because it'd start the countdown. As for the advantage of leaving my things in order... my relatives better take good care of my animals, or else i'll curse them from the grave. The rest of the things left behind i don't give a fuck, they could burn that for all i care. So, easy choice.

I would rather know when. That way I could tie up some loose ends and say goodbyes.

Just think if you chose how and you got answer like banana peels or marbles...

On the upside of how, if it's a car crash you can stay in the mountains never to come down and be immortal.

I died once already (heart stopped from blood loss) when I was 20, and it was kinda cool. I thought that life was just repetition to serve this chunk of meat called a body, and then I was free of it all, and could just float in some void in perpetuity....

Then I was reserected by the para-medics, and had to come back down/up to earth again.
Kinda put a damper on my afterlife experience.
