Would this work for cloning?

I have 2 Ott Lite 4 foot tubes (40watt,2200 lumens, 5000k -6000k). Would it be possible to use 1 tube for cloning, then after they root use both tubes to keep them alive for a couple weeks? Looked at all the threads and used the search, but can't find any mention of these lights. Any suggestions?

a little too much light for clones, unless you kept it like 4 feet away from the tops.

for clones a 23 watt cfl is PLENTY = 1500 lumens

good for "holding" clones till ready for planting

but if that's what ya got, it'll work, just keep it 3-4 feet away from the tops for the fresh clones.

It's not as though the tubes will burn anything. They're barely any stronger than a CFL.
You can hang high or place something solid between the lamp and cuts (say a sheet of cardboard) to block all direct light.

I'd be more worried about vegging with 80 watts. Beware of weak, hyper stretched stems. eep ,the lamp as close as possible and/or get more watts on them as well.
