Would anyone like a HOW TO on:

Would anyone like a simple, thorough How to on making a 240V lighting controller with parts from the Depot for < $50 that replicate the CAP lighting controllers @ $200

OF NOTE: Cap controllers need another plug and timer to run them where as the Home Depot ones come with 240V timers on the Box so you do not need another outlet AND timer.

These Home made boxes are rated capable of running 4 X 1000W ballasts on 240V... Hard wired to a 30A 240V circuit, even though It only draws 20A 240V with 4 lights on... need extra amperage on circuit for lighting bulbs and being more that 10% lower than rating (cannot run 20A lights on 20A circuit)

I will make the DIY in a way that even a non electrician should be able to do this worry free. connecting 6 wires in a couple places and buying the right equipment.

SO, making one of these:

Yourself so it is more like this:

other two plugs on other side of opened box

So, anyone think they want this one?

using a the most shitty, cheap and crappy design on the market to base your design on sounds like poor judgement to me.

A+ for the effort, but CAP just plain sucks balls and is a fucking piece of shit.

I think the best thing to do is to read up on electrical safety and how electricity works.

Why not take the time to DIY something safe, and worth while.

contactor with a 120v coil, 120v thermostat for high heat shut down, breakers for the lights, etc etc.

i have a good enough grasp in electricity, thanks.

everyone here knows im normally level headed. I would never suggest something i wouldnt consider safe for myself and my family.

I didnt mean cap specifically meaning wire for wire the same thing as a cap controller, but rather achieving the same thing as a store bought 240 timer without needing an additional 120 plug and timer.

keep your opinion of CAP to yourself. I am safe. you suck balls

you suck balls

cap fucking blows, its not safe, NO ETL, UL, or CSA approval.

what makes you think that copying a shitty product is such a good idea?

a real person with any knowledge of any electrical code or safety would MAKE THEIR OWN DESIGN NOT BEING A LAZY FUCKING LOSER AND STEAL A FIRE STARTING, UNSAFE DESIGN!!!

you dont know fuck all buddy,,you are just a copy cat, and a copy cat of SHIT!!!

whoa, pretty clean...wish to elaborate?

Not sure if you were referring to the op or me. I just used one of these: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 although mine looks a little different. I kind of think that mine might have been labeled for a hot tub or something. It is then just wired according to the directions. Mine is only wired for 120v since I already had 120v cords for my ballasts and I'm only running 600w x 3 in the flowering room. If you were refering to the op I will step aside now. :tiphat:

for the second time, i did not reverse engineer the cap product a all... nor did i open the cap box to wire the same way as they did... i did not steal their design as it all came from head... just saying heres a 240V timer home made...

i do understand that cap isnt the best thing out there... i was offering a home solution LIKE it... NOT IT IT... sheesh

i will do the build for y'alls tomorrow

I think everybody else knows what you mean. You're showing a tutorial of how to build 240V timer...... the reference of CAP was just that a REFERENCE... not sure why this thread is getting so heated..

BUT, hell yeah, show that shit!!!!! Because the good thing, is I'm sure you'll be showing us how to build a safe one, so that people don't have to buy UNSAFE ones, like CAP, as Red has so obviously pointed out.
