Workarounds!

Yes upgrades have growing pains... Fortunately most are intuitive if you have been around for 20+ yrs. This upgrade unfortunately doesn't meet the/that mark. Therefore if you have found work arounds to different issues, please post them here, so we can all benifit e.g:

• problem issue; and
• remedy.

Posting pictures for those who cannot currently.

My workaround was to use catbox image hosting. It seems to me to be more private/secure than most of the mainstream options.
When using a url to input directly into your message, uncheck the box right below the url line. Also, resize the image in that area or else it will be huge! I found 800 x whatever is equivalent works well.

The new "autosave" "feature" is pretty much just a renamed keylogger.
The workaround for sites that use keyloggers is to do all your text entry in a different application and then copy from there when you're ready to post, but thats only if you think you might type something that you don't want anyone eventually seeing.
If you don't have that problem then the workaround for sites that use keyloggers is to type horrible nasty messages about the website operators into your text window and then erase it. They'll see what you're typing if they're reading the logs and they'll tip that off if they take any action over the wicked insults you're posting and then erasing about them. Thats a good way to test and see if the existence of logs is being abused yet.

As has already been pointed out, if you're going to post your message to the forum anyway then whether it's saved as you write it or when you press submit the outcome is the same. The content you're entering into the input field is being saved to a / the database. The only difference between auto save and clicking submit is that the autosave data is scrubbed after a period of time.

If you're concerned about the auto save feature then by all means type up your message in notepad and paste it in. Just don't see what you think you're protecting yourself from by doing that if you're going to post it anyway.

To everybody, the autosave is NOT a keylogger, it's just there to save partially submitted posts in case there's issue when making a submission or you timeout.

TBF it is annoying when you write a long post and then lose it when you press reply.... so that autosave feature sounds good to me.

So my suggestion is to get the stylebot extension installed on your browser.

You can see in the before and after picture that I got rid of a lot of empty space and features I did not care for, I still haven't moved the "Go to last post" link to the thread title.. All the modifications are within the thread list, this is the only annoyance I have with the new design, you can only see a few threads without scrolling compared to the old design

Auto save data is NOT key logging, it's not doing anything that inserting a post or submitting a private message does.
