wisco61's 2008 DWC CFL SOG grow +

Finally got my hands on a digi camera so I figured I would start a grow log. I'm a newbie to growing still, but not a complete one.

Currently, I have a bagseed clone grow going from a mother that I have been experimenting with/abusing. I took these clones 3 weeks ago, then 3 days ago, I chopped the bejesus out of her. Basically I want to see what she can come back from and how long it takes. Plus I figure if she does make it back, she'll have at least 30 clone sites to pull from, which might be a concern with spring right around the corner!! Anyways, here she is, all pissed off and naked like

I put 4 clones in a 14 gal tub into 12/12 as soon as I saw fishbone roots. That was about 10 days ago. They are under 8 23w CFLs with 50/50 veg/flower nutes. I'm gonna change out the res to full flower nutes in a few days I think.

I put another clone in a 5 gal bucket DWC a day before the other 4 (about Jan 10th). She has been vegging since then, and has been topped once one week ago. She froze like a deer in headlights when I topped her, but recently started growing again, but now with 2 tops! I'll veg her probably 2 more weeks, then send her into flower. Although I am considering topping her again on each new growth tip, in which case it would probably be an additional week or two vegging.

Here is a shot of the "cola" from a Lowryder2 I recently harvested. It was in a tiny pot and had a rough life, but damn it gets my stoned. Tis very nice chilling with a bowl of some dank bud I grew myself.

Finally, I started some seeds I ordered online. Started 5 White Lady seeds and 5 Columbia Red Haze. 3 of each have sprouted, shown roots through starter plugs and been put into soil. I hope to find a mother of each strain to work with, /fingers crossed.

The clone in the 5 gal bucket has started to kick it back in, can really see the 2 tops as a result of the topping. I think i will let 3-4 nodes grow on them then top again.

The 4 in the rubbermaid are doing good, 12 days or so into flower, and really growing fast and starting to show a lot of hairs.

Thats it for now, the seedlings are going good but not much change. Maybe next week I'll see whats up.

Thanks eatfajitas!

Just a little update

All of the original clones are now in 12/12. I added the single 5 gal topped plant Jan 30th. I topped it again on the 29th so it should have 4 growth tips now. Heres hoping she shoots up like her sisters in the Rubbermade have!

An overall shot of the flower closet

Buds are starting to form on the 4 in the 14 gal tub, and they seemed to have stopped stretching. Ended up at about 20" which is more than I figured but it should be ok. I trimmed all the growth on the bottom 6" on 2 of them, trimmed the fan leaves off the bottom 6" of another, and left the last one untouched. We shall see which works the best

Closeup of a bud forming

My mother plant has really bounced back. I could easily pull 10 clones off her, but I'm gonna let her grow till spring, and plant a metric ass ton of her clones outside.

side and top shot of her

Finally, my seedlings are coming along nicely. Ended up with 3 White Ladys and 3 Columbian Red Haze. I will put them into 12/12 on Weds to sex them I think. Going to leave the Haze in there, but will pull the Ladies out to reveg and make into mother(s).

Thanks for stopping by Daze!

She is a beast. Clones really well too. Once the garden depts around here open up (starting to get set up, they had the seed starting stuff out at Fleet, yay spring!!) I'm gonna trim back her root ball and transplant into some nice organic soil. I might flower her out then, we shall see what my space situation is.

Well i'll definitely be stopping by later to see how your grow is coming along. You ever start with Roto Rooters? Talk about being beast. They are.

Keep up the good work Wisco !!

Well, the only time I used Roto-Rooter was when the shitter got clogged at work :p, but if u mean Rapid Rooters I use something similar. Sun Leaves Starter Plugs are pretty much the same thing I think, and that is what my "local" hydro store stocks, and they do work really well.

I put a bunch of clones in them in a DYI bubble cloner and they had like 10 inch long roots in about 10 days. Far superior to the rockwool cubes I tried using previously, both in ease of use and performance.

Canopy of the 4 plant sog, first one Jan 23rd, second Feb 4th. I think next round I will run 2 of these tubs, they seem to work well for my purposes

Nice looking grow from the fist pic I was thinking what is he doing to that poor plant! But after your updates I can see you know exactly what you’re doing and doing it well. How many and what size CFLs are you using those little lights seem to have lot of poetical.

The lights above the Rubbermaid are 8x23w CFLs in a 4 bulb bathroom fixture with Y-splitters. I have Mylar on the walls and on a DIY reflector above the bulbs so it seems to give a good amount of light for the wattage.

[4 clones in rubbermade 32 days into 12/12 are looking good. Starting to fill out nicely.
1 clone in 5 gal bucket 15 days in 12/12 doing ok. Recovering from root rot and topping still, but she is starting to look stronger.

3 White Lady seedlings and 3 Columbian Red Haze seedlings 8th day in 12/12 have not shown sex yet but otherwise are looking good.

Hey wisco61, Looking nice and green in there, some healthy plants you've got and nice DWC'ing it looks like you're in for some mighty fine ladies. Definitely looks like you've got yourself a trifoliar white lady, hope it is a lady :) Looked around for some info on your strains White Lady and Columbia Red Haze, but didn't find much, who's the breeder?

Keep it green :rasta:

Thanks GoneGrowing, here is a little info on the strains. I got them from dope-seeds, the CRH was a freebie and I just kind of randomly picked the WL. Anyways:

White lady is a compact plant with an abundance of crystals. Few leaves makes this plant easy to manicure. With a fresh taste and an extremely high level of thc this strain is popular among growers and blowers.

Flowering time: 55-60 days
Inside cultivation
Sativa/Indica mix
Yield: app.400 grams per square meter

o Genetics: Neville's Haze x Colombian Red (Punta Roja)
o AKA: Columbian rojo Haze
o Variety: Mostly sativa (80%)
o Type: Hybrid
o Harvest Date: November
o Flowering Period: 12-14 weeks
o THC Content: 20%
o No. of seeds Per Packet: 10
o Characteristics: Minty Fresh Sativa flavout

Colombian Rojo Haze is an excellent sativa hybrid cross between a Neville's Haze mother and a Colombian Red father. Neville's Haze (the mother) is a stong pine flavoured long leafed 75% sativa strain - a hybrid cross of Original Haze with a quarter Northern Lights. The resulting strain being a heavier budder than true Haze strains but with strong Haze cerebral effect. It is named after its renowned creator Neville - one of the pioneers of commercial cannabis seed breeding programmes.

For many years Colombia was not only famous for its export of cocaine to the US and the rest of the world, but also for its growing marijuana trade and export. Traffickers were looking for new areas to pick up high quality marijuana after the authorities were catching on quickly in Mexico, using paraquat and other underhand measures to stop growers and trafickers at any cost. Colombia was fortunate to have some of the most popular and most potent landrace strains e.g. Colombian Gold, Columbian Red (or Punta Roja). It is thought that Columbian Gold originated in the highlands of Colombia whilst Colombian Red originated in lower areas. Colombian Red has a brownish-red flair on the edges of the leaves with red highlights bringing attention to its buds.

Colombian Rojo Haze is an hybrid cross of Neville's Haze with Columbian Red - it is 80% sativa and flowers in 12-14 weeks. A lengthy time but like most Haze strains the finished bud is of the highest quality. It is a strong plant that can be easily bent indoor to adapt to low ceiling rooms. It will grow to 1.5 metres in 7.5 litre pots with a short vegetative period.

Anyways, the WL showed sex, 2 girls and one boy. The trifoliar was the boy as i kind of expected, but the other 2 are healthy girls who went back into veg to grow a bit more before I take some clones and begin the mother choosing process. I transplanted them into 1 gallon grow bags, damn those hold a lot of dirt!

The 3 CRH haven't shown conclusively yet, but I have an inkling 2 of them are girls. If they are I'll transplant into 3 gallon grow bags and those will stay in 12/12.

I put my 8 clones of the bagseed mother into their DWC tub this morning and put immediately into 12/12. Kind of an experiement to see what happens when they are put in so young. Anyways should be interesting to see where they end up. I'm hoping 12"-16" final height with a fairly even canopy, but we shall see.

Thats it for now. I need to do some rearranging of my flower closet, had to take down my exhaust fan to make room for another light, thankfully its quite cold out so no exhaust is needed atm.

The 3 CRHs all showed sex this morning, all 3 are girls :jump: I need to get them transplanted into 3 gallon grow bags, but I have to go buy some more dirt first. I feel like such a tool buying a big ass bag of dirt when there is like 3 feet of snow outside, but hey, its for the doobie! I guess I didn't expect to be growing out 3 big sativas with a 12-14 week flowering period but alas. I think I will need to change my veg closet into a second flower closet, but it is a small price to pay for harvesting 3 big sativas worth of bud right at the beginning of summer :muahaha: :joint: So this is their 17th day in 12/12, if I had a magnifying glass they probably would have shown on the 14th or 15th day.

I can't take a picture worth a damn of my 4 bagseed clones 41 days into 12/12, but they look better than this I assure you.

Finally made it to the store for some soil today. Got a 2 cu ft bag of Miracle Grow Organic for $8. I added about 20% perlite to it and transplanted the CRHs into their new homes, 3 gallon grow bags. Here they are in their new home, my new flower closet.

The old one was just getting too crowded, so now I have 2 flower closets, one 42"x42"x6' and one 42"x36"x5'.

Since I changed the veg closet to a second flower closet I had to make something for veg. So I built a 4'x4'x'2' cabinet out of 2x2s and 1x4s. I had the black/white poly, velcro, and lights already so the grand total with tax was $8.37. Yay for DIY. Thats my bagseed mother and 2 WL girls plus the 1 WL male that I decapitated. I figure with all the room I may as well keep a male around.

The Miracle Grow Organic seems like decent soil, but I actually prefer this other stuff I got a bit ago. It has more perlite added to it so I can use it right out of the bag where I had to cut the MG with about 20% perlite. Anyways they are about the same price so I think I will go with the Schultz from now on.

I'm thinking of buying a 400w HPS for my new flower closet. So it would be a 400w in a 42"x42"x6' space. I think I will mod a Stanley blower for the exhaust and try to not use a cool tube or the such. Does anyone have experience with this light? Can't beat $99 if its decent at all.
