wiring my socket

bought a ballat the socket was not wired so now I srewed the green wiire to the junction box have ill wire white to white black to black. am I doin this right finnaly 1 k of light

The wiring is correct, but you need to make sure that the extension cord you cut up for the cordset is heavy duty enough. Alot of those orange ones are dinky 18 gauge wire and they'll overheat if you're running a 1k through them. I had a 16 gauge cord stick to the sidewalk once from running 2k of halogens through it (not for growing of course).

Question: If you are attaching a socket to a cooltube, do you jus clip the green ground to any metal part of the cooltube construction? Like the metal strip that the socket screw into?

My cool tube had a hole in the bottom of the bracket that the socket screws to that is just for the ground. Add a ring terminator on the end of the ground wire and screw it on securely.
