wireless webcams for grow room?

Anyone use a wireless camera for monitoring their grow room when on small trips or out for the night? I have thought about if only my cat had a cell phone, she could text me a thumbs up whenever i got paranoid ...

but that won't work cause she doesn't have a moveable thumb.

so then I thought about a wireless Wifi network camera that I could view on my iPhone.

I wonder if this is smart or dumb. you can have a couple... was thinking one for the main area of house ( in case you see pigs sitting on ur couch)

and one for the lung area of grow room ( fire monitor / general peace of mind)

but what about the network these record to? safe? who cares if some random IT person sees my 4k grow. could be medical (not)

you can setup motion detecter to email you if it gets triggered...

I have a d-link. It's got an easy iPhone app. It doesn't record anything but it has the email motion alert. I think it was $100 at radio shack.

Well i grow outdoors but yeah i thought about like a wireless trail cam

alas most are 150+ bucks which is way too much for my blood

for you though if its only for a few days you can get a cheap ipod and face time with it but idk might be to complicated

Also interested in the subject, I would like to outfit my whole property with cams. Any info would be great!

the only thing about broadcasting a cameras signal over the net is.. anyone with computer knowledge could get into that and watch what your watching...

so basically... you might get some nerd.. that finds your grow on the internet.. with your IP address.. and he could then locate the grow...

I say.. if you need cameras. don't put them in the grow room.. but around the house.. and outside the grow room.. and have it go to your phone..

unless your worried about fire more then robbery.. but then at that case.. just get a overhead fire extinguisher

friend of mine.. uses an old cell phone.. setup to WIFI.. the phones in his grow room plugged into the wall to stay charged.. and is always facetiming with a computer.. that is recording it all.

Check out Tenvis IP cam's on eBay. I picked two up for like $54, and for the price exactly what is needed, even has DDNS service hard coded in them to work with DNS services to route outside of your home internet.

- Pan tilt, Horizontal 340°, Vertical 90°
- 2-way audio, speak and hear
- 32 feet Night Vision
- 9 Channels in the same time

I grabbed a D-Link cam that has wifi & ethernet port, planning a grow with it wired. Comes with software to view on internet. Decent, but I might put a sunglass lens on it to compensate for hps glare.

Mine was $50 on sale
