Hey guys,

im looking into these wireless gsm alarms that you put a sim card in and is connected to a door sensor, room sensor and smoke alarm. its basically a alarm system that sends you a text or calls you if there is a break in or a fire .

could anyone recommend one as there seems to be loads available.

Thanks.

That's hard to do since we don't know what kind of system you are looking for regarding future expansion, features, pricing etc. blah blah....

This sounded interesting, so I googled it:

A range of Wireless Alarm Systems utilising GSM mobile phone technology to automatically alert keyholders of Alarm Activation. Ideal for use in properties where it may not be convenient to connect to a land-line and for properties that are sometimes unattended, such as: second homes, homes abroad, caravans, boats, properites under construction or for holiday periods.

For a detached grow "shed in the back yard" Looks promising! And for a home, with an outdoor electric box..a pretty cool, back up plan.

I have one & it's perfect... you carry a key fob, to activate/deactivate, entering & leaving the property... if you are out & have forgotten to set the alarm, you can activate/deactivate the alarm on your mobile phone via txt msg... when the alarm is triggered, it will txt you informing you of what zone has been activated... my alarm has no outside siren as I don't want any neighbours alerted or peeking in if something did happen or false alarm, It will only alert me, via txt... so I can quickly & quietly get the boyz round :O)
My alarm is an Infinite Prime package with no external bell, only a dummy box. http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Manufacturers/ESP/ESP_InfinitePrime/index.html

What do they have available in the USA similar to this? I know about zwave and stuff but that connects to your wireless network.

Very interested in this as well.

I essentially want an ADT type system, but without the subscription and 3rd party/calling of the police.

Use to use a land line motion dialer, but refuse to have a land line.
