OK, a 12 volt, 4000 watt amp is going to draw ~335 amps. To say a 12volt adaptor is going to cut it is well, wrong. You'll need to purchase an ac/dc converter big enough to handle that kind of load, and that will run you several thousand dollars. You could also use a battery from a car with a trickle charger on it, but I do not recomend this at all, as it's a great way to start a fire.pothead6 said:dude i love crutch field they are soo oooo awsome ive been googling the shit outa this idea i plan on using a 4000 watt amp heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-LEGACY-4000...yZ39732QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD10VQQcmdZViewItem

Not at all. Capcaitors store energy for instantaneous use, and replace it almost as quickly. And anyone who knows car audio well will tell you that a capacitor is just a bandaid to a poor electrical system.pothead6 said:what about with that capaciter wouldnt that work?
No. A capacitor would not have saved your alternator. You had/have a poor charging system in your car. That's what caused your alternator to fail. The person who told you that a cap would have saved it is trying to sell you a capacitor.rkrone said:a capicitor would have saved my alternator, even though my wiring was tight is still shit the bed
