So I made a bunch of ice wax/bubble hash recently. After drying out quite a bit it has become difficult to grab with my skilletool, the honebun. They didn't have the one I wanted last time I visited the smoke shop. I love looking at pictures of nice shatter and my curiosity got the best of me so I put some in the oven in a pyrex to see what would happen hoping I could use it with my honeybun tool easier. It came out like this. Super sexy. Much easier to work with.

After 20 or so minutes @ 175 f. Old crappy oven, temperature accuracy unknown. I could not get any melting to happen below 175 f.
It dabs nice but I got to thinking. Could I further refine my hash and winterize this to remove the tiny amounts of plant matter, waxes and lipids for a cleaner toke? or is this just a silly dumb idea? I know, I know. I'm losing terps blah blah blah. I don't really care to be honest. I would rather boil off sacrifice some terps than smoke waxy membrane if I had the choice. I have respiratory problems. I used to vaporize only and now I have been loving dabbing this ice hash.... and I don't want to fuck with butane. I read too many BHO explosion horror stories and I have a limited amount of privacy outdoors. I feel like an ethanol wash at 2 am could much more ninja and safe than blasting butane in my backyard with a 4 ft high fence and 2 story buildings surrounding.
So this leaves me with a few questions.
1. Is ethanol less dangerous to work with than butane? Obviously I need to do more research on the safety. links/tips appreciated.
2. Does ethanol wash/winterization require vacuum purge?
3. Should I experiment and report back to the community?
