Winter Air intake ??

Hey everyone

I've run into a situation of analysis paralysis ... I'm rocking a bedroom and that is connected to my kitchen ... I have air cooled reflectors but the only place I can think to pull cool air from is the bedroom window and considering here in the northeast of the US the temps are going to drop to below zero on some nights...

I'm guessing this EXTREME cold will effect the bulbs in a negative way ... Any idea of how I could somehow warm up the this air from the window before pulling it into the vortex fan and pushing it over the hot bulbs to remove the heat ??

thanks

Not sure the size of your grow, but why not just pull from the bedroom since the temps will be 70 or so ??? Or put a Y duct and pull from both? You could experiment using a smaller duct to pull from the outside and a larger pulling from inside.

Yeah, kinda tough for us here.........not knowing the layout of yur house & all. Good idea from greenisgold there.
What's above the ceiling in your proposed grow room/bedroom? If it's an attic you might be able to pull some slightly warmer air from there & vent to the bedroom thus allowing your lights to contribute to the heating of your house.
Thing is.......if you pull from the window, folks may see that & wonder what' goin on.

in the winter i use an intake coming in from outside.
as long as the ducting for the intake is long enough that no moisture gets in, it shouldnt be a problem.
but then again, i use cool tubes.
the winter can def keep your grow cool in the NE

no, cold air should not be your concern. Basically, you can think of it like this, there simply isn't enough "density" in the air to cool the bulb down fast enough to cause any damage.

Moisture might be a concern if the suction is high and it is snowing outside...sucking in snow..but with proper design this is easily avoided

Install a dryer vent outside and add some filter material inline. I'm curious wouldnt it be easier to just scrap the aircooled hood over winter and just use cold air from outside to cool the room??? I'm sure with a circulating fan it should keep things kool enough. Its just a thought i might just be stoned.
