I just use foil tape and the black plasic sheeting available at the home depot in the paint dept, you're gonna have to black out everywhere around the unit, cut to fit.

What I do...

Stick your AC in the window and hang blinds against the glass. Cover the entire inside of the window with Panda film and staple it down tight. Cut an X in the panda across the middle of the AC (leaving an inch or two uncut near the corners) and stretch the panda around the face of the AC. Trim off the excess panda and use foil backed tape to seal it to the AC - you're done.

If you're anal about insulation properties of the window, you can hang a blanket on the inside of the blinds to help fill in the air space.

mtf be careful of condensation dripping on the ground, k9 gets a whiff of it and its lights out, also be careful of rippers kicking it in

O yea, dont forget the blinds lol,I've found even with dehumidification, the metal ones eventually want to warp up exposing the black plastic behind it.It's best to use faux wood or real wooden venetian blinds.

The condensate doesn't have any smell here...but thanks for looking out for me :D

SB - you ever tried plastic mini-blinds? I've never noticed any condensation in the window even when the room is blazing at 90 and it's 30 outside...
