WINDOW A/C, NO SUPPLEMENTAL CO2 YET... DO I EXHAUST?

Hey Y'all,

I actually started building my room yesterday. Seems I've spent a fortune and haven't even gotten a single seed started! I've decided to throw a 10k btu window banger in for now. I'm not running a lot of lights right off and the window unit should hold me until my wattage increases and I need more cooling.

My question is... am I able to adequately supplement with co2 with this type of unit? I'm not ready to buy co2 equipment, but will I achieve an actual "sealed room" using one of these window a/c's? Until I can get the co2 equipment, I would just run a small fan exhausting the room from the opposite side of the room as the window a/c, even when the a/c is running (?) to pull fresh air through too. Is this right? Will the window unit act as a passive intake or do I have to have a different passive intake from the window area?

The answer to that question will put my anxiety to bed. I know I need some air exchange if I don't supplement with co2. And I know it's going to get too hot here to "not" use a/c. Improper ventilation WILL CAUSE MY GROW TO SUFFER, and I can't have that.

So how do I achieve proper ventilation using a casement window a/c "without" supplemental co2? That is the ultimate question.

Thanks in advance y'all!

If the AC has a louver to allow some outside air in, you're all set. If not, don't seal up the window opening airtight until you get some co2 equipment in there.

Thanks Bababooie. The a/c unit does have a lever that allows fresh air exchange. I wanted to be sure it's "okay" to pull through the unit for my fresh air exchange.

My Sentinel CHHC will tell me what the ambient co2 levels are and I'll just exhaust enough to maintain that level until I get through the first grow. I'll do a tank system before summer if all goes well.

Is anyone actually running their ventilation like this? Window a/c "without" supplemental co2. What's your experience like?

I thought I'd jump in here once more to direct folks to the actual build that I had been thinking of doing when I started this thread. I'm so glad I stopped in because...

I was wondering about where I'd draw my "fresh" air in from. Totally forgot about my last post. Ha! I'm gonna try this "fresh air" vent thing with my filter--->exhaust fan "before" cutting the f'ing hole in the door! If it works, I'll have saved a shitload of aggravation!
