A masterpiece of comedic irony, or a thespian atrocity? Since I missed the 70's (damnit) and do not either love or hate Shatner, my feelings on this clip are mixed. I'm not quite ready to give it my usual "so bad, it's good" stamp of entertainment approval.

It might be constructive to watch this lit and unlit, and note the differences in how you react and what you notice. One guy pointed out that it's a shame there aren't any crowd reactions until the strange, forced applause at the end. Go ahead and be that crowd for a second, and post what you were thinking here.

If this was even remotely trying to be "good", it easily ranks as one of the most awful things I've ever seen. It turns out my sense of humor might have a "low end" limit I wasn't fully aware of. And trust me, I'll laugh at damn near anything.

My old boss, who was just a couple of years older than I am, had never seen this. The first time he saw Stewie from the Family Guy do it, he thought it was an original piece for the show. He was absolutely floored when I showed him the original Bill Shatner piece.

Which is absolutely brilliant.

Rock-it-man...

Stewie on Family Guy did a great spoof of it.

Shatner used to be a load, now he knows he's a joke, and plays along.

On behalf of all Canadians - I'm sorry for Bill Shatner, Celine Dion and Brian Adams.

And Alan Thicke...

And Stephen "I've just gotta goose-step" Harper

I saw William Shatner in my work the other day. He sat down with some blonde lady, and they had lunch. After i bussed his table i had a seat in his chair just to know what it feels like. Haha, it was a trip when we saw his AmEx card said WILLIAM SHATNER. He had on Gucci sunglasses

Canada, first off and foremost I forgive you for William Shatner. You gave us Rush, and for that I'll forget about Celine Dione and The 'Rocket Man'...however that whole fries with gravy on em...that's gonna take some time.

Oh, poutine...

That's a french-canadian thing, and it has tons of greasy cheese and gravy. I'm not a huge fan of that - but fries with just gravy is delish...

Gretzky. Pam Anderson. Every good hockey player of the past 100 yrs (pretty much). Our west coast is the biggest supplier of high grade mj in the world. Stoner snowboarders with olympic gold medals.

Mounties. Niagara Falls (the big nice looking part, anyway). Newfies.
