Will topping delay the onset of preflowers?

Hey guys, I've got 6 sour diesel IBLs that are currently in week four of veg. They're growing a bit wild though and need of some training, ideally a top as I intend on scrogging the females. They haven't shown sex properly yet though, except one i'm pretty sure is a male, so I was just wondering if topping will slow the preflowering process down at all?

it will delay preflowering/flowering - because the flowering hormones are more concentrated in the tips - so any material you remove will remove some of those hormones.

that said, if you need to top then you are better off doing so - if you can get away with lst/training then do that instead.

the other thing that can delay flowering/sexing a bit is repotting. if possible then wait till they have shown before you repot them as plants that are slightly root restricted will strat flowering a bit faster - but again, its not worth letting the plant get severely rootbound and unhealthy for the small advantage it gives.

when you get more exoerienced then you can time topping and repotting so that it helps rather than hinders the process of sexing the plants. i try to top early, then repot about a week after and a week or so before flipping the lights to sex them.

Interesting you say that regarding repotting, my last batch (that were all males >.<) I put straight into big pots, whilst my current batch I put into smaller pots for two or so weeks then potted up after that (before they showed sex). I was convinced this current batch showed sex a lot slower than the previous, but told myself I was just being impatient. After hearing that though I might well have been right after all!

All the males have shown though, and got one female - just waiting on the last two unknowns atm which I expect will be female as they're taking so long to show!
