do it right the first time and never have to worry again..

do it right the first time and never have to worry again..

the home exhaust fans have their uses, just not for this..

also stick to companies that SPECIFICALLY make HVAC.

personal favorite fan company is fantech, many here suggest a DAYTON BLOWER for carbon filtering applications - tried and true. Bottom Line.

These are available at such online outfits as www.teksupply.com (aka: www.farmtek.com), www.grainger.com, etc etc etc

If it's indeed a carbon scrubber can you are thinking of making, please outline your specifications here so your question can be better answered by better qualified members of the site, everyone and their mother's ferret uses a scrubber and most build theirs, i'm sure some tips will come pouring in,

but hope this helped some :)

peace f1satigen and be well partna

oops, almost 4got :joint:

465 Cubic-Feet Per Minute (CFM) is ideal. :-D
...for most plans i've seen
...take advantage of the net and get the right thing, from the right manufacturer, from a reputable electrical/industrial supply house or hydro outfit... if i had my druthers i'd buy a can and blower at the latter..
panasonic bath fans are available at lowes :chin: mickey mouse stuff imvho

It will be pulling air through a carbon filter that is only recommended for use of a fan up to 300CFM. I will be using it for a cabinet that is 5 feet wide x 3 feet deep x 4 feet tall so I dont see a need for a 465cfm fan. There will be little to no ducting between the fan and the filter so I am not worried about that. And no im not building my scrubber. I am buying it.

Look for an active air blower within your carbon scrubber's CFM max...

You want to know the cubic feet of the area you want to ventilate. You said 5x3x4. Do the math just like it reads. 5 x 3 x 4 = 60. So you've got 60 cubic feet to ventilate. a fan with a cfm of 60 would change over the air in the room in one minute. That's pretty good. Now just find one that fits the function. What's the max CFM of your carbon filter? Where's your fresh air intake coming from?

Something like this should work fine for you. Dayton makes a 60 CFM active air blower that I found for $59.95 at Sunset Hydroponics

About the carbon filter. I know you're not supposed to run higher CFM fans than they are rated for, but I don't know about being too low. Hope some of this helped. And if anything is wrong someone correct me. I'm assuming your thinking about ventilation and filtering of the air. If you're looking for cooling in the mix as well you'll most likely need a higher CFM fan and CFM rated carbon tube as Devillock pointed out in another thread on this subject.

here is what my et up will be...

The veg chamber is going to be 5 feet wide x 3 feet deep x 3 feet tall. I will be keeping 3 or 4 bonsai style mothers in it as well. I am going to have four 150 watt CFL`s, that way if im only vegging a few clones or just the mothers I wont be using a full 400 or 600 or whatever. I can just use one or two CFL`s. I am going to have a 265CFM fan for exhaust and for the intake I will have four little vents(2 on each side) down by the bottom of the cab that way the fan can pull out as much air as it wants. Thats pretty much it for my Veg cab.

The Flower chamber will be 5 feet wide x 3 feet deep x 4 feet tall. It will be a SOG grow so I hope to get at least 4 plants per square foot. There will be two 600 watt lights in a 48 inch cooltube. I will have a 465CFM fan pulling the air through the cool tube. A 265CFM fan will be to exhaust the air out of the cab through a 6x20 in carbon filter. I will have a 10x25 inch hole cut at the top of the cab, I will house the carbon filter in that hole so it will be out of the way of the lights. I will have the same little vents down at the bottom of the cab as the veg cab. The vents will open when the exhaust fan is on and close when its off so no light will get in. Once I get a little more money I will get a Plug N Grow system controller and a good Co2 Set up. I will also have a Vaportek 4000 outside of the cab to clean the air just incase any smells leak out the cab.

So do you think that fan I am looking at will work for this???

i don't know anything about the ventilation, but the vaportek will take care of any odors!!

i look forward to seeing your bonsai forest and SOG, too!!
